I’m disappointed. Remember going couple years ago and it was great. Food was not great. Service slow. Glasses were filthy. Soufflé over cooked.
Great pre-theater meal! They even accommodated our special requests/menu alterations to the prix fix menu.
Overall, very disappointed with the food and overall atmosphere. Note: We were seated in the upstairs dining area.
I entertained a business client from Sweden for lunch on a sunny June afternoon. We were seated just inside the restaurant's open front with a view of the Boston Public Garden. My client loved the food (softshell crab) even better than the view.
I am going to schedule all of my business development lunches in Boston at Bistro du Midi this summer!
The main kitchen is now handling the lunch meal preparation, and the quality is really outstanding. (It was fine before, but now it's truly superior.) Wonderful food. Smoked parsnip soup with hen-of-the-woods mushrooms (amazing), fiddleheads and asparagus, omelette, rose genoise with lychee sorbet--all delicious. Bistro du Midi is now accepting lunch reservations, a great improvement, and is seating overflow lunch reservations in the upstairs dining room. The elevator was out of order, unfortunately, but one assume it is being repaired.
Extended wine options! Great pairing suggestions. Wonderful atmosphere for a special occasion.
We had a hair in our bread and a bug in our water which we reported it and they did nothing
Great classics -Mussels and Frites and Tuna Tartare was excellent. Service and wait staff were all really friendly and attentive. As we ate late we were upstairs which due to the unusual time was empty. But was a perfect lunch on a wet Saturday afternoon.
Thanks to all
Ordered the beets for starters and they were delicious. However the black sea bass was a very thin overcooked and relatively tasteless piece of fish - very disappointing.
EXCELLLENT ! outstanding service and food. Cant wait to go back.
My wife and I are "semi-regulars" who go here prior to ballet or for special occasions. At our most recent dinner, most of the food was up to the usual spectacular standard: soft shell crab on asparagus and fiddleheads was the best I've ever tasted, perfect bass and the usual fine bouillabaisse. The only disappointment (hence down one star) was the dessert souffle, which usually the capstone of the meal. The new framboise souffle was far, far too sweet, and was incompletely cooked.
The upstairs dining room is elegant and the view across the street to the Boston Common Garden is lovely. Our server was friendly, helpful and patient. Our frame of reference is food at top restaurants in major US cities, Hawaii, London and Paris and this was a top five meal. My wife is a beef fan and thought her steak was the best she has had. I had the spicy lobster pasta starter and I was tempted to cancel my entree order and simply have a second serving of that--happily I didn't and had the black sea bass entree. It was equally good and perfectly prepared. We like visiting Boston and now have another good reason to go back sooner rather than later.
What a lovely restaurant! We made reservations just 10 minutes before arriving, but they could not have been more gracious. However, we were underdressed—no one said a word, but we felt a bit out of place. Just be aware that most people dress up to go here, even at 11 am on a Saturday. The food was wonderful. It was both prepared very well and was great to look at too. It was like restaurant food should be: delicious with those extra touches like dried tarragon foam and toasted farro that you would be highly unlikely to prepare at home.
Great dinner at Bistro du Midi. Food very good, service very good, and we were very appreciative of our window table. Would definitely return.
I am disappointed they didn’t offer outdoor dining as I was the first to be seated for lunch.
I ordered a shrimp cocktail and got one shrimp. Seriously?
I think the spinach salad may have had MSG on it. Bothered me afterwards.
Top Notch !
Great restaurant, Great Food, Amazing Wine List !
Food was great, staff professional and the atmosphere charming. Will go back...
Great location, warm and inviting locale. Mothers Day brunch was good. Seafood was a bit over cooked but still tasty. Desserts were delicious.
Had a great time good and service were good
Best halibut I have ever had.
Great place to visit when in Boston.
Outstanding food and service all in a nice setting.
Beautiful view of Boston Commons when the weather is good, tasty creative food although portions are a little on the small side and pricey. Great place to meet with friends after work or on the weekends. Professional staff.
The ambience was very nice. I enjoyed in natural lighting and let them know what his level. The food was very good especially the pancakes.
Great food. Attentive service. Would definitely come back. Thank you.
Great birthday brunch!
Yum! Outstanding Service from the minute we walked in. Our Wait staff was amazing and thank you to the Chef for an incredible experience. Although this was a friends getting together, it was also business! Thank you!
Haven’t been here for a while. Used to be staid and OK, but we were very impressed by the changes. New, old chef (returned after stint with a couple of quality restaurants). Lighter feel, food was delicious. Will definitely return.
Very pleasant staff
Great food & service
The portions are very small and a lot is a la carte.
Great brunch! Classic French restaurant.
The food was delicious, and the service was great. Highly recommend the place.
Ordered the salmon ‘cooked through’. It arrived virtually raw inside. Waitress agreed, had chef cook it more, returned same piece of salmon to table, still raw and not even warm to the touch. Waitress did not return to check timely, my dinner mate had shared her meal with me and we were finished. Took the salmon off the bill, big deal, it was not consumed. We both left hungry and feeling disappointed. Have had 3 good meals there and now 2 bad experiences. Will not return.
Excellent food experience, very good ingredients, cooked and mixed perfectly. Original and very interesting.
Service young and some asleep, so many mistakes: not that good and friendly. You can imagine you're in a tourist place in Paris!
Cocktails were not good, but wine was OK.
We will come back for food, ambiance and place. Mainly for food.

Went with family and friends to celebrate completing the Boston Marathon. The restaurant made the entire evening so special. Could not have been more perfect. Recommend this place with absolutely no reservations.
Expensive, delicious, thoughtful menu. A pleasure
This was my first visit to Bistro du Midi. My son and I each ordered the tasting menu, which can be served with 5 or 7 courses. Each course was very unique and delicious. Their grilled octopus was outstanding. The service was appropriate attentive, but given the portion size of the courses, the time between courses seemed a bit long. The staff were all very courteous and the setting is very nice. A great place for a date or special occasion meal.
The food was amazing! Such a fun brunch place!
