Quaint, authentic spot! Looking forward to returning and dining outdoors
Everything was going well until we were leaving. We waited outside for two ladies from our party were using the restrooms. While in there they overheard our waitress commenting on our group in a derogatory fashion to other patrons in the restaurant. Naturally they came out upset. When confronted she proceeded to deny this. When we asked to speak with a manager he again denied such a thing occurred. It really ruined what was otherwise a good evening.
Great food. Neat trendy atmosphere with good service.
We found your restaurant on the internet when looking for places to eat when we were visiting Jersey City and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious as was atmosphere and service.
Good food and drink selections at very reasonable prices. Will definitely return.
Our son took us here twice last year to this gem of a restaurant, so for Valentines Day
I could not think of a better place to take my wife. Their menu has many choices
to satisfy everyone for very reasonable prices. The quality and taste of food is amazing!
The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. I've been to many restaurants over the
years and Bistro Le Source is up there if not at the top! The best place I've eaten at!
Friendly spot with well done food. For non locals their parking lot is a real benefit in a neighborhood where parking is a challenge.
Nice for a causal meal with friends. Brunch was very nice.
Come for the mussels stay for everything else.
The food was sub par for a $65 prix-fixe meal (which we were unaware of). The 1st courses were fine, but the main entrees were disappointing in cook & quality. Also, we didn’t think it was terribly busy for NYE, but even so, it was rather hard to get a hold of our waiter.
The food is always consistent and good value for the money in that area. We have been going there for many years. Our last visit was unpleasantly cold! It was very cold outside and they couldn’t keep the temperature up inside the restaurant. It was freezing inside and we couldn’t feel our feet and hands...please install extra heaters in the entrance!
The calamari was perfect... but everything else, we weren’t happy with... The salmon didn’t cut it not the Coq au Vin.
This was our second time at Bistro la Source, and it was as good terrific. We went as a group of 6 for Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone thought that the atmosphere, service and food were excellent. The Mediterranean fish stew was terrific. My son-in-law has the Alsace sausage and sauerkraut, my daughter had tuna tartar and my wife had salad nicoise. My wife and daughter also had the onion soup and thought it was very good. A nice bordeaux and Sancerre were perfect complements. This is a great addition to the Jersey City restaurant scene.
The food is solid, good and diverse. I brought a wonderful bottle of wine and the owner said he would forgo the corkage fee. I came knowing there would be a fee so very generous for that offer. Get the muscles.
Everything was great!
Never disappoints ....grown up spot where people actually come to enjoy each other’s company....fabulous!
We were here for thanksgiving There was set menu and we had the turkey dinner. It was very good and a new experience for us brits.
I have been there several time and I think it is going down from the first review I have done. Still a good place to get your french food fix if you live close by. But nothing worth coming from another place, food is just average. The best thing is their parking available which is a rarity in the area. Staff is also friendly and helpful.
A great neighborhood gem and great value. Never disappoints. Always great atmosphere and service impeccable
Wonderful experience and tasty cuisine. The French Onion Soup is the best and the salmon and Pork Tenderloins were wonderful and tasty. Service was top notch as well. Wonderful, neighborhood establishments and well worth your time to dine here.
We are still enjoying La Source in Jersey City. Great creative cuisine continues to great surprises. The ‘oldies but goodies’ also do not go bad. They keep right on giving. Still worth an almost 60 mile drive from Princeton.
A wonderful neighborhood restaurant that has free on-site parking for those who come from a distance. The food is delicious—mussels prepared in numerous ways, and many entreè choices for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Reasonably priced prix-fixe also available.
I love Bistro La Source, particularly on Mondays for their mussels deal. Prepare to be there a little while, but that is part of the authentic French cafe experience. The food is always delicious and the restaurant is warm and cozy.
This was our third visit to Bistro. Our first time was great but the second time the food was not at good. For the dinner entree of soft shell crab they only served one crab. I left a bit hungry. We gave them another chance and we were very happy. The portions are not large (it is a French Restaurant) so good to have an appetizer.
Tiny parking. Worth a visit.
Had a delightful dinner outside with an awesome view of The Freedom Tower!
We love this neighborhood gem. It never fails to disappoint. On Mondays they have their "Mussel Monday" special, where for $12 (+the purchase of a drink, which can be anything from a beer to a soda) you get unlimited bowls of mussels, and can alternate between their 5 amazing sauces.
Nice outdoor space. Waitress was amazing. She had a Great accent too ;). Steak over salad was my favorite. Blueberry crumble dessert was so yummy.
Ravioli with short rib was very disappointing. To add insult to injury, the establishment took the liberty of running my card for more money than I signed for.
Service was a little slow this time, but food was good as usual.
Excellent as usual. Great food and creative menu. My go to Jersey City restaurant.
Dined with friends. We were getting together for the first time in several years. We all enjoyed our meals and were pleased by the gracious service. And pleased to have the wherewithal to catch up without being rushed or unable to hear one another.
Waitress was personable and courteous. She was very busy, too. Food was excellent as usual.
We've dined here before and will go back. Lovely restaurant.
Pleasant, casual, reasonably priced with parking as an added convenience. Food had creative touch including unusually tasty pate, soups and blends with entre. Desserts were especially good with generous portions
Amazing Cassoulet and desserts. Staff was good, but not overbearing.
Had a 7:30 reservation didn't get our dinner until 10:00 o'clock. Yes it was busy during restaurant week but come on !
Went to Bistro La Source on a Monday for their unlimited mussels. Can't beat $12 for unlimited mussels. Choice of 5 sauces (can switch it up between the 5). No time limit and they don't rush you so they can turn over the table. Outside seating area is great, especially when the twinkle lights turn on. The white wine on special is excellent.
This was our first time at the restaurant and we were delighted. We shared 4 appetizers and all ordered different entres. Everyone was pleased and we agreed to return soon.
Loved our experience in this wonderful neighborhood gem. The salmon and local scallops were prepared expertly and with just the right seasoning. Incredible taste and our salads were nicely prepared as well. Rhubarb dessert perfection. All in all such a memorable experience and definitely a 'go back to' restaurant.
Wonderful meal and enjoyed the outdoor seating and neighborhood ambience. The pre fixe menu was a great deal. All we tried was very good.
two of the four meals were not good at all... fatty spare ribs, burger well done instead of medium rare... just not good and not worth price...
