Birthday dinner w/ fmly
Very tasty food. Go during happy hour and try all of the snacks! So delicious. They also make really good drinks here.
We went for Mother's Day Brunch so it was a mad house in there. The manager was very helpful when our waitress forgot 3 items we ordered. We felt bad for our server due to workload. The food was excellent.
We had reservations for noon, when we arrived we asked when our table would be ready and they said they were working on the table but could not give a time. We told her we would wait at the bar. We got a drink at the bar and waited, they never came and told us that our table was ready. We sat at the bar and ate. The bar tender even though overwhelmed as he was the only bar tender on a holiday, was very attentive and got us everything we needed. If it wasn’t for him I would give worse scores.
Considering it was Mother’s Day and it was quite busy there. Things are a little bit slow as far as service and food but Mulchany got her food and everything was good.
The food was really good, we had brunch and the menu selections were very unique different than you could order at regular brunch/breakfast restaurants. It was for Mother's Day so it was a little loud, but not overly so. Service was a little slow but it was very busy. We loved the food and will definitely be back!
The balcony was a little crowded but the service and food made up for that. We were there on Mother’s Day and the staff was on point! Our food was prompt and delicious. Coffee and water were refilled before we were ever down more than 1/4 glass. Will definitely be going back!
It was our first time at bistro Joe’s and it was very good the wine selection was good the food was good and we will be back
Great service , great food !! First time here but definitely will be back.
Best happy hour in town!
My friend needed an organic red wine, and the server (who really knew wine and bad reactions) recommended on that we bought on “Half-price Wednesday bottle” days! My friend tolerated it well, & LOVED it!
Awesome French toast! Great service!! We will be back because we love their breakfast!!
The atmosphere was nice but I was disappointed in the quality of the food given the cost. I got a 12 oz NY Strip from the Market that didn’t have a price on it. I simply compared it to the 14 oz NY strip that cost $40, thinking at the most $50-$60. I don’t like asking the cost especially while on a date. In the end it ended up being a $90 NY Strip that tastes like small step up from Texas Roadhouse. Highly disappointed! While it wasn’t bad... it wasn’t anywhere near a $90 price tag. For that, I wouldn’t recommend this place and would warn people to watch your money here and keep in mind that you’re eating above a supermarket.
always amazing. food awesome. service is super fast! great drinks
Easter Brunch was delicious!
Great service and great food! I love sitting in the area the has the view of Woodward;I call it the patio. I often walk off my mail bike shopping in the grocery store below.
My group of 6 was very disappointed in our brunch experience on Saturday. The breakfast quesadilla (three people, including myself ordered) was very average. It tasted like something anyone could make at home. We specifically asked our server which menu items are "must haves" and although he did not elude to the quesadilla, when someone asked about it (since it was a special), the server said it was very good but seemed to be answering the same way with any inquiries. Our server was very friendly but not very attentive. Two of the three quesadillas barely got eaten and not once did the server notice or inquire. I will not be eating here again. Its very expensive for brunch and the food quality does not show. I recommend taking the quesadilla off the specials menu immediately.
I like that this is a unique atmosphere. My husband both enjoyed our meals. Will be back soon.
Love love love bistro joes. Delicious food, wonderfully atmosphere and the service is outstanding. My family and I go often and enjoy it every time
I love it here. Love the food, the servers, and the ambiance!!
Food and service consistently very good. Nice variety.
Great happy hour.we liked the beef sliders and the Brussels sprouts. We like to sit way in the back past the bar.
Great authentic food, great atmosphere and Great service. Thanks!
A unique spot to have a meal. I went there for brunch. The food was not good . I ordered a skillet . I think it was the cowboy skillet and it was one of the specials for the day. and it was bland , no flavor. I needed ketchup. I ordered a French 75 for a drink and it was yummy. Would I go back?? Probably not
Fantastic food and drinks!!! The shrimp N grits were to DIE FOR! Perfect place for apps and happy hour. My only complaint is it gets a lil pricey during dinner hours....but hey, it's Birmingham.
My granddaughter had pancakes. I am a pancake lover but had a healthy omelette which was very good, but when I had a bite of her pancake it was the best I have ever had. Next time I will have your pancakes .
Girlfriend and I tried the Bistro for craft cocktails and dinner. Super sunny day, patio was the only takes available but right in the sun. We preferred to wait and the host and stay accommodated is in every way possible while we waited for seating inside. Cocktails were made with care and flair and we all delicious. When the meal came, appetizer of tuna tacos (yum!) we're the perfect start to us sitting the Flaming Tomahawk. Quite a presentation and quite a steak. We both lived it and the sides were fabulous as well. Apparatus and Mac and cheese sound pretty pedestrian, but the flavors! Really, really good. We spent a little more than we usually do, but I think it was all well with it. Definitely we will go back.
The food was wonderful, as always. The service was very lackluster. Our server made almost no conversation other than to ask what we wanted to drink and our order. After our food was served, we didn't see our server until we were almost finished eating. I'll definitely dine at Bistro Joe's again, and I was fortunate enough to have my favorite companion to eat with; but our server in particular could have been a little more personable and attentive.
It was all good except our table was noticably dirty with a layer of greasy dirt, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.
Brussels sprouts were great.
Crabmeat stuffed mushrooms were ok.
Mushroom flatbread was terrible. Undercooked and no flavor at all. Bread was very pasty and barely edible. We have had it before and it was excellent. Not this time. Server was very condescending and did not offer to take it back to cook more or replace it. Very bad experience.
The Bloody Mary was a meal! It has so much added to it that I wasn't that hungry for my meal. It was delicious! I had the skillet with grits, pulled pork, poached eggs and corn bread. Amazing taste sensation. Perfect aside from the fact that I was pretty full from my meal in a drink!!
Very disappointing. Untrained staff and oblivious management.
Excellent service even better food. Had reservation for two. It ended up being three of us and they were able to accommodate immediately. Nice ambiance and view of Joes Market. Will definitely return.
We made a reservation at 12:15 PM and it took them over 30 minutes of waiting for us to finally be seated
Reliably good, fresh food that is well-prepared. We appreciated that our server brought our birthday girl a HUGE slice of remarkable chocolate cake to help us celebrate - without our asking!
Always love the food and service here. Need to direct the heaters towards the customers....still too cold
Our server Michele was very attentive. We both ordered the soup and sandwich lunch combo. The chili was a little spicy for my taste. Salad was smaller than expected. My friend’s tomato bisque was too sweet for her. Nice quiet place to relax and talk. I would recommend as it’s convenient to downtown Birmingham. Will try other items next time. And you can get good groceries after you eat!
While I have always enjoyed the Bistro, the wait for food was ridiculous long. Once we got there the waiter got our drinks to us pretty quickly and then took the dinner order for 4 people and the wait for the food exceeded 45 minutes. It was totally unacceptable and never did the waiter come and tell us the issue. The orders should not have been overly complicated as they were sliders, onion soup, mac & cheese and a beef appetizers and lamb chops. Takes away any desire to return any time soon even though the food is very good - when the kitchen cannot accommodate orders, then one's entire rating decreases substantially.
