I have been there several time and I think it is going down from the first review I have done. Still a good place to get your french food fix if you live close by. But nothing worth coming from another place, food is just average. The best thing is their parking available which is a rarity in the area. Staff is also friendly and helpful.

Wonderful experience and tasty cuisine. The French Onion Soup is the best and the salmon and Pork Tenderloins were wonderful and tasty. Service was top notch as well. Wonderful, neighborhood establishments and well worth your time to dine here.

We are still enjoying La Source in Jersey City. Great creative cuisine continues to great surprises. The ‘oldies but goodies’ also do not go bad. They keep right on giving. Still worth an almost 60 mile drive from Princeton.

A wonderful neighborhood restaurant that has free on-site parking for those who come from a distance. The food is delicious—mussels prepared in numerous ways, and many entreè choices for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Reasonably priced prix-fixe also available.

I love Bistro La Source, particularly on Mondays for their mussels deal. Prepare to be there a little while, but that is part of the authentic French cafe experience. The food is always delicious and the restaurant is warm and cozy.

This was our third visit to Bistro. Our first time was great but the second time the food was not at good. For the dinner entree of soft shell crab they only served one crab. I left a bit hungry. We gave them another chance and we were very happy. The portions are not large (it is a French Restaurant) so good to have an appetizer.
Tiny parking. Worth a visit.

We love this neighborhood gem. It never fails to disappoint. On Mondays they have their "Mussel Monday" special, where for $12 (+the purchase of a drink, which can be anything from a beer to a soda) you get unlimited bowls of mussels, and can alternate between their 5 amazing sauces.

Ravioli with short rib was very disappointing. To add insult to injury, the establishment took the liberty of running my card for more money than I signed for.

Dined with friends. We were getting together for the first time in several years. We all enjoyed our meals and were pleased by the gracious service. And pleased to have the wherewithal to catch up without being rushed or unable to hear one another.

Went to Bistro La Source on a Monday for their unlimited mussels. Can't beat $12 for unlimited mussels. Choice of 5 sauces (can switch it up between the 5). No time limit and they don't rush you so they can turn over the table. Outside seating area is great, especially when the twinkle lights turn on. The white wine on special is excellent.

Loved our experience in this wonderful neighborhood gem. The salmon and local scallops were prepared expertly and with just the right seasoning. Incredible taste and our salads were nicely prepared as well. Rhubarb dessert perfection. All in all such a memorable experience and definitely a 'go back to' restaurant.

I have dined here 3 times since 2015, and each time the food has been consistently excellent and the service very good. This is a very well managed establishment where there is a varied menu that gets updated from time to time. From time honored French dishes such as Coq au Vin or Cassoulet to lighter fare like a wonderful steak salad, you will find something to please your present whim or long standing preference.

There is a very traditional looking indoor bistro dining room as well as a large outdoor seating area when the weather allows. Service is excellent and the price is very reasonable

New Jersey sea scallops were delightful in a salad of oranges, fennel and cherry tomatoes. Lollipop rack of lamb wonderful as was the filet mignon. A Trappist Chimay and French Cabernet were great beverages. Service as always was up to snuff. Be back soon.

We were very pleasantly surprised by Bistro La Source! Really didn't have any expectations and only selected it because it's a reasonable distance from Liberty Landing Marina. Food was excellent, service was friendly and attentive. I'll be back when I can sit outside and take in the awesome view of the Freedom Tower at the end of the block.

The just arrived soft shell crab and morel mushrooms on an artichoke red pepper cheese containing starter were delicious. My wife enjoyed the morels with her filet mignon that was prepared at the requested temp to perfection. All this went very well with a Washington state Cabernet. Well worth the drive from Princeton NJ.

The restaurant has its pros and cons. We were there for their $12 special on all you can eat mussels. Overall, we have had better mussels. Some of the sauces sounded great on the menu but when you ate them they definitely lacked in flavor. For what you pay though they are not bad. The service was not the greatest. Our server forgot to put in one of the orders for mussels and they just seemed busy and overwhelmed with the amount of people there. I would go back to try something else on their menu. The restaurant is nice and cozy so great for a friends gathering or romantic dinner. They have a good selection of beers and wines too.

Bistrot la source almost always delivers; classic french fare at a reasonable price. But on the practical side, I have to say that the parking availability is very attractive to me.

Absolutely horrendous! Waited 35 mins for a simple burrata and asparagus app. It was good at least. This can't be said for dinner though. Which also took an absurdly long time. Two people ordered burgers- one was way under dome and the other way over done. The chicken cocovan was ok but nothing special. Even after all this we were thinking about dessert. They gave us a dessert menu but didn't come back to ask what we wanted for almost another 20 mins, so we decided to go elsewhere. Overall we were there for over 2 hrs, much of which was spent waiting. I DO NOT recommend this place for dinner.

Not a good night at the Bistro La Source. Starting out the Escargot appetizer was terrible! Chewy, rubbery and tasteless. And, the waitress made it even worse. She came over and asked me "How was the Escargot"? I replied "very rubbery". The waitress then proceeded to scold me. "Well, you should not have eaten it all and I could have credited it", she bitingly stated. "Well I then replied, "I just thought you would like to know". She frowned and stated "I'll tell the chef". Had the chef stopped out, I might have felt better but no. Next the Tuna entree: can you cut a tuna steak any thinner management? Not enough there in the small piece to make it rare! Charge more guys or take the baby tuna off the menu! Finally, as we were leaving the restaurant, we got to the front two doors and could not get either door to open. After a few minutes, a man came over and asked "having trouble" and showed me a door knob which he proceeded to insert in the door to let us out. The final insult! Don't think we'll go back.

One of us had a delicious choucroute dish with a nice Malbec. The other enjoyed some Blue Point Connecticut oysters followed by some steak tartare. A Ketel One vodka martini served both of the two dishes. Gelato of chocolate and sea salt caramel was a great way to end it all. A repeat visit can't be too soon.
