Bistro Don Giovanni -- Napa Ratings and Reviews
I had heard from friends that this was a good restaurant and I was not disappointed! I tried the spinach/cheese ravioli with lemon cream sauce and it was delicious. My friend had the risotto of the day, which was mushroom risotto with seared scallops. I liked that even better than mine! She had the tiramisu (she said it was very good) and I had the "BOSTINI" TRIFLE, which had vanilla custard, chocolate cake, whipped creme, clear caramel, toasted almonds in a tall, fluted glass. It was actually a little to rich for me, but I know most other people would probably love it. Service was friendly, professional and attentive. I will definitely come back!
This is a restaurant we visit every time we Escape to Napa. Food is consistently good.
This time, we felt rushed. Our entrees came out before we were even done with our appetizer. Every time we slowed down someone wanted to take our plates. We were done, and irritated, in 45 minutes.
Food was very good. Loved the fritto misto and the gnocchi. Wood fired pizza was good. Wine list has a number of good choices by the glass, the half bottle or the bottle. The dining room is lovely and has been well taken care of over the years. There is plenty of parking.
No one comes to an Italian restaurant for a hurried meal. I will still come back. Next time I will be more aggressive in telling our waiter to slow down the pace.
Food here is good as we returned here for a 2nd visit. We sat in the back room with large groups. Got the table next to a roaring wood burning fireplace which keep us warm. We tried the fritti midtown which was ok. Not greasy with a mix of calamari, shrimp and Vegas. The beet salad was wonderful. I really enjoyed the pasta pesto. Silky wide layered pasta which were like thin sheets. Hubby had the veal gnocchi. He thought the sauce was too salty. I tried a few pieces of the pasta and it was good. We were too stuffed to try dessert. Next time would skip the appetizer.
Every dish we ordered was exceptional! It took quite a while to finally order what we wanted. We loved the Fritti Misto, the lamp ragu Gnocchi, the petrale sole, the lamp shank, the bread, the wines (both Italian), and the tiramisu and creme brûlée. Oh and the coffee too. Our waiter was good, though a bit flip but in all fairness it was a busy lunch crowd on a Friday. We got everything we asked for with courtesy.
We've enjoyed Bistro Don Giovanni over the years and have always enjoyed our meal and dining experience. This evening was an early dinner so the wait staff had numerous occasions to check in with us. The only issue that occurred was the delivery of our main course before we had finished our salad. My guess is the kitchen, which is used to a fast pace, was very efficient with the small numbers of patrons at 6PM as the rush of new diners started arriving. Other than this, we again enjoyed our dinner, the ambiance and our service. We'll be back!
The most fantastic experience! Bistro Don Giovanni’s is my number 1 favorite place to dine in Napa Valley! I am in my mid-20’s and unlike some restaurants that tend to undervalue younger guests, Bistro Don Giovanni provides unbeatable service time and time again! I have dined at Bistro Don Giovanni’s with my mom, my friends and other family members. Every time I have been impressed by their seasonal menu, local ingredients and terrific service. Some of my favorite fall/winter dishes include the ravioli with the lemon cream sauce (the red sauce is good but I loved the lemon sauce), lasagne with homemade noodles, and the ravioli di zucca. In the summer, the butter lettuce salad with fresh peaches and goat cheese and the fresh fig pizza are unbelievable. Bistro Don Giovanni is truly a gem in Napa Valley.
This was our first visit to Napa and Don Giovanni was our absolute favorite restaurant. My husband wanted to see if we could eat there again the following night. The food was great and the service was perfect. It was busy and I suspect reservations are always a good idea!
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Even though it's a big room , you don't feel lost because the attention paper the staff is excellent. The menu get to a wide Friday of large and small dishes. The wine list is terrific, as you would expect in the Napa Valley. Lots of locals come here, so it feels a little less touristy than some other places. When the weather is warm, there is patio and outdoor seating, which is especially nice. You can't go wrong here.
This is Giselle not Jerry! lol, I went with my girlfriend for a girls night treat. We split the beet salad and we each order the salmon dish which was perfect we finished up with the flourless chocolate cake that we also split. The service was outstanding Ricardo and his team did an outstanding job!
Always fabulous! When Foodie Daughter comes up from LA to visit, we make the Bistro our first dinner stop and are never disappointed with our choices.
My only complaint - the noise factor is beyond "energetic", it's LOUD and awfully difficult to hear the waiter, let alone carry on normal conversations.
