Our favorite restaurant! No one does it better!
Great food and service. A great place for foodies, good vine list. Highly recommend to anyway who enjoys quality French food. Fantastic specials every day.
Food delicious, service solicitous and welcoming. One of my favorite places!
We go here often for everyday dining. This was an early dinner with a friend. Appetizers came in good time but the entrees didn’t show up for nearly 40 minutes with no explanation.
Food was a bit “off” in general. We will see how things are next time.
Great food and ambience.
Good solid French menu - the usual fare but well prepared - tables are squished but the service is excellent and attentive
We waited a very long time for mussels. No apologies.
We had one glass of wine each and two orders of mussels and had to pay extra for a side of fries. The bill was $111. Seems high for what we got.
My friends and I met for our monthly lunch. Two of us were waiting for the third party and we were never rushed, stared at, or made to feel uncomfortable at any time. We had a lovely lunch, wonderful wine and a great time was had by all! Definitely will return!!
Mediocre at best. Literally tasteless mush. I had the
Scallops and Shrimp (coquilles saint jacques avec crevettes). It was empty but somehow our server was inattentive and otherwise engaged.
We love this local spot. I ordered the Roquefort and ham stuffed chicken breast it came with mashed potatoes that were whipped to perfection!
very good French food and wines by the glass with service that shows promise but is a bit lackluster. and the prices are a bit high. would come with friends once in awhile.
Great food, exceptional service
Merveilleuse. Great food and charming setting. Loved it.
Classic french bistro. Warm hospitality and delicious food.
C'est Magnifique! Food is good quality and always tasty. Had lunch with a friend. My salad was good. My friend had Salmon which was delicious (yes, I asked for some). I'm here often for dinner and the choice are a good assortment of french fare. Wines by the glass are affordable (for NYC). Must check the full wine list sometime.
I was a solo woman dining last Sunday evening at Bistro Cassis and it was an experience I would not like to repeat. I rarely dine at restaurants alone and was looking forward to my meal after a concert at Lincoln Center. (I had a hankering for French Onion Soup and had picked this restaurant after some research, which indicated they had among the best versions in the neighborhood.) Unfortunately, the service at Bistro Cassis left me soured on the evening and the food was not much better. Too bad. Whether I'm dining alone or with others, I won't be returning to Bistro Cassis.
Immediately after being seated, my (male) server asked whether I wanted anything from the bar. Whether it was my response (indicating that I would not be drinking alcohol) or something else, his indifference to me was noticeable from that point on. I ordered salad and soup. The food was mediocre - not awful, but also not stellar. It took a while to get a piece of bread and my salad. After finishing my salad, I sat for a considerable period with no food, as my server passed by numerous times and didn't seem to notice me or my lack of food. Finally a woman server came over and inquired what I had ordered. Although she did not seem assigned to my table, her attention was the one bright spot in the service. She roused my server, who came by, muttered something about the kitchen being busy, and walked away. I waited again, until he brought my soup. After I finished, he gave me a dessert menu, but didn't come back to check on me for a rather long while. The only time he paid attention to me was when he brought the bill - then he stood over me as I put my credit card into the folder. Interestingly, the manager (or owner?) was around during this time, paying considerable attention to other tables - particularly a family dining next to me - but he also did not seem to notice or care about me or my meal.
We moved to the UWS recently and found this neighborhood gem while walking around. We loved the food, ambience, and service. We will definitely be back!
Always a pleasure to eat in this cozy Upper West bistro. Service is excellent and food si the traditional French fare one would expect in a local Paris haunt. A local gem.
Waiter was impatient at times.
This was the perfect spot to celebrate a family birthday. To start with, the brunch menu is very extensive - probably the largest I have ever seen, and filled with a great offering of breakfast choices, salads, sandwiches or entrees. Prices are reasonable, especially for the Upper West Side. Will definitely be back!
I enjoyed dinner on Saturday. I found the price of the lobster salad quite hight considering the small amount of lobster in the salad.
A nice surprise in the Lincoln Center area. Really good French fare. Cute atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Good food, nice service our neighborhood favorite
Although I would not regard this as a "destination" restaurant, it is a satisfactory neighborhood resource. The food and service are good, but not outstanding. My medium steak seemed to be overdone although still not to the extent that it was tough. My wife thought the center was pink, but barely so only I spots - however, the lighting (low level) made it difficult to tell. The French onion soup, however, was very good. One of the things my friends and I appreciated was the leisurely no rush atmosphere.
Excellent food, excellent service. Going back next week a new group of friends!!! NOT noisy, easy to have conversation.
Food generally has been very good. This time my fish was dry but still tasty. Portions are generous. Service also is good.
Perfect little French bistro. Felt like I do when I’m eating in Paris.
One of our favorite Bistros in Manhattan. The food is terrific. Love this place.
Delicious and consistent
We live in the UES and have some great French restaurants there. Found Bistro Cassis on open table and were very pleased. Good food, great service. Nice ambiance. Will go again.
I have coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Service, atmosphere, food...all on point. Thank you Bistro Cassis!
My wife and I had a most wonderful experience. The choice of cuisine was excellent; the customer service was very attentive; the ambiance reminded us of a bistro in Paris.
Absolutely perfect experience. My family and I loved the food and will be 100% coming back. Homerun!!
This is an upscale restaurant and I would have expected pleasant service. Our waiter couldn’t be bothered to be there. He didn’t want to advise me on whether I should have the duck or the steak. I took the steak, which was a mistake, because even though it was one of the more expensive cuts, it turned out to have loads of gristle that made me gag. And when I told him about it, he was snotty and didn’t believe me. I really resented having to tip him at all.
Very good food. Traditional as well as choices for mote modern eaters. Prices higher than I remember.
The food is very good. But the tables are so close to each other that your certain to be bumped into numerous times. That certainly diminishes the dining experience. It was especially annoying this time, when they added a 5th chair to a 4 seat table.
Love this place. Food and service is always great. It Aways makes me feel like I’m away at a Bistro in Paris but with a much nicer wait staff.
