Bistro Le Cep
Did Valentine’s Day. Very good but I would call semi french.
I have been here 2 nights in a row. The food is outstanding, the have a great Sancerre to drink and the prices are quite reasonable.
We had a group of 10 ladies and each of us was very satisfied with the meal and the service We were in the back room so it was very quiet and each of us said we will return very soon.
Like being in France. We arrived 30 minutes before their 5:00 opening (our theatre ended earlier than we anticipated), and they invited us in to sit anyway. Their Sunday 3-course special is a bargain, and it includes everything on the menu. At our table we had mussels, onion soup & shrimp & crab stuffed avocado to start. Main courses were lamb shank, roasted wild boar and bouillabaisse. Desserts were apple tart, chocolate mousse & meringue with praline ice cream and chocolate sauce. Their house wines are delicious! The wait staff have all been there for at least 15 years. Can’t wait to go back!!
Small cozy place where friends can chat easily while having good food. Easy to park. Attentive staff.
Recommended: canard a l’orange and the Bouillabaisse. For dessert, gateaux chocolate
Only two issues, the lentils in my meal were undercooked and had to ask for bread twice.
Should visit here more often but unfortunately I forget about it. Friendly staff and delicious food.
First visit was on a Sunday night. Although we were unaware of the Sunday 3-course meal special, and were prepare to order more expensive items from the menu, our waiter pointed out to us that we could get the same entree items, plus 2 other courses for a better price. Food was excellent, service was great. Excellent wine list. A real gem. We'll be back.
Wonderful food, lots of variety, EXCELLENT and attentive service, reasonable prices and good wine list. This is a must try if you are on the west side of Houston near the beltway. The French onion soup was great and the escargot was some of the best we have had in a long time.
The restaurant needs updating for the ambience I personally enjoy. I understand it’s French “country” cooking but they could make some changes.
This is a super cozy little place, the likes of which you don’t see anymore. Lots of menu choices, prices are fair, especially for the portions. I had the Veal Cutlet dish, my wife had the Coq au Vin. A nice little Rhone offered by the glass was fantastic!
As always we had a wonderful dinner with impeccable professional service. Excellent wines as well.
We always love going to Bistro Le Cep, especially for special occasions, such as a birthday.
The wild boar was excellent. Service was attentive without pushing us to the bill. Another pleasant evening dining out.
Great French food with something for everyone. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Salmon entree was overcooked and with little flavor. Was no eaten by one guest who didn’t want to complain since it was a celebration. Cow au vin was ordinary. Mussels, wild boar and duck were all exceptional.
We really like the food and ambiance at Bistro Le Cep, and we usually enjoy it. However, in the new year eve, we did not like the location of our table, which was in the back room. There was too much noise, a kid was crying all the time , only Spanish speaking families were seated in the room. There was no new year ambiance in the restaurant at all, there was no new year eve hat, or any decorations. The service was the best thing during that day, servers were working fast and hard.
We would like to go back for a regular dinner, but not for a special event for sure.
We have been there several times. Their beef is excellent and the service is great! Even though it is out of the way for us, we keep coming back. They also have an impressive wine list and the atmosphere is cozy.
Excellent food and service with great atmosphere in a setting where you can actually hear your guests. Perfect evening !!
I have been to Bistro Le Cep many times. This year we waited outside while the area was cleared from prior customers. It rushed and no one was talking to the ones waiting. Why not just make an announcement and offer them a glass of wine or something. The food was good as usual but I was not as happy about the service. I ordered a mineral water that never came. A little disappointing considering that this was suppose to be a celebration evening. I will continue to go but not on days like New Year's Eve.
Staff was nice, atmosphere was lacking, food was good, not great but think this might be more of a neighborhood - not anything I would ever patronize again though.
This is our favorite French restaurant! We visit this restaurant with all our family during the Christmas holidays. My parents, who live out of town, always request that we go to this restaurant. We love the food here! The service is exceptional, and the owner is always there to greet you and make you feel welcome. This is one of Houston's finest and best restaurant.
Both food and service are always excellent at Bistro Le Cep.
Everything was great but the green beans had a Smokey taste. Not a fan of Smokey flavor.
Best steak I have had in years, great atmosphere and service. I am looking forward to our next visit!
We always enjoy Bistro Le Sep. The food and service is excellent. Though we would prefer some vegetarian dishes
One of our favorite restaurants in Houston and their Sunday special is always a great deal!
We had a great table for our celebration....ready for us when we entered and cheerfully decorated.
The greeting at the door was warm and friendly. The service and food were everything we have come to expect from this establishment. Most of all the quiet atmosphere made for conversation without yelling at each other.
Another wonderful evening with authentic French country flair and taste! I had the pork chop - it was moist and accompanied by an excellent sauce (I'm not sure how I've missed that before, although I do normally get the nightly fish special). I highly recommend it! My wife had the scallops which were also a big hit.
As usual, excelente food, ambiance and service! Planing on returning in a very near future
This is our Go To in Houston for French cuisine in an unpretentious restaurant. Service is great, plenty of parking. Our favourite dishes - Sea Bass and the Bouillabaisse.
Bistro Le Cep is our favorite place to dine out. The food and service is excellent. The staff is first rate. I cannot say enough good things about Obed and his staff.
Wonderful casual lunch. The duck confit was so tender and flavorful as was the trout.
Old world elegant. Tremendous service and great food and wine, all at reasonable prices. It will be your favorite neighborhood eatery, even if you don’t live in the neighborhood. They make you feel right at home from the moment you enter. You leave as if you were old friends. The menu is old world elegant as well. Try the onion soup au gratin and the rabbit.
Food was exclusive. Service was superbe. Wine delightful. Great birthday party.
Greatest in Houston
Bistro Le Cep never fails to please. The location is convenient, the service is superb, and the food is excellent. It is one of our "go to" restaurants in Houston. If you have been, I am sure that you are planning a return trip.u haven't, do yourself a favor and book a reservation on Open Table.
Always a great experience: very attentive service; delicious food; solid wine list. My wife ordered the wild boar, which was phenomenal - well presented, well prepared, great sauce. I had the pork, which was excellent. Ordered a St Emillion Bordeaux, which was very well priced for the quality.
I found this restaurant to be a excellent choice for lunch. The restaurant was my first visit but want be my last. The restaurant has a great atmosphere which both romantic and quiet. The staff all were quite professional and efficient all had a friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to answer questions about the menu. The food was fresh and delicious. The various menu items are all prepared to order with the chef particularly taking care to prepare them properly. The restaurant offers both lunch and dinner with daily specials available as well. The dessert menu is interesting with a special note that I found the creme brulee to be perfectly prepared and creamy quite delicious. The location of this restaurant is easy to access from major freeway and roadway with a good amount of parking and available seating I would definitely recommend this location.
Food and service are always great.
From our warm welcome to the attentive service, we could not have been more pleased with the service. The French pate served with perfect toasts as an amuse bouche was delicious. Each entree ordered from our group of four was beautifully prepared and worthy of rave reviews. This is now our number one place to go for a special evening.
