Bistro Don Giovanni -- Napa Ratings and Reviews
Always fabulous! When Foodie Daughter comes up from LA to visit, we make the Bistro our first dinner stop and are never disappointed with our choices.
My only complaint - the noise factor is beyond "energetic", it's LOUD and awfully difficult to hear the waiter, let alone carry on normal conversations.
Not my first time at Bistro Don Giovanni, but first time with my kiddos. We went for lunch and it was a great experience. They serve pizza for kids with with a pule of french fries in the center. Perfect! Our service was amazing and the food never disappoints.
First time there, looked good, staff was very friendly, good scene. My cocktail was yummy, my husbands drink was very watered down (sat too long at bar). The food was just okay. Not bad just not great. Nothing we ate did we say “that’s amazing”. For my main course I had salmon.... not exciting but the mash potatoes were good. Wish a veggie was present. My husband had the 45$ steak... piles of weird cut meat and fries no veggies. He didn’t like his steak plate. I saw sides of veggies you could order but glad we didn’t because it would have been too much food and more money. I liked the atmosphere but it was loud. Again people were really nice but the food wasn’t good enough to come back. Not bad food!!!! Just not very good.
Not impressed at all. My husband and I went there for our seven year anniversary. It was a special day for us and we chose this place. I even put that in our reservation request. Got there - no greeting or congratulations. We got seated. I asked the waiter what the signature dish is or what is the most popular, he said “everything is popular.” And when I pressed to say there has to be something that stands out more than others, he just recited the whole menu to me! (At the very least, you can say what YOUR fav dish is..) nonetheless, we ordered the beet salad and I had the salmon. Husband had the lamb shank. Dishes were ok. Nothing spectacular. I really wanted to love this place (given the reviews) but it was just average in my books.
From beginning, with a very warm welcome by the hostess, to the service of not only our super attentive waitress, but also those assisting her, to the once again tamazing food.....it was a fantastic night out! We always leave, looking forward to returning again at a not too distant date! ❤️
Giovanni is the man and so was our server Benjamin!! This place was recommended by my fellow restaurant experts at work. The food was so delicious, restaurant is beautiful, and everything looked so good. We left very full and already planning the next time we need to go back!!
Love this restaurant, very cozy and great food. We brought our own wines and there was a modest 20 corkage fee. I got the roasted chicken which our waitperson Ruth recommended, it was wonderful. She was very lively and fun and attentive but not too over the top. The fireplace room is the place to eat. My husband got the oxtail which was prepared just like oscco..buco.. very tender and juicy. We will return on our next visit to Napa.
My family has been going to Bistro Don Giovanni for over 15 years and always considers it a must when we are in the Napa Valley. This last experience was very disappointing - from the food to the service, things have really gone downhill. I ordered the osso buco special, and it was dry and stringy, and the frito misto, which is usually light and delicious, was heavy and greasy. Our server was very nonchalant about our disappointment, and I finally asked to speak to a manager who removed these two items from our check. We were very surprised upon arriving to find that the restaurant was almost empty, and now we know why.
Everything about this place is awesome! The patio was a welcoming touch when you walk in. Everyone was super nice. The bartender made the most delicious drink called the Pom Pom Cosmo. My husband had the Clams with Spaghetti and I had the Ravioli! Both were delicious! Will definitely go back next time we are visiting Napa!
