We, and I especially, were left shook because the food was just that good
Outstanding food and service!
My husband and I dined here for Valentines Day. The food and service was outstanding! I am allergic to a few things and best of all I never had to worry or change items that I might have wanted to eat because of my allergy. The waiter and chef took care of it all.
Warm welcome, excellent service and great environment. Good for dating and special occasions.
Superb food, gracious and friendly service, classy design, I would gladly recommend it to a friend. A little pricey: $100 p.p. for 2 courses and wine toward the lower end of their list. But a lovely experience.
Well located on Boylston near the Four Seasons Hotel. Warm room (upstairs). Swanky bar (downstairs) Highly attentive staff. Much of the food was too salty. Beet Gnocci was an exception. Cauliflower soup taste was a bit too subtle. Fine for a business dinner or fancy grownup celebration if you want to be in the neighborhood.
I sent business associates here for a dinner meeting and they loved it so much they returned to dine again the night after. In Boston with a choice of so many fine restaurants, that really says something about Bistro du Midi. Their menu can please vegetarians without feeling like vegetarian dishes were begrudging concessions. Thank you BDM!
A great place to have a very good Sunday brunch. I will certainly return.
Service was terrible. Waiter did not bring us bread even though he gave it to every other table until we asked. Never checked on us. Finished dinner for a while before he came to collect our plates and bring out the dessert. He was literally checking on every table except ours, very rude and ruined our overall experience.
Delicious food, great ambiance, a little spotty on the service.....
The food is tasty. But I wam so cunfused why they couldn't tell me the real quantity of each, even I asked them
twice. They said the amount was for each person, but ceetainly not, too much! And for ice-cream, I want to order one for each person, never say 'share'! But they gave me 'sharing' peices. I could hardly believe it is the action of a French restaraunt.
Overall a nice experience. Cauliflower soup was delicious. We had to send our salad back because they did not serve the dressing on the side as requested. They readily acocmadated the request.. The salmon dish was excellent. The side of potatoes were good, buy were salted-something we are not used to. We had the sorbet for dessert which was excellent. I would come here again.
I ordered the Salmon and loved it! It was very well cooked - crispy on the outside, soft inside. Nice environment, definitely suitable for a date night!
There is an amazing brunch menu, duck and waffles were crazy! Also, the service was great!
It was a good place for a nice pre-theater brunch and cocktail.
I decided after our first visit that I would bring friends for my birthday!
We had an amazing time. There was a party in the room which took away from the experience and the view..
Loved our very FRENCH meal here. Was great for befor the play at Boston opera house
We made a reservation for 7pm and arrived 10 minutes early. Staff told us the table was not ready yet and would take a few minutes. After about 8 minutes, we went upstairs and noticed half the dining room was empty. All tables were already setup. Why they made us wait the 8 minutes, I have no idea.
The Tuna Tartare was fresh but lacked flavor. Presentation was mediocre with dark colors.
I ordered the Monkfish and Escargot as an entree and the monkfish was excellent in flavor and temperature. The escargots were cold, bland, chewy and rather fishy. Plating was very pleasing.
The Seafood Bouillabaisse was a good portion and temperature was served hot. However, flavor was not the best as it was over seasoned. The flavors took away from the freshness of the seafood.
The Chocolate Souffle was the best item served. It was the perfect consistency and texture. Very light and moist in the center with a small scoop of ice-cream. Our waitress also brought the Chocolate Stout Gingerbread with Eggnog Ice-Cream for the birthday girl at the table. That was also excellent in flavor and texture.
Salad was all iceberg. Not very nutritious offerings.
Bistro du Midi is one of my favorite places in Boston. I often take out of town guests there as I did last Saturday. The meal was excellent and the service attentive yet non-intrusive. The room is so comfortable and lively without being too noisy to talk.
Food was very good. It is very overpriced compared to many of the finer restaurants in Boston.
The space is beautiful, both downstairs, where thesre’s a casual, bar ambiance, and upstairs in the more refined restaurant area. The staff isvery professional and buttoned-up but not at all stuffy. The food is complex and interesting but absolutely delicious and never too “creative”. Have the octopus appetizer. No kidding.
Bistro du Midi never disappoints. We went there for brunch before the theater. Seated by the window, it was a bit crowded but once the table next door vacated, things quieted down. The service was wonderful. Wait person was personable and attentive but let us linger for 2 hours enjoying the food. The cauliflower soup was an interesting combination of flavors and textures. We shared the entrees... Lemon ricotta pancakes were incredibly yummy... very decadent and feta, mushroom omelet. Omelet was a little bland but the accompanying fries were nice and spicy and it came with a light salad on the side. The menu has something for everyone and the bill came in under $100 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 cocktails which we thought was quite reasonable. Great ambiance with a view of the Common. Dinner menu looked equally intriguing, but a little pricier.
Went for a romantic birthday dinner. The ambiance was a bit less romantic and cozy than I’d hoped. The noise level was louder than expected, due in part to a private party next to the main dining room, but also due to the room’s acoustics and openness. The table for two we sat at was narrow and long, so that I felt too far away from my partner to hold hands or speak at a softer volume. The food, however, was delicious!
Food was outstanding, service was excellent. ONLY problem is the noise level. We were there with another couple and all four of noticed that we had to lean in to hear, that we were asking each other to repeat things and generally distracted by the noise (and no we are young and have good hearing!).
We have been to Bistro du Midi 3 times and each time has been outstanding. You won’t go wrong here. A very special restaurant.
Very good food. Same goes for service, but they seemed to be a bit understaffed for a high quality restaurant. The dining room is on the second floor, but the bathroom is on the first where the bar is. Not ideal.
Omelettes and steak were unpleasantly salty
Our server was nice but will disappear for long periods of time with no one checking on us (restaurant was not full)
Poached eggs were served cold
Overall a disappointing experience (for my party of six) for such an establishment
Met a friend for lunch. We sat downstairs where it is elegant and comfortable.
Food was absolutely amazing! It was truly Perfect in every way!
I lean towards vegetarian and the menu was wonderful for my preferences - beet gnocchi yumm.
Beautiful view and not at all rushed by our waiter.
I plan to return.
1/2 bottle cost the same as a full bottle elsewhere. Otherwise decent value
Wonderful dining experience with fabulous food and gracious service in a comfortable setting.
Mom came in town. We both loved this place! Nice ambience if you get the window seat overlooking the common. The tasting menu was incredible! The dessert duck egg creams brûlée with IPA chocolate ice cream was amazing!
Have been there several times and it has always been a very pleasant experience. Good food, good service, nice ambiance, easy valet parking in and out. Quality is always high.
Came for dinner. Exceptional food, exceptional service, great space! Probably the best meal we’ve had in a couple years. This was our first time here and it’s definitely a (the?) new favorite. Fantastic.
Went there to celebrate New Year’s Eve they presented us with a prefixed menu there nothing I could eat from prefixed so the manager gave us a bar menu. Due prefix there were a lot of empty tables . Next please remove your prefix menu like other restaurants and give everyone a wider choice
New Years Eve dinner couldn’t have been worse. All the food tasted like it was pre-made the day before. All four of us were equally disappointed with our food. Really embarrassed for the restaurant. So far off the mark that it’s hard to imagine good food coming out of that kitchen...ever. Sorry for the harsh words but it felt like you went out of your way to make the food taste so poorly.
