Our favorite restaurant. It has a real European atmosphere and charm. The food is great too. Perfect for anniversaries and other special occasions.
Beautiful location, wonderful ambience, excellent service, delectable food (brunch).
Reservation dining for date night
Just a bit removed from the village of Occoquan, parking seemed adequate. The outdoor seating looked nice although a few tables along the parking lot a bit less appealing perhaps. Inside, the look and feel was very nice and fit the cuisine quite nicely. The offerings are not inexpensive, but the quality of the food and service for the cost wasn't a bad value at all (assuming you are familiar with what you are heading into I suppose).
We had a fantastic bottle of Sancerre along with a Kir Royal starter cocktail. The escargot was very good, but probably could have used a touch more garlic and salt. The creamy sauce when absorbed with the pastry (or bread) gave enough of it to go well with the very fresh and tender escargot.
The sea bass was a very sizeable portion, which certainly bumped up the value vs food a half to full star. Accompanied with perfectly prepared cauliflower and assorted other vegetables, it edged out the roast duck by a smidge. The duck was an excellent medium rare, a nice sear to the skin, and some sauce soaked cherries in the au jus were delicious bursts of flavor. The creamy couscous and haricot vert were very good, although the beans were a touch overcooked losing that crispness.
We finished with a mixed berry PACKED crepe (so good!) of the day, as well as a traditional molten lava chocolate cake, and both were solid bookends to the meal and quite delicious.
Dennis is amazing. He remembers our drinks and food choices although we generally dine here only once or twice per year. The food is quite good, the atmosphere is superb and the level is service is beyond compare. Thanks Dennis and the entire staff of Bistro!!
Absolutely enjoyed our dining experience. The food was amazing! Tony was very attentive and provided outstanding service! I highly recommend dining here and will be back.
Friendly atmosphere and sftaff, the food was delicious and we will definitely come back!
Absolutely love this restaurant...we love it so much we go every week!
The wait staff was awesome and helpful; the food and drinks were all very good! Can’t wait to return!
Could not have asked for better
Wonderful meal! My husband and I went to Bistro L'Hermitage to celebrate our 15th anniversary. The waiter answered every question I had, gave an exceptional wine suggestion, and our meals were fantastic. The scallops I had were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. For dessert, the restaurant brought us a chocolate mousse to celebrate our anniversary. It was rich and decadent. We'll definitely be going back. This is such a gem in Occoquan.
Superb customer friendly staff. Exceptional French cuisine! Looking forward to returning for another wonderful meal.
One of the best restaurants in VA in my opinion - food is always done perfect and the staff is terrific - we love Carlos.
Always reliable. Neighborhood gem. An excellent French restaurant without having to go to DC or Great Falls. It is our anniversary go-to place.
Had not been there since February 2020. Food and service great as before. Seems to be all new staff. We ate indoors but they now have a lovely outdoor area. Restaurant was surprisingly full for a Tuesday. The filet and veal chop were excellent. Prices were not cheap but reasonable for this type of restaurant. All entrees come with a starch and vegetable. Good wine selection. This was and will again become our special occasion choice of restaurant.
Anniversary dinner. Table location was private. Food was tasty. Tony waited on us like a superstar. Going back soon. And often.
My husband and I went to Bistro L'Hermitage for my birthday. I like French food and it seemed like a special place.
Here are the things I liked:
Nice atmosphere -however the floors are tiled and it kind of messes up the ambiance in my opinion.
I received a complimentary birthday dessert mousse that was better than the dessert we ordered!
What I did not like as much:
It is not on the waterfront
It wasn't quite as formal as reviews stated
While the food was good it was not amazing
This place continues to amaze me. This was probably our 20th visit, and everything from atmosphere to service is consistently top-notch. All three of us ordered beef dishes, one with lobster that was better than that of any seafood restaurant in the DC region. Medium-rare teaks were prepared with a beautiful sauce and accompanied by creative sides. Salads and soup were excellent as well. Our waiter, Tony, recommended a reasonably priced wine that complimented everything perfectly. He and the entire staff made us feel welcomed and pampered. This restaurant will continue to be our #1 choice for entertaining family and friends from out-of-town and for celebrating our special occasions.
Food and service were outstanding. Very comfortable atmosphere. I certainly would return
Great food and service. Great location, friendly staff.
Wow, the lamb shank was one of the best I have ever had. Truly enough food for two! My wife had the sea bass which was also outstanding. The interior really is spot on for for French country restaurant. I can’t wait to go back.
We drive all the way from Southern Marylnd and can’t wait to come back!
Felt like we were rushed to order and leave. Not what I remembered when I was here before.
You can be sure anything you order will be first class.
Best experience. I have been to this restaurant several times and it never fails to impress! The service is outstanding and Yousef and his team are professional, courteous and prompt. The food is of very high quality with the details of presentation and service are made a priority.
Wonderful experience as always
Quaint building, excellent atmosphere, wonderful service, fabulous food. This has to be one of the best restaurants that I have had the pleasure to visit.
There were many empty tables so I'm not sure why the two hour window was enforced.
It's my choice to go to for all special occasions because the food, service and ambiance are like a gift in itself.
I highly recommend Bistro L'Hermitage. It is great for special occasions when you want an extra special dinner and atmosphere. It was a week night and the waiter was attentive though almost too fast with the different courses.
We went early so as to avoid any rush and not to put undue stress on the servers. I could not get beyond the appetizers, so I ordered two (oysters and pâté), both beautifully presented and delicious. The bartender accommodated my special order for a lemon drop martini. My husband ordered two specials: blue cheese potato soup and shrimp and scallops as his main course. The service was impeccable and the cuisine amazing. Can’t wait to return. What a great restaurant!
Couldnt have asked for better
Wonderful as usual. This was our Anniversary "Week" and we spent part of the time in Williamsburg. While there we ate at the 2 top rated restaurants and neither came close to what we expect, and get, at Bistro L'Hermitage. A perfect end to the weeks celebration!
I was very excited to try this restaurant after its great brunch press. The place is cute and the service excellent, but the food was disappointing. The French Onion soup was too salty (and I like salty food) and the pasta was bland. Coffee was good though!
Fantastic dinner. Outdoor seating was wonderful even on a cold night (thanks to many outdoor heaters)
Bistro L'Hermitage never disappoints! Consistent in all areas.
From soup to nuts, the Bistro is always an excellent place to eat, easily the best in the area.
