Enjoyed our meal. Went on a Saturday afternoon and the only menu available was the Brunch Menu. They should offer a wider selection. Prices are a bit high, but they are located directly across from Boston Common, so taking advantage of that location.
The food was great but the server had better things to do. We understand that many establishments are short staffed and we were in no hurry but this felt like purposeful neglect.
There was a large party behind us that was having a great time which is lovely after last year but added to a din and clatter that made for a less than ideal experience.
I love this place. Total neighborhood gem. I’m sure the food is amazing. My dietary restrictions make it hard for me to find much on the menu. The service is excellent. The setting is fantastic.
Over priced for what it was.
Don't bother dressing up if you dine there, because nobody else does.
Very expensive for such a ' casual' setting and a little pretentious as a result of this.
Wonderful menu, food and atmosphere with great service. Located across from the Commons- convenient downtown locaiton.
We had to wait a little while for our food to be delivered but it was great
Food was very disappointing. Expensive but not worth it. Halibut overcooked and the seafood in the bouillabaisse was flavorless.
High end food wit excellent service and great menu. The mussels are superb.
Amazing service and great food, try the tuna tartare and the salmon, a must. We also loved the wine list, great producers!!
The perfect spot and evening for a girl’s trip to Boston! The service was impeccable as was the food and wine! Thank you for making it extra special.
I had the burger and frites. It was very good. My friend has the omelet which was a major disappointment. The menu claimed spinach but there were about 2 leaves. Underwhelming @ best!
$12 for a tiny scoop of hazelnut ice cream was a bit egregious, but everything else was pretty great. Will return!
Very nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food! Couldn't be better!
Great meal after going to the symphony. Always great food. Excellent wine list. Best Manhattan cocktail I've ever had.
Food is really good. But for a bistro, it’s expensive…..in France a bistro is a small inexpensive restaurant serving simple but good food.
Eclectic and delicious tasting menu with wine pairings that was well thought out and very nicely paired. Service needs to be refined a touch - they should serve the women first (sexist or chivalrous- you decide) and avoid reaching over guests. Not a big deal as the food made up for any service lapses.
Nice place. Great service. We sat outside. Would go again!
We requested outdoor seating and the staff was very accommodating. Service was great, the menu varied, and the lunch food very good. The carrot soup was creamy and delicious, the burgers very tasty. The French fries arrived cold but were quickly replaced with ones that were hot and very delicious. The moderate noise rating refers to traffic on busy Boylston Street, so we have no reading of indoor noise level, but my sense on walking through to use the restroom is that it was very peaceful indoors.
We loved dinning at Bistro du midi! Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Service from waiter could use improvement.
The food is outstanding!! It’s really worth the wait and the money. The service was really slow. But we noticed they’re very shortstaffed. it wasn’t a that big deal even though I was pretty hungry. The ambiance is quite New England , extremely simple for my taste. But it’s also understandable.
I’d definitely come back for delicious food
Loved this place.
Meeting with friends, family dinner, clients or a simple date - Du Midi is always great.
There food is fantastic. I tasted the best rib eye and pasta carbonara in my life.
Nice location being right across the way from the public garden with good views of the area. Cocktails on the menu were great. The straightforward dirty martini that we ordered... Not so much. The tuna tartare tasted fresh and delicious. Oysters were fresh as well. Spanish octopus was delicious but wish you got more than one tentacle. The rib eye steak was delicious as well but the filet mignon came out rather bland and tasted burnt though it was appropriately medium rare in cooking. The pomme purée was delicious as well. Our only gripe - the Brussels were not cooked through at all, tasted raw and were cold inside. Had to send them back. Overall, would probably not go back.
Friends night out. Excellent food, atmosphere and service!
Service was amazing and the romantic setting is why I came back. The food was absolutely delicious.
Delicious brunch in a beautiful setting! We really enjoyed our meal in the upstairs dining room at Bistro du Midi. We started with a sampling of the pastries and cups of coffee. Both reminded us of Paris - flaky croissants and good coffee (although the cups are way too small)! Continuing on the theme of being in France, most of us followed up with Croque Madame. Excellent cheese and ham with the perfectly cooked egg on top! The others ordered Lemon Ricotta pancakes (emphasis on lemon!) and fresh fruit plate with a side of perfectly poached eggs.
The service was a bit too much like being in France: good when they do pay attention to you. The various staff were politely friendly, but not as attentive (e.g. having to get refills of the aforementioned cups required us having to track someone down to ask on multiple occasions) as we would have liked. My guess is the general staffing shortage at restaurants has also affected this place.
Food is usually good but brunch was disappointing. I ordered a feta, spinach omelette and it was not light and fluffy. It was rubbery and hard - almost like it was cooked and reheated. Also there was almost no feta and spinach. The sangria was good as usual, as were the potatoes. The dinner seems more consistent.
Good was fair
The noise level was off the charts upstairs.
I’m been here a few times. Surprised.
Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the noise, unfortunately there was surprise construction happening in the condo units above our restaurant that we were not made aware would be happening that day. Regarding your service, I would love to hear more about your experience as we're always looking to improve. Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org m if you are open to speaking about your visit. Warmest, Allison
Poor disjointed service.
My husband and I came to nosh before the Red Sox/Yankees game so we were limited to the brunch menu, which was fine. The flatbread was fine (above average) and the standout dish was by far the venison tartare, which we understood was just added to 5e menu a few days before. This was indeed the WOW dish of the day so I’d highly recommend it to anyone…a great representation of French food at its best. My husband had the burger while I had the mussels. He said the burger was good, but nothing memorable. I felt the mussels were above average for Boston and appreciate the placement of a halved grape tomato in each mussel. The broth was solid too.
The kitchen was likely a little backed up so we understand the delay in bringing out the entree portion, but it was unusually long. The pomegranate lemonade was wonderful.
We may come back to check out their dinner menu but, again, I highly recommend the venison tartare. I’d order one to not share next time.
We had a wonderful meal sampling different apps and enjoying great cocktails outside on the sidewalk. Gorgeous day, kind and attentive service, superb food and drink.
The outdoor seating is fantastic! Honestly, this makes this such a wonderful place to go during Covid. And the service is truly first rate. I have to eat around dietary restrictions which is a bit frustrating given the beautiful menu here. But I’ve found something that I enjoy and that’s delicious. It’s just that, quite often, it’s prepared incorrectly, in spite of good communication between the server and me. In summary, I love Bistro du Midi and am grateful to live nearby. I’m hoping for ordering to go more smoothly in the future. For those ordering, as is, from the menu, this place is perfection.
Had an amazing one year anniversary experiencing the tasting menu with the wine pairing :)
Beautiful setting. The appetizers were quite good. The salmon was very good. The special pasta was also very good but $70?!?!. We also had 2 steaks and frites. One steak was cooked to order but the meat had no flavor while the other was over cooked to the order and tasteless. As for the frites they were more like French fries in a fast food place truffle oil or not. On criticism we were given all reasons as to why I was wrong. After that, we were ignored completely. Not even thank you for the tip!!!
I will go back for a drink as the setting is so beautiful but will not bring over guests for dinner.
Hi there, I am sorry to hear your experience for dinner was perfection across the board, that is not at all our standard. Our pasta specials are based upon the product used, for example, white truffle pasta. We're so glad you will return for drinks, but would certainly like to win back your trust for a 5 star dinner experience. If you are willing to discuss your visit further and how we can improve, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com m Warmest, Allison
Our first experience back in Boston. We ate here years ago but Covid stopped everything. It was such a great meal. Oysters were cold cleaned well. The beet salad was tasty. Salmon delicious. Will be back. Had a hard time deciding from the great menu.
Thank you! We look forward to your next visit.
Best steak I have had in years. Great service. Pleasant atmosphere. I will be back for sure!
Lovely French-inspired indoor and outdoor cafe. The food was excellent. I am partial to the bavette steak frite. My martini was perfect. My two additional guests also enjoyed the experience. You can not get reservations for the downstairs Bistro. However, reservations are taken for the more formal dining room upstairs.
Thank you so much! You can always request downstairs in your reservation and we will do our best to accommodate!
