Nice place, good food, like Tuesday wine and dine deal. Good atmosphere, but can be very noisy, in each of last two visits large party of extremely noisy young women screeching and laughing spoilt our visit, but normally enjoy very pleasant time there.
Excellent meal nice house wine and a very relaxed atmosphere. Booked on line only slot turned out to be a bit early but were not rushed so able to relax. Would recommend telephoning to book table as times are available all day. Enjoyale experience and will be going again.
Consistently great value and a very good, French bistro-style restaurant. We've always had excellent meals here and also at its sister restaurants. Highly recommended.
Seven of use whent for four thirty pre theatre meal and two of us had Two course and bottle of wine all very good value only one falt veg not very hot .
Six of us visited Bistro Jacques for a pre theatre meal. Good choice of food for each course and delicious as well. Tuesday offer is excellent value - 2 courses and a bottle wine for £17.99. As 2 of us were driving we were able to take our wine home! Staff were friendly and efficient and at no time did we feel rushed or under pressure to leave our table. We were there for 2 hours! Bistro Jacques is always our choice when visiting the Everyman.
Lovely staff and good food. Friendly and accommodating
The restaurant was very good. The problem was that my booking with OpenTable had not been received by the restaurant.
Absolutely appalled at the food. Table for six and we were the only people in the restaurant and were put in the most uncomfortable area. Starters very poor as was main course including pork that was uncooked. I have been to this restaurant several times and never experienced such poor food. House wine was £19. Has this place changed hands ...not worth the visit.
It was my Birthday .I go here every year and have never been disappointed.Wrote about it on my blog for Explore Liverpool
The only disappointment was the fact that they knew nothing of my booking through Open Table
A lovely meal found on Internet staying in Port Sunlight able to park right outside always a bonus. The Tuesday deal 2 courses plus a bottle of wine each very good exstensive menu lots of choice, we did go for dessert as well !!. The food was well presented the staff very helpful ,service excellent it was very busy but at no time did we feel rushed .We would defiantly come again and recommend it to friends.Excellant value for £44 plus tip Thank you for a most enjoyable evening celebrating our 44 th wedding anniversary a bit early
I ordered a chicken dish and got plaice. However, I accepted (daft, I know!), as I didn't want to hold my guests up. The fish had not been filleted, deheaded or skinned. There was very little fish left after the tortutous removal of bones. My wife left her soggy cod gratin - covered in a bitter tomatoey type runny sauce. The chocolate lavender and crumble were really nice.
Good value French cuisine. Excellent choices on fixed priced menu and everything well cooked and presented. We enjoyed "graduation lunch" and thought it a good central location and easy to book. Service was prompt and pleasant.
Food was of a good standard but the service was poor.
It was too slow and culminated in our ordering of desserts only to be told 20 minutes later that one of them was not available
Great place for our special occasion. Food was excellent quality and value. Service was very good. Been here before and will continue to dine here. Great job!
Good was good. Plates could have been warned and food could have been warned. Very noisy on Tuesday evening. Group of 11 people one with loud cackling laugh which got louder the more she drank. Difficult to talk due to noise from this party.
Recommend avoid Tuesday evenings wine and dine.
Would prefer one of groups quieter restaurants.
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal in a lovely welcoming enviroment.
Lovely food, good service, great value, pleasing decor, smashing place.
Bistro Jacques is a pleasant enough place with a fair selection of French (obviously) inspired dishes. Portions are on the small side but then, so are the prices. Service is speedy - perhaps too speedy as they seem to be running to pre-theatre timeframe when speed is important. Our courses arrived within minutes of finishing the previous course which is not exactly restful. However, the servers are friendly and efficient. This is a place for a quick bite, not a lingering meal.
Really cosy restaurant.food is second to none, really tasty.portions just right.great choice.on line booking avsilable and eady to use.highly recommended.
We used for pre theatre dinner excellent dinner, spent from 4.30 until 7pm. There was no pressure and we really enjoyed. Recommend
Fantastic friendly service and lovely food.Excellent booking on line too. Will definitely be returning!
We have visited all the 'Bistro' group across Liverpool and although this is not in the city centre it is situated between two cathedrals amongst several amazing eateries but for value no local restsurant comes close! Staff adapted the set lunch menu to meet the needs of our teenage daughter who chooses pâté on every occasion wherever she fines. This was not on the menu but a request to the efficient waitress and violá pâté appears and apparantly was the best she has ever tasted anywhere, ever! So after starters of pâté x2, sardines and baked brié, mains of chicken, pork, salmon and pasta followed by banofee pie, chocolate tart, almond cheesecake and pear crumble, washed down with an amazing bottle if prosecco, soft drinks and replenished water we still got change from £70 and the restaurant had 4 very happy and satisfied customers. Bistro Jacqués is one of Liverpools best kept secrets. We went for a celebration midweek lunch, however there are amazing deals every day and evenings too!!
Great service. Good food - the sweets (banoffe pie & cheese cake) were outstanding! And decent value. An easy recommendation.
Superb friendly surroundings, beautiful tasty food and excellent service
The highlights were no doubt the main parts of our main meals - the fillet of beef that I had and the chicken supreme my partner ordered were both absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked and were great value for money too - less than £20 for fillet is an absolutely bargain.
The mains also provided the biggest minus, though... the accompaniments weren't up to much; they weren't well cooked, lacked taste and were fairly tepid at the time they were served. Disappointed we didn't order a big side of chips to go with my beef, certainly!
Starters were tasty enough and the cheeseboard okay, though it's not a sharing portion - if you want cheese at the end of your meal, get one each!
Service was great and the staff were dead friendly, helpful and attentive enough without being intrusive. It was very quiet for a Friday night, although that's probably because we sat down a bit later.
Went with my sister. Booking was easy. Restaurant busy. Seated quickly. Service Food was excellent tasty and live the fresh veg. Disappointed there was Beef Bourgineoun available. Chose steak as alternative which delicious.
Every time I visit the Bistros I am blown away by the quality of the food. The service is always perfect for the occassion; always attentitive but never invasive. Thank you for another lovely night!
This was our second visit and the food was again very good. Our waitress was helpful and even took the trouble to explain about the evening band practising down in the basement - however the noise was minimal. We will definitely be returning.
The restaurant did not appear to have my opentable booking on their system which was a bit worrying but they let us in anyway. Very busy which meant longer delays but the manager was very helpful and pulled out all the stops which was brilliant. Food as usual was great, though I did notice the french onion soup had gone off the menu, quelle dommage !
Very enjoyable dining at Bistro Jacques, a new experience for us. It is a lively some might say noisy environment but fitting for the ambience, lots of chatter not over loud music and when we were there no noisy children : ) . All staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. Good menu to choose from with special offers on, we had one of the 2 course with bottle of wine for £17.95 (avail Mon and Tue evening) plus choices off the menu. If there is any criticism it would be that the veg were not very warm and for me the cartots a little to al dente. All in all we had a lovely evening and would return if we were to visit Liverpool again.
Once again excellent service, delicious food and pleasant surroundings
The service was excellent - prompt, yet we never felt rushed - attentive and friendly. We had the pre-fix menu - tasty, with reasonable choice - very good value for money. I certainly enjoyed what I had - and so did my friends. I would not hesitate to return!
ExcellentExcellent meal, helpful and attentive service, excellent value
The first time I ate here was a pre-theatre meal which was well cooked, well presented and delicious. You can imagine my disappointment then, when I recently went for my birthday and was given a dish that I had to send back as it resembled tinned tomatoes with very little other flavours. Everything looked sad, as if it had hung around in the kitchen for ages. Not a happy bunny!
Booked the Pre Theatre time slot for a party of 6. When we arrived it was very quiet. It soon got busy and started to get a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and did not rush you. Once ordered food arrived in a good reasonable time. Presentation was good in general apart from the Pate. Would have been better as a block rather than squeezed from a piping bag. It looked a little off putting if you know what I mean. Sorry Bistro. The food was of really good quality though and none of the 6 had any issues. Wine and drinks were reasonably priced and they had a good choice. Would recommend this restaurant for Pre Theatre Dinner.
