This is our favorite restaurant for dining before the theater and ballet. The seafood is great and my wife loves Bob's martinis and we both love the desserts. As always a great place!
A lovely spot for fine food, pre-theater/ballet/symphony!
Waiter and waitress were very attentive. Food was excellent. Very convenient for pre theater dinner.
One of the nicest, most patient and professional wait staff group that our group of belligerent random group of friends has ever encountered. Thank you for being patient with us. Being at the Lancaster was a highlight of our trip to Houston.
Great place for dinner before or dessert after the theatre.
We always come to this restaurant before the show. I will look elsewhere now. My son & I were meeting for dinner before a show. We were greeted at the table by our waiter, then he never came back. When we called him, he ignored us. We finally received the attention of another waiter who took care of us. The first waiter was working hard for the table with 4 next to us, but totally ignored us. Funny thing was when the table of 4 was paying the bill, he was there as they were thanking him for his great attention to them. I don't know the story there. Maybe he was just reassigned to the bigger table? Even so, in general, the service was very slow and the buffer time I had allowed before the event left us running to the theatre after paying our bill. Its time for us to try something else.
A perfect choice when you want a sophisticated and calm dining ambience where you can actually hear each other talk. I love this place for it's menu and ambience. The location is also superior for pre and post theater.
Really enjoyed my first visit to Bistro Lancaster! Was there with a girlfriend before we went to the ballet. The curry chicken salad was yummy and our waiter was so friendly and attentive!
Food was average. Bloody Mary was horrible. I would not recommend or go back.
Great abieance. Good food. Waiters were very polite.
it was perfect before performance at the wortham. we parked easily, ate a nice meal with a nice wine. the waitress was so sweet and lovely
Although the food was excellent I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant other than for its convenience when going to the theater district. It is quite close to several theaters which gives it appeal and the food truly is excellent. So what's the downside? I felt the menu was a bit limited and the pricing quite high especially for wine. One or two glasses of wine at 10, all others 13+. Food too is pricey. Service was slow as there seemed to be one waitress for the entire restaurant. Not her fault but slow nevertheless. If you don't mind the prices and you are going to the theater it is a good choice but value wise too high.
Nice bistro atmosphere. Limited lunch menu but food was good. Quiet place for a casual business lunch.
We celebrated Pre-Valentines at the Lancaster Bistro. Dinner was great and service with Oscar with impeccable! They really go the extra mile to accommodate and make the occasion special.
The food was good and the service was good, it's a nice location.
It was my first time there. I thought the food and service were outstanding. I will return in the very near future and try other items. The waitstaff were friendly and very helpful. Speedy service, but not rushed, just tr right amount of attention. The wine selection was great, food was excellent.
This restaurant is very accommodating on food allergies and dietary restrictions. We have been here many times and always find something great on the menu, which regularly evolves. This time I had a delicious kale salad to which I added grilled chicken. My colleague had perfectly prepared lamb chops. Wine selection is good. I recommend the place highly.
We often eat here before a theater performance. Always great food and service.
My friend and I had a lovely dinner before going to the Hobby Center to see "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night". She had the kale salad to start and then the Soy glazed Chicken. I had the Salmon. No dessert because we were off to the theater. We did use the Valet parking but diners should be aware that the Lancaster does not offer free parking with the order of an entrée. I think it may still be listed on the sign on the Valet station.
Love the bistro for pre-theater. The food was very good. The staff treated us very well.
The only venue conversant with a theater crowd in what passes for a downtown theater district. Ample bar but slightly crowded dining space. Attentive staff, but the menue could use more traditional Bistro items. As with anything successful, it's primary advantage is location, location, location
WE always go before the symphony or Alley. Convenient and good food.
Great service / good good / the GM is super / very close to theaters / including Hobby Center /
Near Hobby Center, but otherwise not special despite historic building. Overpriced.
This is one of our favorites of everywhere we have lived. The food is always fresh and excellent and David alway spoils us. Bistro Lancaster is a gem from the sommelier to the chef to our kind friend David who always manages to make us feel like we are dining at a friends house.
Husband & I had dinner with friends for New Year's Eve this year. The chicken dish was dry and portions of the sides were small. Husband had the salmon and said it was dry as well. Wait staff was friendly and ambience of hotel & bistro was very enjoyable but food has to be good or people will not return. Lunch at the Bistro a year ago was very good - not sure what changed.
Good food and service. Table ready when we arrived. Not quite was only down side when it is desired.
Yearly tradition before seeing The Nutcracker. Service and food is wonderful recommend for special occasions or anniversaries.
We gathered here before the ballet. The restaurant is small, the food very good, but the noise level very high! The service was attentive and timely. We wish we could have had a conversation but the lively, though festive, atmosphere made it difficult.
An excellent hotel restaurant in the heart of Houston's downtown theater district. It is close to numerous downtown office buildings and the federal courthouse. A good place for a business lunch or a meal before a show at the Alley Theater, Jones Hall, the Wortham Center, or Sundance Movie Theater, each of which are a short walk from the restaurant.
Very noisy when busy due to the small space. Service was a little scattered but good when provided. We really enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer! Food was good and well presented.
We just love having our pre-show dinners at Bistro Lancaster. It's just so cozy and romantic, the service is friendly yet polished, and the food is delicious.
Good menu, nice seafood, but loud when full, and a bit pricey.
Good food, service and nice ambiance.
Had lunch at Bistro Lancaster for a business lunch. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but the service was slow. It took a long while to have our drink order taken. It subsequently took a long time to have our food order taken. The food was delicious. My guest had the crab cake and I had the tuna melt - both were very good.
Perfectly, perfectly, lovely! Wonderful service---attentive without being disruptive. Food was excellent. When wine by the glass was ordered, they brought the bottle which is something I don't see often...nice touch...I know what bottle to look for when I go to purchase for myself!!!
The dining experience was great. However, Open Table advertised the restaurant as one that would result in 1,000 points instead of the 100 I received.
Parfait surtout si on loge à l hôtel ce qui était mon cas
Hands down, the best steak I have had in Houston!
Went there with my wife prior to attending a show and had an excellent meal. The crab cakes are fantastic.
