Bistro Le Steak Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary here at Bistro Le Steak. It was originally recommended to us by a friend of ours who is local (we live in NJ). I'm very happy we made reservations here. It was very busy, but they were very attentive and the food came out within a reasonable wait time. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful. Larry was our waiter. He recommended an amazing bottle of white wine to go with our dinner and even let us sample it before we made our decision. The steak and shrimp cocktail were out of this world. And my husband and I both agree that their French onion soup is the best we've ever had. We would absolutely go back again and I recommend it to anybody who is looking for a delicious steak dinner with their loved ones.
The restaurant's ambience and service were very good. We needed help with a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. The filet mignon was excellent -- as was the ice cream and Bailey's Coffee (charged $10/$9 on menu). My Kobe burger - ordered medium rare -- was not up to expectations (particularly for $20). Quite dry and too well done with a hard crust.
Have eaten there many times very happily
Not this time. One steak was too well done
One was almost raw. My fish was dried out from over cooking They tried to recook one steak and finally replaced it. And did not charge for it. They were gracious. But the chef was really not up to par
The food at Le Steak is consistently good. We had the round table in the window which feels like you are outside with none of disadvantages of eating outdoors. Our waiter, Jonathan, was a delight and sang a beautiful Happy Birthday to my 24 year old son. This was the first visit to Le Steak for my son's girlfriend and her parents (from NJ) and they loved the restaurant. It was a wonderful birthday experience and reasonably priced for a delicious Manhattan dinner for 6 people.
Great neighborhood bistro for steak on the Upper East Side. Not fancy or cutting edge, but wonderfully prepared and executed traditional French bistro fare, like steak frites, French onion soup and chocolate mousse. Friendly and efficient service. The French Restaurant Week menu was a steal at just $38 and included a glass of wine. Will be back!
We went as a family get together and our experience was great. The food was excellent and the waiters and servers were super courteous and polite.
The creme brûlée was fantastic, the lava cake tasted like it was from the freezer. I do not remember what the other desserts were but they seemed to be well liked.
In regards to the mains, the filet mignon was really good, the burger was kind of small (but for the price that makes sense).
We ordered some mushroom in filo dough appetizer amongst the other apps, it was brilliant as well.
Restaurant was great - but when we asked for the check I received an email from Open Table asking why we had "no showed" for our reservation. I immediately took it up with the reception crew, who assured me they would fix it - but I have no idea if they did.
Bistro le Steak is a friend of longstanding. It is a charming setting, has tasty food and impeccable service. A humid summer Thursday at 1:00PM may not draw a crowd. But in 70 minutes my friend and I noted but one other diner. We enjoyed a nice sauvignon blanc. But when our chopped salads arrived, we thought the kitchen had overlooked the dressing. The waiter assured us this was not so. He brought a pitcher of mustard vinaigrette with which we generously anointed the greens, quartered hard-boiled eggs, cucumber discs, cherry tomatoes and chicken strips. While the salads were moistened, the wan dressing was nearly undetectable. Chalk it up to an occasional poor performance that even a star can have. Over the years Bistro le Steak has provided many a pleasant repast, and I'm confident they'll quickly be back in stride.
Food was excellent (a superbly sautéed trout sitting on a bed of perfectly julienned vegetables topped with a light vinaigrette caper sauce and a well-seasoned 10oz. strip steak cooked as desired), dinner portions were the correct size, the house table wines were excellent, and, finally, the service was attentive and professional. This restaurant is a hidden gem of the Upper East Side.
Casual French dining. Meals were basic but good and very reasonably priced by Manhattan's standards. Can't go wrong with filet mignon and frites with a glass of cotes du rhone. Service was prompt and attentive. A really good all-occasion pick that provides a solid dining experience without breaking the bank. Highly recommended.
Reserved for my brother's birthday. Waiter was from Boston (?Jason) who was excellent - friendly & personable. Unfortunately we had to wait at least 40 minutes for our main meal. Both Jason & the manager apologized & we were given complimentary dessert. My brother had the porterhouse steak & I the pork chop. Both were delicious! Would highly recommend Le Steak!
We have dined at Bistro Le Steak twice and truly enjoyed the experience, both times. The first time we happened to be in the neighborhood and picked it randomly with the help of OpenTable. The second time we made it our destination after spending the day shopping and a healthy long walk around Central Park.
The wait staff are charming and the services was quick without being intrusive. We dined in the glassed in porch area and the first time it was beautifully decorated for the holidays with lights. The food is excellent. My wife had the chicken Francaise with Linquine and I had The Scallops and Shrimp. Both were perfectly prepared. i highly recommend this restaurant.
