Bistro Les Amis
The French Onion Soup and Foie Gras at Bistro Les Amis have been claimed "the best" in NYC. Bistro Les Amis is located in the heart of SoHo, one block from West Broadway near NYU, SoHo Playhouse, and Film Forum. Available for holiday parties, and open for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve.
we used Yelp and Open Table to find this lovely restaurant and it lived up to the reviews. We were running late (constuction in NY!) and called and they were very understanding. I had requested a qiet location when I made the reservation and they had 2 choices for us- both perfect. the staff couldnt have been any nicer- really lovely with just the right amount of attention. The menu is extensive- lots of choice and good price points. we ordered wine by the glass and some call brand drinks. bar choices were good with some specialty cocktails. food was wonderful- between us we had trout, chicken, tuna and beef and we all indulged on fabulous French onion soup. at the end of the meal, our waited didnt rush us at all and quietly brought out ice cream with a candle for our birthday guest who appreciated that there wasnt any singing, we will come back to this gem
We had a wonderful time at Bistro Les Amis! Our server was attentive and friendly and the food was great. Definitely would come back.
The food is delicious. It is a comfortable and welcoming restaurant with appropriate prices and offerings. It is what my restaurants were always supposed to be
A local favorite!
Truly an excellent experience. I’m only upset for one reason - I’ve lived a short walk away from here for all of a decade and only just now “discovered” it. We will be frequent visitors from this moment on.
We had an unfortunate 45 minute wait for our reserved table. They clearly overbooked that night. The hostess was a frantic which didn’t put us in a relaxed mindset. Fortunately, Once seated, our waiter was a pro and put us at ease. He was calm and attentive. Wine list was surprisingly limited. Food was above average and once seated we had a very nice meal.
The staff was so nice and considerate. Not sure if he was an owner or manager but he had grey hair and a black sweater, he was really funny and very very nice. Everything was great from the food to the hospitality. I will be back
Luv the atmosphere perfect for a nice quite romantic dinner. We had the risotto with mushrooms and pesto it was delicious and great wine selection
We are always treated like celebrities!
Always so warm & welcoming.
One of our favorite places!
We booked a table following a business event. The group did not know each other well, and the restaurant provided a fine venue to enjoy getting acquainted while enjoying a wide selection of well-prepared dishes. Servings were generous, and the wait staff was attentive and wanted to make sure we had a good time. It’s a nice find in SoHo.
+Food was outstanding.+ -Service was attentive but slow. After waiting 30-35 minutes for our appetizers/first course, the server tried to explain that “everyone walked in at the same time...”- +great wine list. *+Desserts were scrumptious!+ -Cramped seating.-
Would definitely go back!
I have reviewed this restaurant before. This is such a lovely place to spend an evening enjoying friends, family, food, and drink. Just try it once, and you'll be hooked forever.
Great atmosphere, service and ambience. We will always come back.
The most welcoming, consistently very good restaurant. Never anything but really good, and the staff is always glad to see you. True pro's.
Lovely dinner. Went with friends. All 4 of us enjoyed dinner.
Lovely little French boite to try a variety of dishes, well prepared. Low key. Try it. . . you'll like it!
Always a perfect meal and wonderful service
This is a wonderful place to take visitors to New York for an authentic bistro experience. The owners take personal care to insure that their guests have a great experience. The food is delicious (cassoulet is terrific on a chilly winter night), the service attentive and friendly and the decor warm and inviting.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent and has both traditional bistro dishes and exciting innovations. The atmosphere is cozy and charming; the service superb
service was great, however we ordered too much foods couldn’t even finish half of them
Always cozy and welcoming. Great when it's a cold night out.
We dined as a family of 5 before going to the theater. We each ordered a choice from the nightly special menu. Every dish was exquisitely prepared. The food was delicious, flavorful, hot (temperature) The portions were extremely ample. The wine we ordered paired very well with our dinners. The tiramisu dessert was a perfect ending. We will most definitely be back when we are in NYC again. Thanks for a memorable evening.
A dinner at Bistro Les Amis on Christmas Eve has become a family tradition because we can count on excellent food and a warm, welcoming, lively atmosphere.
This year was especially enjoyable because the restaurant was very, very busy and yet the maitre d' and her team of waiters and staff worked their socks off to not only provide exceptional service but do it with a ton of Christmas cheer. And, of course, the food was terrific.
Excellent prices, good size portions and delicious. What more can you ask for.....
Food is delicious. I had french onion soup & a pork chop, which were very tasty. Other people had lamb & beef carpaccio...also delicious. Would definitely recommend & visit again.
We always enjoy Bistro Les Amis at least twice on visits to NYC. Besides being so inviting, the service and food is so nice especially the linguine with clams and the profiteroles.
Very pleasant experience. I will go back to this restaurant.
Great experience celebrating a friend’s birthday - would recommend
Our favorite restaurant in soho, always consistent food and efficient service. Lamb shank is perfectly cooked, onion soup without a doubt the best in NYC and our favorite the cassoulet. If you must have desserts either flan or blueberry crumble.
I wish the food has been better because everything else was first rate. My drink was a Gibson, not a gimlet. My spouse’s onion soup was bland and the creme brûlée was not vanilla enough. The service was delightful as was our wine but the total experience was meh because the food wasn’t as good as a New York French restaurant ought to be and can be.
Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Everyone made us feel welcome and taken cared of. Food was excellent as well.
We wanted a low key - holiday and birthday dinner. We got that and more!
This is a charming place with attentive service. Thank you Bistro Les Amis!
What a lovely, intimate, friendly-vibe, unpretentious little spot. We always go when we’re in the neighborhood.
Excellent service and delicious food
Jam packed om a Friday night. Superb Cassoulet and Monkfish
Great time! Would go back again! Best French onion
Great original french restaurant that has a cozy ambiance. The cassoulet was amazing (more than enough for 2) as well as the mussels. Very friendly staff!
We enjoy returning to Bistro Les Amis every time we visit New York. We are always certain to have a lovely dinner and enjoy the evening.
A cozy, pleasant vibe with friendly service, very tasty food, comfortable, relaxed....our third time dining there and not disappointed.
