This was my first visit to Bistro du Midi. My son and I each ordered the tasting menu, which can be served with 5 or 7 courses. Each course was very unique and delicious. Their grilled octopus was outstanding. The service was appropriate attentive, but given the portion size of the courses, the time between courses seemed a bit long. The staff were all very courteous and the setting is very nice. A great place for a date or special occasion meal.
The food was amazing! Such a fun brunch place!
Lovely! The atmosphere is nice for a good conversation over a bottle of wine.
When I booked Bistro du Midi it was intended as our somewhat extravagant indulgence on a brief Boston visit, and it proved to fulfil expectations very well.
The food was really quite special. We hear that the original Michelin starred chef left for several years and had only recently returned and the results proved generally outstanding with no real disappointment and some really splendid dishes.
Our server did not quite add to our enjoyment levels, He was a bit of a "know all", expounding rather tediously on just how wonderful each dish was and then actually being quite slow when we wanted him. I suppose he probably meant well.
But he was only a small irritant, and the food compensated admirably.
I think we paid about $180 before service for one two course and one three course dinner, plus two excellent glasses of a sparkling Saumur rose, (really nice and dry,) and a half bottle of a premier cru Chablis.
Highly recommended.
What a wonderful restaurant! We ate upstairs, overlooking the Boston Garden. The service and food were excellent, and the views and decor were lovely. There’s a nice old-world feeling about it, like it would be a perfect place for a ladies lunch. I look forward to going back!
Bistro du Midi is doing fantastic under new management and checks all the right boxes - excellent tasting menu, exquisite wine selection, very nicely balanced cocktails and a wonderful and super-attentive service - not to mention its perfect location in the heart of the city. Highly recommend to anyone looking to have a very special experience.
Wonderful atmosphere. impeccable service and food! I would go back in a second!
Excellent food, well presented. The beet gnocchi was the best gnocchi I have ever tasted. The duck was excellent. The polenta cake was superb. The seared fois gras and parsnip cake were delicious. Unusual and tasty cocktails. Lovely views of the Public Garden. Solicitous waitstaff. A nice destination for a special occasion.
Had a wonderful bouillabaisse .. to rival the ones from the south coast of France..
Nice presentation and the flavors are on target.. Jolie travail!
Good wine list and not too abusive on pricing.
Service and atmosphere where excellent
Happy we visited! A la prochaine...
service and food has declined to a two-star level!
Bistro du Midi was a perfect was to start a lovely evening on the town. Food was fantastic, service was impeccable, and the restaurant itself is very chic yet classic.
It was restaurant Week, so the dining room felt more like the dining commons at Boston University than the romantic setting that we were hoping for. Anyway - beyond that, everything was just ok; the food, the service; nothing that would place this restaurant into the top tier it purports to belong to.
I am really disappointed with the food quality. I ordered mussels and five of them were closed. Before they bring me the mussels on the table, two waiters holding my plate, stared at that course for quite a well and whispered about it, and then they brought it to me. So they knew it but still served it. If you want to have a French dinner, La voile is much better than this one in all the aspects.
excellent good. best raw oyster I had in new England area. service is pretty nice. convenient location across to boston common. The price is in the right range. all seafood dishes we ordered is super. definitely will go there more frequently. seating is kind of casual (yeah, I hate formal settings).
We went there for Dine Out Boston event and the set price was $38 so we didn’t expect to be awesome or super good. But it turns out the food was great! And the waiters were nice and kept asking us if we need any more breads. It was a really nice experience and I will definitely go there again
taste terrible and not fresh. I never eat something so bad. My entire family was very disappointed by this choice during the restaurants week.
Tasty and well crafted food - excellent execution with fresh ingredients and culinary skills evident
Worth trying and coming back to - really enjoy brunch esp ricotta pancakes! Appreciate you can get the pancakes as a side order
Amazing food. Fantastic wine list. Excellent service.
It’s been a while since I last went to bistro du midi and so I’ve decided to go again after 5 years. Buying a house in the suburbs clearly affected our dining preferences, but we are happy we broke the routine and went into the city on Friday night.
There was no vallet on duty upon our arrival and after waiting inside the car for a few minutes, we left the car double parked and went inside the restaurant. We left the car keys with the hostess, who assured us the vallet will get the car parked as soon as he is back. One vallet on Friday night?
We ordered beef tartar, foie gras, scallop carpaccio and bouillabaisse to share. The beef tartar was nice and flavorful, the foie gras was good - I’m not a fan of the corn bread or whatever soggy sweet disaster that comes with it. I think a simple toast would do better, but the foie gras was truly delicious. The bouillabaisse had a nice combination of lobster, shrimp, calamari, white fish and salmon, but was slightly overwhelmed with the amount of mussels, which were not as good as you’d expect. The saffron sauce was very plain and the abondance of fish and seafood couldn’t compensate the dryness of the fish and lack of flavor. However, the staple of the dinner was the scallop carpaccio. It is a heavenly dish and is a must try. The drinks were delicious and the service was outstanding as always.
Went for restaurant week. Packed! Service was excellent. Wine list aggressively priced, but a reasonable bottle under $100 could be found. Food was the same was the main menu but with small subtractions that resulted in a full meal without compromise in quality. The ganache dessert was wonderful: chocolatey, crunchy all at once.
A very pleasant meal with old friends. The food is delicate and delicious but the desert is too sweet. In all I highly recommend this restaurant.
Bistro du Midi is a gem of a French restaurant just steps from the Boston Public Garden. I have been there several times now and highly recommend whatever seasonal soup they are serving. Also get the Beet Gnocchi, a dish served for President Obama. Finally, end your meal with a soufflé - I prefer the fruit-flavored ones.
Love the place, my favourite restarant in boston
Food was very good, Molly the bartender very nice trying to find the soccer match argentina italy
The restaurant overall is cool, but for the lunch especially restaurant menu, there’s really nothing very impressive or awesome that amazes me.
Everything was excellent! My steak was so tender my friend who came to meet us for drinks ended up ordering one.
Our waiter and our meal were very good. We sat on the first floor. We weren't happy when we were asked to move because a couple with their oversized stroller needed to enter. First the hostess asked that I move my chair in. In doing do, the customer ran over my coat. When he couldn't get by us then, we had to get up AND move the table!
The Manager came over and talked with us and also compd our bottle of wine which was nice but , I'm thinking that table shouldn't be there in the first place!
The food was excellent, dessert very creative & terrific
Excellent meal. Foie gras appetizer was great. Halibut with curry was excellent. Nice ambiance.
We tried fix menu for dine out Boston. Delicious food and very comfortable atmosphere.
greatest mussel
We went here for Dine Out Boston. The food was absolutely delicious. We had mussels as an appetizer, steak as the entree and a matcha panna cotta for dessert. Everything was great and service was attentive.
Great dining experience
Staff was very welcoming, courteous, and accommodating. Food was amazing, and service was great. Would come back again!
Terrific meal!
Best surprise they have Chocolate SOUFFLÉ for dessert!
It’s the real deal!
It was great!!! We enjoy the food and atmosphere very much! Definitely worth the money. I am planing to take my mum there :)
We dined at Bistro du Midi during Dine-Out Boston week and our selections were from their special menu. My husband had the mussels which was a generous portion and wonderfully seasoned, while i had the spring salad, which was also very good. My entree, the cod, was perfectly cooked with a lovely accompaniments. My husband's steak was pretty basic and not a steak house quality cut. The desserts were divine!
Fabulous service, fabulous dinner and yummy ginger martini
The staff are very attentive. We were trying to get to the theater and they paced the service in a non rushed yet perfectly timed relaxed dining experience. The duck was the best I have ever eaten.
Parsnip soup was unbelievable!
