Bistro Boudin Ratings and Reviews
I had called a few times prior to arrival because my party size kept growing. When we all sat at a large table they made up ( which was nice) it took 15 minutes before a waiter came. another 10 minutes for water, etc. Really not a good reflection on me as the host and I would not go back.
I chose Bistro Boudin because of excellent past experiences: dates over the years; 30th wedding anniversary, etc. On Dec 3, 2017 our family celebrated the birthdays of 2 grandsons. Thank you for seating us in the northwest fireside room and the birthday dessert with candles. These brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately, I had to leave our party three times to get the waiter including to make payment; the dungeness crab dinners were too salty, greasy and not crab tasty. The other guests didn't complain but didn't mention the great meal which they have had in the past. I am wondering what happened? Our family loves Boudin sour dough etc. This recent experience gives us pause.
I've been here several times. Great location and validated parking. Not the best for gluten free because of all the flour dust, but they do try to provide GF options. I was a little disappointed in the paella. My husband had it once and it was served in a cast iron skillet. Mine was served on a plate. I thought it was too oily but otherwise it was very tasty and the seafood was fresh. Our waiter was very good.
We come here often and really much enjoy this restaurant. The food is delicious the service is generally very good and you can’t beat the view.
This time, we had a not so great experience. Our plates were cleared while we were in conversation and didn’t even have a chance to ask for a box to take home the leftovers. The waitress kept coming by-busboys too and clearing everyone’s dishes so quickly. I hate when restaurant to do that. It makes the slow eater’s feel slow and the fast eater’s feel like pigs. I always ask to please leave the dishes until the last person is finished. It was quite annoying-although our waiter was excellent, I felt rushed this time as they were clearing dishes constantly. We were large group celebrating and this just really killed the mood. We even ordered champagne so you’d think they would have known to not push and rush. It was more of the clearers then the waiter.
Overall, food was fine, but don't come here for any kind of service. From the lack of greeting from the hostess, and instead, decided to take a phone call. To the mis-info listed on their website for a complimentary drink. If you are ok with asking for a refill every time, and being ignored, then this place is right for you! The only saving grace, will be the enjoyment your kids will have if you order the turtle bread bowl. Very cute, and they will enjoy it.
The service and food were excellent. Our waiter showed great commitment to his work, being very pleasant and helpful. The food was served in a very reasonable time, and was attractive and very well prepared. I would highly recommend Boudin to anyone, and return again.
The place was very nice but the server was snotty and rude. I could have gotten the same service going to a burger joint and pay WAY LESSSS than i did. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF USING VOUCHERS. Parking is horrible Asked place to validate and they didnt and i had to go back in for them to fix. Overall this will be the last time i will go back unless they show me a reason to return.
Other than a slight glitch with our reservation, all was excellent. Beautiful space and views, and food was great all around (especially that bread!)
Convenient location near Fisherman's wharf and Pier 39, but definitely a huge step up from the chain/ tourist spots in the area. The bakery museum and views over the bakery itself in action were a nice added touches.
We never miss a chance to stop at Boudin's when we're in San Francisco. Food was delicious! He had the Cuban sandwich and I the clam chowder. Service was a bit poor. We were really thirsty when we visited and although we knew we had to request refills, it was extremely difficult to flag down our waiter just to make the request. Will still go back in the future.
Kind of a tourist trap, but the food delivers on the promise. Make a reservation if possible because it will be busy. Waiter was some inattentive but always nice and friendly. If going to San Francisco again with other family who had not been there, would consider going again, but would not go again by myself.
We went for the Travelzoo deal and we were totally disappointed. We thought that since we are so close to the pier that the seafood must be fresh. We were totally wrong. The crab in the cioppino was not fresh at all. There were no claims in my claim chowder not to mention that the soup was not even enough for a cup of soup in that bread bowl. I had their claim chowder in their bread bowl downstairs before and they were good but not upstairs. One would think that a restaurant would give you much better quality of food.
We used a Travelzoo certificate for 3 course meals for two and the value was excellent and the food was fantastic!! We got the signature sourdough bread bowl and the cioppino which was amazing. Service was great and very friendly vibe. They serve local wines too. A fun night!
