Great steak great service relaxing nice atmosphere. Keep going back...
Great food, awesome steak. Bit cold by the window but lovely lighting.
Could easily be in Europe! Very cute place :)
We were three for lunch to celebrate two of our's birthdays. Two had never been there, and they were delighted with the comfortable table, the gentle helpfulness of the waitperson when we asked questions about the menu items. One of us ordered the chicken salad, which she said was delicious. I ordered the fish in an almond crust ( also delicious and ample), and one ordered the cod in the potato crust. The music in the background was (I think) French chanteuse, melodic and unobtrusive, really quite nice. It was a pleasure to be in a civilized restaurant where we could converse without shouting, and where the food was presented graciously, and there was no hustle and bustle. There were plenty of people at other tables, but it was not loud and frantic as many restaurants seem to be in todays world. We all said "We must come back again, soon!" Oh, and two of us had Sauvignon Blanc..crisp and cold and very good.
Always a winner
Food is very good except once or twice it was fair. Excellent service and ambiance. Grouchy manager. I love the decor so i keep going back.
This was a birthday lunch for a friend. We were four. We sat at one of the very nice window tables. As usual, the wait staff was helpful and attentive. I had the cod in a potato crust on a bed of fresh string beans. One of us had the chicken in a pear sauce, and two others had the filet of sole in a nut crust. One person had mussels as an appetizer. desserts were two ice cream truffle sundaes (fantastic) and one lemon tart. When the waiters overheard that we had a birthday celebrant, they brought out candles and sang "Happy Birthday"...other diners chimed in, making this a particularly lovely luncheon. We were unanimous in our praises; the fish was succulent and so tasty, and the chicken was perfect. Obviously, the desserts were over the top. In all, we had a grand time. this is an hospitable, charming restaurant..and the food is top notch.
We arrived approx 30 minutes late but restaurant was very understanding and gracious. Dinner was excellent.
My companions and I had a very pleasant evening. Our meals were very good, and our waiter Jonathan offered excellent service.
When I first arrived at the restaurant, there was no one there to greet customers. I waited for 10 minutes before someone came to seat me. Unacceptable.
Although the restaurant was very crowded, we were seated immediately. The noise level was such that we could converse easily. Service was excellent; food met expectations.
Service was very good, my friend liked her vodka martini and said her swordfish steak was excellent. My margarita was very good, escargot excellent, the snails tender and the sauce, which makes or breaks the dish, perfect. But my almond crusted filet of sole only fair. It was not cooked through. I took half of it home and my dog loved it. The chef should -- I know he/her won't -- try the fish at Lusardi's on 2nd Avenue between 77th & 78th. The kitchen there really knows how to cook fish. Would I go back? Of course, I like the place, but I wouldn't order the sole again.
Very nice dinner with friends. Seating was a bit tight but we had a very nice waitress who helped make the evening nice.
Food excellent, did restaurant week dinner menu
Service very slow, dinner took 2 1/2 hrs and restaurant not busy
This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food and service are excellent and the location is charming. Very unpretentious and down to earth. And don’t miss dessert which is all homemade at the restaurant.
Birthday. A regular spot
Consistently good food....service can be spotty however.
Le Steak has the best escargots in nyc. This is the go to place for snails! The rest of the menu is mostly Italian but nonetheless very good. My friend and I requested a table in the window, which we got and it was lovely to see New Yorkers walking by our cozy window perch. The service was very nice despite the fact that the restaurant was packed.Beats
Four of us met for a friendly get together lunch. We sat at a window table, which we had requested. It was light and pretty, and the restaurant was comfortably warm on this freezing winter day. Our waitperson was attentive, very charming and helpful when we questioned her about the choices. The meal was delicious. I had the filet of sole in an almond crust on a bed of spinach; the fish was succulent, and the portion was more than ample. My husband had the swordfish on a bed of spinach and mashed potatoes. He said they were the best potatoes he had ever had, and the fish was perfectly cooked. Our two friends each had the lunch special, onion soup and the perch, which they enjoyed throughly. This has become one of our favorite, if not the favorite restaurant, and it is in our neighborhood! Who could ask for anything more? Oh, and the Pinot Grigio, which two of us had, and the Merlot, which the other two had were very fine.
Outstanding service and very delicious food. Should have gone there earlier!!
I will go back to this place again
Love this place! Great weekend brunch. Food delicious at anytime-been there for brunch, lunch and dinner. Staff has been always attentive and willing to answer any questions about food choices, wines etc.
We were very pleased that they seated us at a quiet, corner table - just as I had requested when I made the reservation.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food. The staff are very kind and attentive. Would definitely go again.
Service was attentive but amateurish. A little training would channel the enthusiasm and improve the overall experience.
Very neighboring. Haven’t been in a while.
Customers seemed to be on first name basis with many of the customers and not in a “I’m Tom and I’ll be your sever way”
Steak sandwich is ohhh la la.
At Christmas it’s v. Festive.
This Place was a great find. We were looking for a new place for a birthday dinner and saw this on open table. What a great evening! Outstanding food and service. We’ll be back for sure.
Lovely place, wonderful service, delicious food! The cocktails were perfect and although the place was full, our table felt very private and well taken care of.
Great service and food was delicious!
The bartender David was the best. Thank you for a great night
We loved this place ! My son wanted steak and I wanted French . Perfect for both of us . The bartender was SO nice and friendly , the hostess warm and lovely and the waiter both qualities above and knowledgeable !
My husband and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary here at Bistro Le Steak. It was originally recommended to us by a friend of ours who is local (we live in NJ). I'm very happy we made reservations here. It was very busy, but they were very attentive and the food came out within a reasonable wait time. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful. Larry was our waiter. He recommended an amazing bottle of white wine to go with our dinner and even let us sample it before we made our decision. The steak and shrimp cocktail were out of this world. And my husband and I both agree that their French onion soup is the best we've ever had. We would absolutely go back again and I recommend it to anybody who is looking for a delicious steak dinner with their loved ones.
Excellent choice of salads, especially the Mango salad special. The mock fish over risotto and mushrooms was excellent. Consistently delicious and Jonathan is a fine server!
Excellent service, and perfectly prepared food. I didn't give it 5 stars because I admit I'm a tough grader. But I will be happy to come back many times. Its a bit loud though.
The restaurant's ambience and service were very good. We needed help with a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. The filet mignon was excellent -- as was the ice cream and Bailey's Coffee (charged $10/$9 on menu). My Kobe burger - ordered medium rare -- was not up to expectations (particularly for $20). Quite dry and too well done with a hard crust.
Have eaten there many times very happily
Not this time. One steak was too well done
One was almost raw. My fish was dried out from over cooking They tried to recook one steak and finally replaced it. And did not charge for it. They were gracious. But the chef was really not up to par
Excellent service, good food open late. Nice neighborhood place where waiters remember you.
Service was very good as was the dinner. Shared a 16 oz steak and creamed spinach. Steak cooked perfectly although a little tough. Martinis very good too
Bistro Le Steak is an excellent choice for two, for outstanding food, way above average service and a sweet experience. I will go back and encourage you to go too.
Always really excellent food, attentive service and strong focus on dietary restrictions. Very friendly atmosphere and excellent management.
The food at Le Steak is consistently good. We had the round table in the window which feels like you are outside with none of disadvantages of eating outdoors. Our waiter, Jonathan, was a delight and sang a beautiful Happy Birthday to my 24 year old son. This was the first visit to Le Steak for my son's girlfriend and her parents (from NJ) and they loved the restaurant. It was a wonderful birthday experience and reasonably priced for a delicious Manhattan dinner for 6 people.
