Great food with great atmosphere! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We would highly recommend this restaurant! We are new to the area and we were celebrating our 35th Anniversary with friends from NY. We had a most delicious meal, wine pairing and excellent service. The atmosphere is absolutely exquisite! Love Bistro L’Hermitage and hope to return many, many times!

Another wonderful evening with great service and outstanding cuisine - Carlos was again on top of his game and delivered another A+ dining experience for my wife and I as we celebrated yet another anniversary with Bistro L’Hermitage!!!

Another excellent experience at Bistro L'Hermitage. We are fortunate to have such a fabulous French restaurant near the little town of Occoquan.
Maitre D' greeted us by name, owner came by and chatted with us, gave us one of our favorite tables. Carlos was our food server, another of the outstanding wait staff at the Bistro. No matter when we go and who looks after us, it is always a truly great experience.
Restaurant prides itself on attention to all of the details of their service and food preparation, knowing that little things mean a lot. They succeed exceptionally well!

My husband and I heard rave reviews from friends about this restaurant so we decided to try it for a birthday celebration. We weren't disappointed. Not only was the food exceptional, the servers were fabulous--they made us feel very special.

We love this place! So cozy and romantic. My husband and I had our anniversary dinner there and we were not disappointed. Got a free deserts as a compliment from the restaurant.
I’ve noticed that some dishes are better than other. I wouldn’t order fish again (too salty and otherwise tasteless), but the duck, foie gras and steak are really good.

We haven't seen these to friends of ours since 2009. We thought that the best place for us to enjoy an excellent dinner was at this restaurant. The owners and staff are so warm and always make us feel wanted. The service is tops and the food - the best. Thanks!!!

I have traveled widely in France, and this restaurant takes me "home" every time we dine there -- which is frequently. Whenever we bring friends, their experience puts Bistro l'Hermitage on their list of favorites. The staff is warm and welcoming, there's a little "extra touch" on special occasions, and the service may be the best in the DC area. We seem to just order favorites instead of experimenting -- but there is always a reason why a certain dish is a favorite. Instead of snails served in the usual escargot platter, smothered in garlic butter, the chef de cuisine has devised an escargot ragout -- lovely large snails and chunks of braised pork belly and portobellos in a delicious gravy-like sauce, over a puff pastry wedge. Outstanding! (Goodness--why am I not there right now!?) My husband always comments on the perfection of the entrecote, and I have never had a poor seafood entree. And the authentic French bread is outstanding. They recently made the list of the 10 best restaurants in the DC area. This is a shouldn't-miss dining experience.

Perhaps the best French food I've had outside France, and on a par with the best I've had there. Extensive and diverse menu. We ordered a la carte, but the prix fixe and themed dinners look to be well worth trying as well. My companion is the wine expert, and was most impressed with the wines, both in terms of the quality of the list and the number available by the glass.

This restaurant is consistently excellent in every way. While it is not inexpensive one gets a sense of having received value for the price of the food. It is classic French very well prepared and presented. The wine choices run mostly at $50 and up. There is a small selection of good wines that are priced at $45. This tends to run up the bill more than I would prefer, but the quality of the wine selection is very good.
My one quibble was that we made a reservation through open table and only a 2:30 time was made available to us. When we arrived shortly before our reservation time, the place was uncrowded and we were informed that the kitchen closed at 2:30! Why would you be given a 2:30 reservation if you can't order after 2:30? Subsequently we had to rush to order and our companions over-ordered and wound up with way too much food. We wish we had known this in advance. Despite this, and being all the wiser now, we certainly will return to this restaurant despite this one glitch.

Anniversary. The staff couldn’t have been better and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommend it for either a special occasion or just a nice meal.

We celebrated our anniversary and my wife’s birthday in superb style. Outstanding cuisine with a knowledgeable staff provided the perfect locale for our special day! We’ve recommended the Bistro to friends and family.

Outstanding dinner as usual. So glad we don't have to drive to D.C. to have a good French dinner. Food is always delicious, well prepared, and delivered to table hot by excellent wait staff. Seafood is cooked perfectly as are the meat entrees, like the rack of lamb and lamb shank. Soups are superb. Good wine selection, not huge, but has a nice range of classics, old and new-world. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant should stay just as it is...that’s what makes it so special! We have been going there for years and it is always fabulous!!

As always the food and service were outstanding. Staff is always friendly and makes great recommendations whether it be on the menu or ordering a bottle of wine.

Easter bunch was amazing as always. The pre fixe 3 course menu had a great select for each course and the service is impeccable. They were always there but never noticed. Ninjas!

A perfect restaurant for quality dinner! We shared the lobster bisque and sea scallops appetizer which was superb. I had the roasted lamb and he had the veal and shrimp duo. All were prepared to perfect! We skipped dessert because the portions were plentiful! It’s our second time and it’s definitely a favorite for us! My only draw back was that we sat very close to two other tables so the intimacy of the beautiful location was lost just a little. Still amazing!

The food was excellent. The service was great. It is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate any occasion or for a really good meal anytime. We totally enjoyed the experience.

Unbelievably fantastic

The restaurant was empty when we arrived for Saturday Brunch, so we got our favorite table. We are always greeted warmly by the staff, and service continues to be excellent. They make the perfect Kir Royale served in a tall flute. We really adore their authentic French food. I always order the deconstructed Lobster Bisque & hubby gets the Smoked Salmon platter. Our entrees were the same: Strip steak w/ green beans & fries (the French never make them crispy for some reason). They allowed Barry to substitute spinach for the fries. We skipped dessert & both enjoyed a cup of Cappuccino. Delightful way to start our weekend!

We celebrated our anniversary at the Bistro and couldn’t have been treated better. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent, and the price was quite reasonable. We had the chef’s tasting menu and everything we ate was perfectly seasoned and plated. Our server Carlos, seemed very happy to make our evening memorable. We will return soon.
