Our fish dishes were tasty and cooked to our specifications. Service also was attentive.

What French resto runs out of baguette?!

The menu was more expensive than the $ rating indicated. Almost all entries were above $30. The wine list was skewed to very expensive choices. The food was good but not in line with the prices.

On our recent visit the food was somewhat hit or miss. My steak frites was excellent. My wife's moules were unpleasant. The frisée salad was mediocre. But the service was really attentive. Our server instantly brought me a replacement glass of wine when I didn't like the first one I was served. And she whisked away the offensive mussels without a murmer and without charging us. She even topped off our wine glasses - gratus - as we finished our meal. Very thoughtful!

Manny and his team always do a terrific job. William our usual waiter is attentive and very polite. Food is consistently good especially the Moules et Frites.

I booked a table for myself after an evening event in Manhattan. The table was ready, the staff were super-friendly, and the service was prompt but not rushed. The food and wine were exceptionally good. It's sometimes uncomfortable for a single woman diner to eat fairly late at night, but I felt warmly welcomed and beautifully treated at Bistro Cassis. Highly recommended!

This place is a gem and the quality of the food and overall dining experience is reflected by the fact that they are always packed. Excellent french food. A very reasonable and well curated wine list. A charming ambiance. We will be repeat customers.

The food was excellent. The service was superb and the wine recommendation was spot on.
Reasonable pricing options for Manhattan.

My companion's dish was wonderful (calve's liver) but stay away from the Canard À L'Orange, which was dry and tasteless. What's worse is the attitude of the staff; when we complained about the duck, the server shrugged and said "sometimes it turns out that way."

We chose this place for a pre-opera meal based on the 4+ level reviews of other OT diners. Not sure where they ate. The best thing about it was a duck dish, although two of us ordered it - exactly the same way - and only one was well prepared. The liver dish was so over sauced with balsamic as to be inedible. The starters of escargot and warm brie were OK, but nothing special - and the brie it self was hardly warm. The wine list was meh, and the service generally distracted. Won't be back

It took 1 hour to get our food, we got a table in the corner at the entrance, the owner/manager said to everybody the same "it will take 10 mins for a table" while the restaurant was full with the result we were waiting our food then eating with a crowed line of people behind us keeping them 2 doors open...so disappointed.
The food was regular nothing special, I really can't understand the 5 stars of previous reviews...

As usual, the food here is exceptional for a neighborhood bistro. Service is courteous but uneven. Portion size is adequate but not generous. My only real hesitation is with the price: two entrees, one wine, one dessert, two coffees came to $120 including tax and tip. But, hey, this is NYC.

Serviceable neighbourhood restaurant that is always reliable. Food is always good. Service, while occasionally a bit chaotic is usually pleasant and efficient. The manager is always gracious and helpful.

This is a classic high end bistro. The food is well prepared and of very excellent quality. The wine selection is super. We have been here many times. It’s not an innovative menu but a very satisfying traditional French preparation.

Had a lovely dinner here before going on to a concert at Lincoln Center. From other reviews, I was aware that the place gets busy later and on weekends; but this was a Thursday night, and we ate at 6. The bar was a friendly place to wait for my companion, and when we sere seated we have a nice quiet seat with some great food -- the skate special was great. Ill be back.

We have dined at Bistro Cassis in the past and enjoyed it. That is why we made a 7:15 reservation last Saturday night. A movie we saw nearby, on West 78th Street ended at 7:10. I called Bistro Cassis and explained to the woman who answered the phone that we would be right over. She said it was no problem. We arrived closer to 7:25. The place was packed and people were lined up for a table to open up. OUR TABLE WAS GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE, even though we called to explain. The manager told me that they have many people booking thru Open Table that make multiple reservations and don’t always show up. I explained that we called. It didn’t matter—-he had given away our table. No apology. No trying to accommodate us. I prefer to go somewhere else next time.

We've been to Bistro Cassis many times, usually before a performance at nearby Lincoln Center, and it never fails to deliver on very good French cuisine. My trout almondine and my husband's sole meuniere were both tasty and nicely presented. All the staff are friendly and efficient. The one sour note, for the table at which we sat (and at which we'd never sat before), was the shaky floor, which rumbled like an earthquake every time someone walked by. So, a word to the wise - by all means enjoy your meal at Bistro Cassis, but avoid Table 20/1.

It's a small, busy authentic French bistro . ... but it's on Columbus Ave, Manhattan, not on the left bank in Paris. The food - I had exquisitely cooked lamb - and attentive service are excellent. I was dining alone, so it didn't really matter, but the place - which was completely full - would have been a bit too noisy for some people and certainly not suitable for a romantic tete-a-tete. And it's a bit pricey. But ... I'd eat there again and recommend it to anyone who likes real French food. Oh yes, and it's really handy if you're going to the Lincoln Center, as I was ...

My teenage daughter and I went there before seeing a performance at Lincoln Center. The location was great. We got there around 5 and were one of the first tables seated but next thing we knew the place was packed! Everything from the service to the food were great! The owner was there greeting people with a smile. I could just tell he was the owner from how he presented himself. He was very proud of his restaurant. We would definitely make it a point to go back!

Came in for a relatively quick bite on New Years between two movies. Server was very accommodating, not the least upset that we were not there for a fully elaborate meal. That kind of service deserves an excellent tip. Still, with only about an hour, we were able to have a salad and a really delicious filet of sole. All in all very pleased. (The noise level does get quite high, however, in this restaurant)

Went to Bistro Cassis on New Years eve. The food was very authentic french bistro fare with several items such as escargots and duck a l'orange that you rarely find on NYC french restaurant menus. Food was excellent though the service was rushed; probably because it was new year's eve. House wine by the bottle or glass was very good and not over-priced. Would recommend this restaurant as a solid neighborhood option with lots of local appeal.

Bistro Cassis is a truly authentic French Bistro Restaurant that offers consistently good food. The Salad Cassis, Pear Salad and the Salade Lyonnaise are particularly good starters. The Sole Meuniere is consistently excellent as is the steak au poivre. And save room for the Profiterole for dessert.

The Manager and Host, Manny, is always gracious and welcoming to us. And the wait staff is always very nice. We highly recommend Bistro Cassis and have done so to our friends, who have always enjoyed it.
