We really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere Bistro L’Hermitage. So nice not having to listen to loud pounding music like so many restaurants inflict on patrons these days. I’m not sure how authenticly French the food is here but it was delicious and the presentation was mangnifique. Look forward to returning to try some of the other menu offerings.

Brunch was excellent. Servers were attentive and knew serving 'rules'. i.e. not removing dishes until everyone was finished, not interrupting conversations to ask 'how is everything?' etc. Water glasses filled without being asked. Food was excellent and good portions. My husband and I split the smoked salmon starter and our friends split the onion soup as a starter. Portions were healthy and we felt good value for the money. We had the omelette of the day and my friend had the crab sandwich. We'll definitely go again and maybe try one of the tasting menus they offer.

We went to Bistro L'Heritage to celebrate my son and daughter in law's announcement that they are expecting their first child. The food and service was exceptional and we had a great time. The only recommendation that I have is that the waiter should always ask if a special event is being celebrated. It would make the experience a little more special.

Very good atmosphere and the staff was attentive but respected our pace of dining. This was our 39th anniversary dinner and we were very happy with the overall service.

One area they can work on is an expanded wine by the glass selection, I wanted a good French red but there is a limited offering.

The food, drink, atmosphere, and service is always outstanding. Our entire family cannot seem to frequent the Bistro as much as they want to, in spite of the fact that much of the family has to travel hours to dine at this marvelous experience. Having dined in many of the finest restaurants through out the world, none out- shine the Bistro. Dining here is always an exciting experience well worth making it a priority destination.

The food was very good, especially the banyuls sauce on a dish of haddock(ever so slightly dry) and shrimp. Lovely desserts. But the highlight of the evening was the superb service, always attentive without being intrusive. Bistro is always rated among Virginia's best and never disappoints.

Our friends visited us from South Carolina so we wanted to treat them to an early 50th Wedding Anniversary Dinner celebration. Bistro L'Hermitage did not disappoint! We enjoyed a delicious meal and conversation and superb service. The wait staff were very accommodating and saw to our every need including a requests for a special bar order. We were proud to introduce our friends to this special place and thrilled that they enjoyed it. We always enjoy our special outings to the Bistro and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience a very special place for a romantic or get together dinner with friends.

This was our (my wife and I) second experience at Bistro L'Hermitage. We had visited on Mothers Day earlier this year and had a wonderful experience. This visit was our anniversary, and we wanted to go back and enjoy the "regular" menu and share a romantic evening. I have to say that the food, as expected, was excellent. Absolutely nothing negative to say about the entrees, the drinks, nor the coffee and complimentary dessert we enjoyed in celebration of our big day. The only thing I would change is the seating arrangements. For our anniversary, we had expected a bit more privacy in seating. Tables for two are arranged in a row, and it's almost like you're at a table with dozens of other people. We could hear every conversation from those sitting on either side of us, and the tables are long when a couple sits at each end, thus requiring you to speak louder than normal just to be heard. When everyone has to do that, the noise level goes up quite a bit and your conversation becomes everyone's conversation. Not quite what we expected from one of the "Top 100 most romantic restaurants in America", as the framed Conde Nast advertising picture at the entrance proudly proclaims. The restaurant is relatively small, but I would definitely give some thought to reducing the number of tables to create a more intimate environment worthy of the "romantic restaurant" claim. There's nothing romantic about listening (unintentionally) to other couples celebrating anniversaries and having to worry about others overhearing your own intimate conversation on such a special night. But my wife and I do love the place and will most likely return again. You can't find food so delicious anywhere nearby !!

Exceptional meal! We had a wonderful time for our anniversary. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is romantic. We had the chef special appetizer tomato and mozzarela with crystalized basil, and the poached shrimp with watermelon coctail sauce. Both were amazing! The crystalized basil was totally unique and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. For our meal we had the paillard of veal with pappardelle, and the duo of hangar steak with lobster tail. Blown away with how delicious they both were. Scrumptious sauces and perfectly done meats. We ordered the champagne risotto and the sauteed mushrooms as our sides. Both were well done, but we had way too much to eat, we didn't need to order the sides, as the entree's were certainly enough to eat, that we brought home leftovers! For dessert we ordered the pistachio and the peach cobbler. We were served the creme brulee from the restaurant for our anniversary! OMG, I could make a meal on just the desserts. The creme brulee was the best by far, that either of us has ever had. The pistachio was light and very yummy, and the peach cobbler was crumb topped, crispy and very peachy and spiced just right. In everything, we had a totally enjoyable and rewarding time. I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates a great, great meal!
