Fantastic meal. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly accompanied by asparagus and potatoes and all served hot. Another dish was crab and shrimp cakes made with lump crabmeat, and we also had duck confit. The rack of lamb is excellent as is the lamb shank , but you may not be able to eat it all in one sitting. This bistro is also known for its excellent soups--try the lobster bisque and French onion soups especially. The holiday decorations in this authentic French bistro added to the festive atmosphere. Excellent wine list with good old-world and new-world wines covering a wide cost range. All the desserts are outstanding. A gem restaurant in Prince William County.
The service at this lunch was very good. The food was as usual very good too. Just a little more supervision over food quality would have made it perfect. There were no lobster pieces in the lobster bisque. On this occasion there was a large holiday party; think next time I will inquire before booking as the parking lot was very full and hard to park in and the noise level high.
Exceptional meal, superb service and great ambiance are the hallmarks of this wonderful restaurant. My lamb shank was exceptionally tasty and tender. My wife is still raving about her moule appetizer. The Bistro is the place to go for a special occasion or any time you want a fine dining experience.
The food and staff are awesome. They have a great selection of wines as well. Their desserts are fantastic. My wife and I have visited three times and each visit is as good as the last. If you want to treat yourself to a great meal and a bottle or two of Caymus, this is a great local spot. They open at 5 and I would make reservations and I would leave your kids with someone else for the night and take your time.
food was a little salty and the wait staff seemed to want to rush us even after we wanted a leisure dinner. we'll go back.
We are so fortunate to have this white tablecloth restaurant in our area. Great for casual brunches on weekends or a special occasion dinner all week. Carlos always takes good care of us, and makes sure we get our favorite table. We were celebrating our 47th anniversary so he presented us with Kir Royales to toast the occasion. He also took some excellent photos of us! I think that their Lobster Bisque (with a show) is the best in the D.C. area. Barry adores the smoked salmon platter. I had traditional Eggs Benedict although they offer one made with spinach & smoked salmon. Barry had hangar steak with veggies & potatoes. For dessert he had the lava cake & I had the lemon meringue tart w/ raspberry sauce. Then Carlos brought over a Crème Brulee w/ a candle. Big cups of Cappuccinos completed the feast. You are missing out on authentic French fare at a reasonable price if you don't check out Bistro l'Hermitage in Occoquan!
Having trouble finding words to describe the wonderful experience I had at this restaurant! Everything was magnificent and all our food from the appetizers to desert was delightful. Can’t wait to go back!
Pretty good overall. We started with the escargot and foie gras. We had duck and calves liver for our entree. Food had some high points. The foie gras was super yummy with the right accompaniments. The pea shoot and pear salad was a nice compliment to the richness of the foie gras. The escargot, on the hand, came with a soggy puff pastry. The sauce had messed up the texture of the dish. Next to the pastry was a mishmash of mushrooms, escargot and pork bits. It didn’t seem harmonious or well blended. The main courses were tasty but typical of what I would expect from a high end French restaurant. Nothing that was a real wow.
Superb food. Great wine list. Super service. All makes you feel special
It was a very nice dinner celebrating my wife’s birthday at one of her most favorite restaurants: the wait staff and manager were great, of course as usual the food was amazing, most especially the foie gras!
Bistro L’Hermitage was our first tasting at a French restaurant. I am happy to report we were not disappointed. The wine list provided plenty of options. I started with the (Bisque d’Homard) Lobster bisque with sherry cream, it was very tasty, close to the best I have ever enjoyed. The lady enjoyed the (Filet de Saumon) Pan seared filet of salmon with Israeli Couscous, baby spinach & red pepper coulis. She spoke very highly of the baby spinach, and the filet of salmon servicing was more that you can expect a lady to eat in one sitting. I enjoyed the (Poulet Rôti) Roasted chicken with brussels sprouts, french fries, & meaux mustard sauce. the chicken was very succulent and the mustard sauce was perfect.
Great atmosphere, although a bit noisy at times. Diffidently a high in the Woodbridge, VA area.
What a place, tucked away it’s like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived, great atmosphere, terrific food and the staff treat you like no one else matters (as they should!).
It was my wife’s birthday and the complimentary dessert with candle was a nice touch, will definitely be going back.
One of the top restaurants in the metro DC/ northern VA region. Food, service, ambience, this restaurant has it all. We've been here multiple times and plan going again!
It was excellent as always.
Excellent dining experience! Well worth the price. Food and service were very good; great leisurely dinner in a relaxed quiet setting. Perfect for a romantic special occasion. Can't wait to return.
Not the cheapest but worth the price for special occasions.
Really good food and very pleasant and friendly staff.
The food was bland, unfortunately. A veal and shrimp pappardelle lacked sufficient flavor - as did a side of cous cous. The French onion soup was low on sliced onions. It seems the cooking has slipped a bit.
The service was lovely, and the food, as always, was magnificent: lobster AND shrimp, beautifully melded in an exquisite sauce. Birthday boy polished-off TWO desserts! A perfect evening-which is why this is our “go-to” restaurant for special occasions.
fyi, I happened to call Bistro L'Hermitage a couple of days before my reservations. I was told that there was no record of my Open Table Reservation.
Excellent service! Food was delicious.
I had out-of-town friends who stopped by for lunch. They loved it. This place never disappoints.
Thanksgiving dinner. Flawless the waiter Luka was great, food service everything was wonderful.
Although the restaurant was very busy, we were treated like we were the only guests there.
Well done!! Can’t wait to return
Great atmosphere and ambiance in the restaurant, very attentive service, great selection of appetitizers, entrees, and desserts.
Best French restaurant in Northern Virginia. $$
Excellent table settings.
Excellent as always
Thank you so very much! Our second Thanksgiving there and we will return.
Bistro L'Hermitage managed Thanksgiving dinner excellently. The appetizer, entree and desert choices under a fixed price menu ranged from turkey to steak to salmon to veal and scallops, and all were delicious. The service was attentive notwithstanding the Thanksgiving crowds. We dined for precisely 90 minutes - from 130 p.m. to 300 p.m. - but never felt hurried. My wife an I were impressed by both the excellent food and how expertly they managed a challenging restaurant day.
As Always what I’ve expected good food, atmosphere and Ask for Dennis, he is great.
Excellent choice for a lavish (but different!) Thanksgiving meal, with options for those who do not eat meat (pescetarian-friendly, in any event--and perfectly prepared). The atmosphere was charming and the service was efficient, pleasant, and unobtrusive. We look forward to a return visit soon!
Thank you, Bistro L’Hermitage for making our Thanksgiving Day feast so wonderfully happy and delicious!! The special Thanksgiving Day Menu was excellent!! There were so many yummy looking items that it was difficult for us to select our three courses. I ultimately decided upon the Shrimp with wilted spinach and Israeli cous-cous for my appetizer, the perfectly cooked Red Snapper with risotto and asparagus as my entrée, and the decadent chocolate mousse for dessert. WOW!!! What a meal!! Absolutely superb!! Finally, I’d like to thank our wonderful server, Lukas!! You made my Momma soooo happy!!!
We absolutely love this place. It’s pricey, so it’s not an “every month” type place. Everything from the staff to the food is excellent.
This was a perfectly pleasant stopover spot for a delicious and, surprisingly, romantic Saturday brunch. The table setting was classy and the service was attentive without being obtrusive, and friendly without being familiar. The onion soup and lobster bisque, and the crab cake and trout were tasty. The ambiance was cozy and intimate (although we can imagine that the tables feel very close together at busy times). We did feel like being back in la douce France!
...we always go there for special occasions...have never been disappointed...plus we live only five miles away...
Excellent food and service! Setting is beautiful!! We celebrated this dear friend’s birthday 🎂
I love this place! Such a Gem! The food and experience is amazing. You get what you pay for...which is mouth watering, delicious food, and beautiful venue.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent drinks, excellent atmosphere. For the amount of food received and the overall experience, the price was fair. Very impressed.
Each and every course was exquisitely presented and prepared: silky smooth soup & tender veal. Chocolate mousse to die for and the service was impeccable - Carlos is the consummate professional. This is our “Go-to”, when nothing but the best will do.
Bistro Hermitage is excellent in all respects - food, service, ambiance. It was on this occasion as it always is. We will be back soon.
I had my birthday dinner here and had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The ambiance is enough to bring you back. I loved this restaurant.
Deserves more than five stars. Excellent food, impeccable service from every employee, and delightful ambiance. Such a gem!
