Went for dinner for Dine Out Boston. Service was perfect- when there was an issue with one of our sides and they were out of the one we wanted, our waiter was gracious about the mistake and gave us the other dish on the house. The decor is very nice and creates a nice space, but it’s also very loud. Food is good, but not newsworthy. The mussels were excellent and the highlight by far. The rest— beet and goat cheese gnocchi, steak, and hazelnut mousse and lemon tart for dessert— was very good, but not creative or outstanding in a way that would justify the normal price tag for the restaurant. For us, the tasting menu was a reasonable value, and I’m glad we went and had a very nice evening, but I think there are other restaurants in Boston I’d rather spend that kind of money on in the future.
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent, as always. One of our favorite spots for Dine Out Boston!
I went to this restaurant with my friend on Tuesday for Dine out Boston, the food is great, but we were so upset because of the service we got.
The customer sitting next to us dropped his beer, spilled all over the place and on my shoes, that was totally accidental, and we understand. However, the way our server, Juan, reacted made up really upset.
Our server didn't check on us, but he went to the other table and asked if he is ok, and poured him another bottle of beer. Fine, probably he didn't see that. Later, he came and clean the floor, ONLY THE OTHER CUSTOMER'S SIDE. I am pretty sure he saw there is also beer on the floor of my side, he did nothing. How could he treat customers to differently, just because the other customer is White, and I am Asian?
My plan was to ask the manager to come when I asked for the check, but I didn't since the other customer was still eating, I don't want him to feel sorry because he dropped the beer. I was considerate enough, but the way this restaurant treated me is really ridiculous. I won't come back and I won't recommend this to any people of color.
I loved the heirloom beet salad, duck, and chocolate soufflé. A very enjoyable meal.
Food was great; waiter was lackluster. Will definitely be back for any occasion. Just hope we don't get him again...almost made us feel uncomfortable. Very quiet, not personable, never responded to a "thank you," which is not a requirement, but his lack of manners was noticeable.
Went for restaurant week and had the mussels, steak, and the hazelnut mousse. The mussels were amazing and the desert was tasty. The steak wasn’t the best I’d had, but it wasn’t bad. We shared a nice bottle of wine and some fries as well. The price for my meal was about $70 including tax and tip, which wasn’t bad for a restaurant of this quality.
The food was great, we went at 9PM and felt the service was a little bit awkward, the server would come every 5 minutes and felt rushed to finish our dinner. Maybe because it was almost their closing time?
Nice environment. Service slow and abrupt. One soufflé dessert not cooked inside, but other fine .
This upscale fine dining was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. The staff is very accommodating and friendly and they had a knowledgeable sommelier that paired our meal with a beautiful wine.
Service was great and food was well cooked. The only issue is the menu is very old school and not very innovative.
Everything was acceptional with the exception of our waiter, who seemed a bit awkward. He approached the table a few times and then reconsidered and walked away (Yes, I realize I am being very particular).
The Bouillabaisse was as wonderful as I remembered it, the broth lovely and complex, the seafood prepared perfectly, croutons perfect, and plentiful enough to share with others at the table.
The lemon tart with strawberry sorbet is probably one of the loveliest desserts on the menus, aside from the soufflés
I’ll be back!
Service was slow, food was average a bit mediocre for the price. The food was very average that the person I invited mentioned that his fries tasted like a fast food place. My pasta was overcooked and didn't have much flavor, the cheeseboard didn't provide us with many interesting cheeses. Also, I had to return the wine since I was given a glass of white from a bottle that was clearly open for more than a day. Wouldn't really recommend the food but the ambiance is nice and the food is presented well.
Good food and excellent service. A bit pricey but worth it for the good quality!
There is a great vibe to this place and the service was exceptional. We'd like to see the quality and value of the food match it.
We went to Bistro du Midi for a double date night for Dine Out Boston and we had a great time! The Dine Out menu had a nice variety of different dishes, from rich/savory to light/fresh, from red meat to seafood, and some vegetarian options. And the portions were large for a 3-course meal! The wine was also excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and had a great ability to describe each dish in a delicious way. Highly recommend.
Wish we were seated on street level. It was very loud in second floor dining room-difficult to have conversation.
Food and service were excellent. Will go back & be more selective about table location.
Food excellent , service awful.
I really like this restaurant and go often.
This last visit though was disappointing— essentially no service
The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare but a bit too much salt. The presentation of the food was not well thought through and seems not deserved the chef’s attention. The restaurant week options were the chpeapest pick from the menu, far from the intention of showcasing the potential best dishes that they could offer. Overall a bit disappointing as supposedly it was one of the trendy ones with style and tastes.
My wife and I had a rare date night as the kids were away at camp and decided to have dinner here. We’ve been here before to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were impressed then. I’m happy to say Bistro du Midi still does not disappoint! Our server Juan provided top-notch service. He was very attentive without being overbearing. All of our food was prepared with care and attention. Most importantly, the meal was delicious! The mussels with coconut-vadouvan creme was wonderful. My wife had the gnocchi, which were pillowy and flavorful. My steak was perfect. We ended the meal with a delicious and decadent hazelnut mousse. We hope to return soon!
The prix fixe menu had creative options whether you want a lighter or heavier meal, more than adequate portions, complemented by pleasant and attentive staff.
Celebrated a birthday here with a lovely, leisurely lunch. Great food, very pleasant staff, and ducked rain with coffee and tea at the bar before leaving.
Bistro du Midi has really upped its game. You can rely on this restaurant for wonderful food, even at lunch. Highly recommend. And now they take lunch reservations! Marvelous.
We decided to take advantage of Restaurant Week and chose Bistro du Midi where we had had good experiences years ago. It seemed like it took an awfully long time for food to appear, even though we had ordered from the limited choices on the prix fixed menu. The food was ok, if a little salty (except for the melon soup which was watery and not very flavorful or cold,) but unexceptional.
Came here with our nine year old who adores the French Bistro experience The staff at the door was warm and accommodating and were aware of our request to sit downstairs so the my son could eat oysters la carte
The server was spectacular making certain we are aware of some value specials on a card on the table. Incredible diner centered attentiveness and solicitude.
We started with a half dozen oysters including. 4 Island Creek and two from Quonset RI. All delicious and fresh. We then moved onto the cheese plate four varied and hearty portions accompanied by a divine fig jam and almonds. We finally split the boullibasse. The tomato based sauce was spicy without over powering and the fish clams and mussels within was hearty and plentiful including a lobster tail. Wine selection is varied and economical. Just a perfect evening out!
Came here for Boston Dine-out event, the food and service was definitely awesome, this is one of my favorite French restaurant, I strongly recommend this place.
Outstanding as usual. But love to have fried artichoke back on the menu please.
The food was delicious!!!!!!! Will come back again!
More noisy than I remembered it. Service good and knowledgeable. Long lag between ordering and food arriving. Overall a bit disappointing from my recollection of prior dinners there.
Perfect location. Second floor seating has an amazing view of the park. Food is indulgent. Be ready to order dessert as portions are small. Great cocktails.
The food and ambiance was fantastic, but our server knocked it out of the park!! It felt like a truly special dining experience before our show. He made recommendations, provided beautiful descriptions, was personable, and even had the chef create a special vegan meal for one of our friends (to give him an extra choice over the salad on the menu). He then brought out a beautiful plate of little sweets on the house with a couple vegan bites.
Oysters and shrimp cocktail were not chilled.
Chicken dish was tough
Striper dish was just ok.
This restaurant needs a new chef and management
I will not go back
Delicious food in a Parisian cafe setting right in Boston! A gem
Terrific place overlooking the park for a lovely dinner with friends. The service was exquisite. The dinner delicious.
Our group tried 7 different entrees and all were excellent. Friendly & attentive service, nice table overlooking Boston Public Garden. We’ll be back!
Asked if we could sub something else for the french fries that goes with the omelet and waiter said yes, and gave us two choices to select from. On the bill, the change cost 9 dollars for veg - that isn’t a sub anymore. I would not have changed it had he told me upfront (a nice thing to do) there would be a charge, which seemed exorbitant.
Amazing food and amazing memory of the night. Seated upstairs but moved downstairs for more atmosphere - everything we had was delicious, friendly and attentive service, great location.
This place is great. In fact, it would be a regular dining spot for us if the price were lower. It has been a favorite place for special events, and on our most recent visit, the food was even better than we remembered. I highly recommend it.
Some of the courses on the tasting menu were excellent, but some were very unmemorable. The Timing in between the different courses was extremely long, which led to us getting full too quickly. Our waiter was quite attentive and did what he can to try to get the dishes out on time. One note – we were some of the last diners in the restaurant and were seated on the second floor, and noticed a mouse running across the floor several times. We told the management and they did not seem to do anything. Very off putting!!!
