Bistro Joe's Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but the ambience was terrible. We were stuck in a back corner, next to an office space. The office phone was ringing while we were trying to talk. We tried to turn off the ringer as it was so disruptive. It looked like the restaurant just tried to create extra tables and decided to put one in a former back office, without even trying to move the office. Supermarket employees—not waiters—were walking past us to get to the office space next to us. The restaurant was crowded and understaffed, so service was subpar (not the waiter’s fault). It didn’t help as we were sitting in “nowhere land.” Is it really worth the profit of an extra table to alienate customers who are likely never to return?
We ordered appetizer & entrees. Appetizer came right away and then we sat and waited. Finally asked about entrees & server said she waited to put in order so as not to rush us. It seemed too long until she came out & said the chef redid one of the entrees, fair enough. When it finally came out the sides were cold, not warm, but cold. They came back with them reheated on outside, but not a new order. Too many choices too eat at for a meal & service like this.
They save reservations for the very back of the restaurant near the grocery section. I've never been able to sit in the nicer restaurant area. Once we were dining while people were shopping for wine, hovering over and bumping into our table. It's also an area that gets ignored by servers. I asked about sitting near the front by the large window but they said they save it for "walk ins". Why bother to make a reservation to get trash tables??? Don't bother making reservations here unless you don't care about seating, service or a nice dining experience.
My husband and I tend to have bad luck with tasteless, overpriced food or really bad service, or both, BUT our recent dinner at Bistro Joe's was impeccable. Sat on the enclosed patio with heaters and lovely lighting.
Ordered a bottle of wine, reasonably priced. Ordered the Bone Marrow app. Lamb Chops and Whitefish for dinner. Blonde brownie sundae for desert. Large portions and so deeeeeelicious!!!!
So happy we finally found a great spot that won't disappoint!
Always great for weekend brunch. The best scones with whipped butter, and I ask for berry preserve. Really great. Also get yogurt with granola and fruit which is excellent. Hash browns, mushroom omelette, pancakes, French toast amazingly delicious. Very nice Bloody Mary bar
First time at Bistro Joe's was a success! I was always really curious and their brunch menu is a great variety for all. The bloody mary bar was superb! I couldn't even decide on toppings. We had 6 people and it was a great spot out on the patio and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I don't know how much I would have loved it being inside, the outside is so bright and lively though. Would recommend for brunch!
I have eaten here several times over the past few years and always enjoyed the food. This time, the Nicoise Salad ( previously a favorite ) was just bad- mediocre. My friend who had the fish tacos ate half of one and said the fish was bad and didn't eat them. The wait staff did not offer to replace the meal. There are so many good restaurants in the area that we will not return to Bistro Joe's.
We've eaten here many times and had events here as well. The biggest issue is how slow they are. So avoid it if you're in a hurry. The other issues is the atrium/balcony seating in the summer, especially during sunset times as it is far too hot and it makes for a miserable and sweaty experience.
My family and I go to Bistro Joe's most Sundays for brunch. I also have been here multiple times for lunch and dinner. The food is always amazing and fresh. The service is always great!! Make sure to make reservations because this place is so amazing that it gets booked up super fast! Brunch is always amazing and they offer great specials. They also have an amazing Bloody Mary bar and mimosas for brunch! Try their fig jelly and scones they are hands down the best thing I've ever eaten!
Great food, active atmosphere, varied menu. Many choices for the vegan and paleo alike. The layout is a bit of a fishbowl as you are overlooking the gourmet grocery below. It's a rather small long train layout with tables and half-booths. A bit cramped. However, the food, the cocktails, and the waitstaff are wonderful. Decor is colorful and casual.
The food was absolutely scrumptious!!! Our sever told us they had the best brunch but we didn't believe her because she's supposed to say that! LOL. I had the corned beef in the hopper. My daughter had the French toast. And my other daughter had the thank the lard. Everything was delicious. I have been telling people about it since we left! Can't wait to go back.
We went for happy hour on Friday night. We expected it to be busy, but there were always open tables around us on the patio. Service was fantastic, very attentive waiter. Drinks were very good. Food was fine. Overall the menu was very limited and super pricey.
I love Bistro Joe's! I always have a fantastic meal. The derive is great and the food is so fresh. Very fun atmosphere. I recommend sitting in the patio. Happy hour is my favorite time to visit because of the great drink and food specials. I highly recommend the mussels during happy hour and a Moscow mule 😊
I liked the ambiance of the inside, but several in my group wanted to sit on the patio. The bench was hard as a rock and the discomfort was a bit distracting. It also felt cramped. Someone order the large meal for 4 and the smoke filled the patio such that it burned our eyes a bit. Finally a waiter opened a window. The patio was not very decorated; it didn't have much character which seemed out of balance with the prices on the menu and the quality of the food.
Next time I will sit inside. But the food was outstanding.....5 stars. And the service was very good.
