I love this restaurant! It is cozy and warm and fun and relaxed!! The food is scrumptious and there is something to please every palate! Definitely a neighborhood gem in Jersey City.
Great service, tasty food, cute place w/French bistro flare
It is a great place and the Mela was nice mike in France. We enjoy our dinner.
My wife and I discovered this gem in our ongoing search for a good French restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised to find this Bistro, with an all you can eat Mussels Monday which offers four or five different flavors of delicious mussels. The fried chicken dish will amaze you. It has a casual atmosphere, but definitely a great experience that I would recommend to anyone.
A good restaurant to keep as neighborhood gem !!
I liked the mussels, too.
Very good service with a positive attitude. Food pretty mediocre: watery onion soup with tasteless cheese, escargots had a very peculiar vinegary taste and a lot of rosemary in the herb mix while missing any cheese crust. Lots of pasta options (did not try though). Def not the food one would expect in a French bistro.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Both indoor and outdoor seating has been comfortable and not too loud. Top item so far hands been the merges.octopus starter.
Food is consistently good, excellent service and great prices!
Delicious food. Quick service. Would recommend
Consistently good food. Our dishes were nicely prepared and well made. Restaurant was extremely busy, not enough wait staff, so service was slow, but definitely no fault of the servers.
The food was good, we were well tended for with our 2 kids. Food and drinks arrive just at the right time. We'll go again.
Place was empty when we arrived at 7:30, so we had the pick of the place for the table. That was great, got best table for two in the corner. We loved the overall menus and where hard pressed to choose what we wanted to order. We had a cocktail, a bottle of French wine great value, escargot, duck liver pate, sautéed froi gras, I had the raviolis with mushroom and my girlfriend had the steak and salad. We ended with chocolate crepes, cream brûlée, espressos and Sherry. Everything was great and under $200 without tip. The servers where very polite, but laid back which is a good thing. One big plus for the place has its own Lilly’s parking lot, which is great in Jersey City. Please don’t go there lol it’s a secret.
Found a hair on salad and on main dish. Food was alright but the hairs really hurt the overall experience.
We waited 1 hour between every plate, no excuses, and the push us outside when it was to late for us
Quaint, authentic spot! Looking forward to returning and dining outdoors
Everything was going well until we were leaving. We waited outside for two ladies from our party were using the restrooms. While in there they overheard our waitress commenting on our group in a derogatory fashion to other patrons in the restaurant. Naturally they came out upset. When confronted she proceeded to deny this. When we asked to speak with a manager he again denied such a thing occurred. It really ruined what was otherwise a good evening.
Great food. Neat trendy atmosphere with good service.
We found your restaurant on the internet when looking for places to eat when we were visiting Jersey City and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious as was atmosphere and service.
Good food and drink selections at very reasonable prices. Will definitely return.
Our son took us here twice last year to this gem of a restaurant, so for Valentines Day
I could not think of a better place to take my wife. Their menu has many choices
to satisfy everyone for very reasonable prices. The quality and taste of food is amazing!
The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. I've been to many restaurants over the
years and Bistro Le Source is up there if not at the top! The best place I've eaten at!
Friendly spot with well done food. For non locals their parking lot is a real benefit in a neighborhood where parking is a challenge.
Nice for a causal meal with friends. Brunch was very nice.
Come for the mussels stay for everything else.
The food was sub par for a $65 prix-fixe meal (which we were unaware of). The 1st courses were fine, but the main entrees were disappointing in cook & quality. Also, we didn’t think it was terribly busy for NYE, but even so, it was rather hard to get a hold of our waiter.
The food is always consistent and good value for the money in that area. We have been going there for many years. Our last visit was unpleasantly cold! It was very cold outside and they couldn’t keep the temperature up inside the restaurant. It was freezing inside and we couldn’t feel our feet and hands...please install extra heaters in the entrance!
The calamari was perfect... but everything else, we weren’t happy with... The salmon didn’t cut it not the Coq au Vin.
This was our second time at Bistro la Source, and it was as good terrific. We went as a group of 6 for Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone thought that the atmosphere, service and food were excellent. The Mediterranean fish stew was terrific. My son-in-law has the Alsace sausage and sauerkraut, my daughter had tuna tartar and my wife had salad nicoise. My wife and daughter also had the onion soup and thought it was very good. A nice bordeaux and Sancerre were perfect complements. This is a great addition to the Jersey City restaurant scene.
The food is solid, good and diverse. I brought a wonderful bottle of wine and the owner said he would forgo the corkage fee. I came knowing there would be a fee so very generous for that offer. Get the muscles.
Everything was great!
Never disappoints ....grown up spot where people actually come to enjoy each other’s company....fabulous!
We were here for thanksgiving There was set menu and we had the turkey dinner. It was very good and a new experience for us brits.
I have been there several time and I think it is going down from the first review I have done. Still a good place to get your french food fix if you live close by. But nothing worth coming from another place, food is just average. The best thing is their parking available which is a rarity in the area. Staff is also friendly and helpful.
A great neighborhood gem and great value. Never disappoints. Always great atmosphere and service impeccable
Found this spot from reviews and it didn’t disappoint. We were out of towners with kids (13, 12, 10). There was something for everyone (all thoroughly enjoyed). Definitely a hidden gem!
Wonderful experience and tasty cuisine. The French Onion Soup is the best and the salmon and Pork Tenderloins were wonderful and tasty. Service was top notch as well. Wonderful, neighborhood establishments and well worth your time to dine here.
We are still enjoying La Source in Jersey City. Great creative cuisine continues to great surprises. The ‘oldies but goodies’ also do not go bad. They keep right on giving. Still worth an almost 60 mile drive from Princeton.
A wonderful neighborhood restaurant that has free on-site parking for those who come from a distance. The food is delicious—mussels prepared in numerous ways, and many entreè choices for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Reasonably priced prix-fixe also available.
I love Bistro La Source, particularly on Mondays for their mussels deal. Prepare to be there a little while, but that is part of the authentic French cafe experience. The food is always delicious and the restaurant is warm and cozy.
This was our third visit to Bistro. Our first time was great but the second time the food was not at good. For the dinner entree of soft shell crab they only served one crab. I left a bit hungry. We gave them another chance and we were very happy. The portions are not large (it is a French Restaurant) so good to have an appetizer.
Tiny parking. Worth a visit.
