Bistro L'Hermitage Ratings and Reviews
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and finally were able to do so on Nov. 11 for a dinner with good friends. My overall reaction: WOW! The service was excellent, from our entrance to our exit several hours later. At our table in the beautifully decorated dining room we were met by a complimentary cocktail. The table setting was as beautiful as the rest of the decor. The French bread we was just perfect, fresh but crusty. My wife and I shared a Ceasar salad, complete with white anchovies. Our entrees--red snapper with polenta and scallops with roasted potatoes--were amazing. Due to diets we decided to pass on dessert, but a complimentary platter of small desserts--chocolate moose, creme brulee, and a lemon custard--was a great way to sample sweets without overdoing it. I can't wait to return.
We are never disappointed when we dine at Bistro L’Hermitage. From the moment you enter till you leave, all service is outstanding.
We meet long time friends for brunch. We all were happy with the food and service. It has a country French atomisphere. Lovely. Go you won’t be sorry.
Went here for the first time based on reviews to celebrate my daughter making 100 on her French Mid-term exam. We were greeted right away and because we were a bit early they seated us at the bar and graciously took our coats and umbrellas. The bartender took our drink orders promptly and recommended a good red wine. He also spoke to our daughter in French because he knew what we were celebrating. It was a nice touch that he set out crunchy snacks for us to eat while we waited for out table and kept topping off our wine. We were offered 2 table locations to sit at and we picked the cozy back table. Our waiter told us what the specials were, took our drink order and then brought us a basket of bread and soft butter. We ordered 2 appetizers, the Escargot and the Sea Scallops and they were exceptionally good. We all chose different entrees, stripped sea bass, pork loin, shrimp and duck and and they all were outstanding with quite large portions. We tried 2 of the desserts, the Molton Lava cake and Creme Brûlée. The creme brulee was the best I have ever had. They recognized our daughters special occasion by bringing out a bowl of 3 types of sorbets which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. We will definitely be dining here again as the service, atmosphere and food were excellent.
Bistro l'Hermitage is a French oasis in Occaquan. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious and the decor brings back memories of another, more gracious time. I highly recommend this restaurant. This was my second visit and I guarantee I will be back!
First off, our server Lukas was outstanding! His attentiveness and thought-out recommendations contributed to a wonderful dinning experience for our Anniversary. I highly recommend this restaurant and make your dining event special by dressing for the occasion.
It was just one of my best experiences ever in a restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful, a bit on the loud side, but it was happy noise. The service (Denis) was superb, and the food was melt in your mouth wonderful, with no apologies for cleaning the plate. In a word, Sensational!
This is my third time at this restaurant, but my first time at Brunch. The first two times were during dinner and it was great, but this time was awful. The food was mediocre at best. This service was extremely slow and the waiter dropped the toppings of my crab cake sandwich in my daughters lap and didn’t offer to replace it with fresh toppings. The place was extremely noisy because there was a large birthday celebration going on and there didn’t seem to be enough wait staff to handle guest that were not involved in the celebration. It seemed all wait staff and the kitchen focused on the birthday celebrations as we waited several minutes for a waiter to take our order and several more minutes for our food. I’m very disappointed!
Amazing. Excellent food and service. Very kind and friendly staff. Beautiful fresh roses on the table. It was my father's 88th birthday and there were 10 of us. I asked for the booth along the front of the building (since it's my dad's favorite spot) in my open table reservation and they made it work for our party.
We had a wonderful meal here. The menu had so many good options. Everything was cooked to perfection. They are just as great at seafood as they are with other proteins. The dessert was a perfect finisher, we had the trio with lemon tart, mouse with crunchies and creme brulee. The decor and atmospher are so romantic. The wait staff is completely professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.
All previous visits were exceptional. This one not so much. My order came out so different than my request I thought it was someone else's. They "corrected" it but over medium eggs were so hard there was only solid yolk.
I can only hope the head chef was not present and they just had a "bad day".
Certainly not the "Top Ten" I remembered.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Every dish is delicious and fresh. My husband and I go for special occasions. The French Onion soup is the best my husband has ever had. I had the scallop appetizer and lamb shank(photo)......fabulous! Extensive wine list and excellent service. Dinner is expensive but well worth it.
I am not a critic, but I have been to a lot of five star restaurants in all fifty states and 19 countries in five continents. The food and overall experience at L'Hermitage is world class. The service is impeccable. All without being pretentious in the slightest. I shall return to this bistro as often as I can.
Once again I'm thrilled with my dining experience here. It had been WAY too long since my husband and I had a 'date night' and he knows this will ALWAYS please. I started with the foie gras which is consistently perfect, and then had the filet/lobster special. WOW. Steak was phenomenal as was the lobster. I love dining here because my taste buds come ALIVE from start to finish. Tonight our waiter was Jose, he was great! Very attentive and friendly. And of course had to say hello to Latvi. He always makes us feel like we are the ONLY customers. Thank you again for another WONDERFUL evening.
We've been to Bistro l' Hermitage a number of times; this time was for my wife's birthday. As always, dinner was excellent. We started with cocktails - martini for her - Manhattan for me - both served up in large glasses; perfect!
Then we both had the always available lobster bisque; a bowl with a dollop of sour cream and scallions served, the bisque poured by the waiter from a pitcher. Excellent. But the French onion soup is also delicious, and hard to find nowadays. We saw a couple at a another table had ordered the special soup - tomato and red pepper - and it looked great.
For an appetizer we ordered fried oysters; light batter, slightly crunchy, delicious. For entrees I ordered the duck breast, served with haricot vert and Israeli cous cous. The birthday girl had the trout, with a huge dollop of mashed potatoes and spinach.
Although we don't usually order dessert, this was a special occasion, right? We both ordered the trio - the best creme brulee, chocolate mousse with chocolate pearls, and a lemon tart. It was sinfully wonderful. And, since it was a birthday, my wife's came with a lit candle, and we were not charged for it.
All together, a wonderful dining experience, as usual!
Our evening was fantastic! My brother who travels all over the world, was so impressed with Bristro. He said he had not had such a delicious meal in a long time. Presentation was spot on, the ambience can't be beat. Food is to die for... they were sensitive to food allergies and the staff and management couldn't have been more accommodating.
As a side note, my husband misplaced a very large gift certificate that I had given him for our anniversary and Bistro worked closely and cordially with me to track it down on their records. When the manager presented a replacement to me, it was with a smile and a hug. First class in my book.
