we have gone their many times and always had a great experience until yesterday. my wife's mashed potatoes had some undefined items in them and my order was wrong - twice. we will pass going forward
The service and food were excellent. Our waiter showed great commitment to his work, being very pleasant and helpful. The food was served in a very reasonable time, and was attractive and very well prepared. I would highly recommend Boudin to anyone, and return again.
The place was very nice but the server was snotty and rude. I could have gotten the same service going to a burger joint and pay WAY LESSSS than i did. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF USING VOUCHERS. Parking is horrible Asked place to validate and they didnt and i had to go back in for them to fix. Overall this will be the last time i will go back unless they show me a reason to return.
Other than a slight glitch with our reservation, all was excellent. Beautiful space and views, and food was great all around (especially that bread!)
Convenient location near Fisherman's wharf and Pier 39, but definitely a huge step up from the chain/ tourist spots in the area. The bakery museum and views over the bakery itself in action were a nice added touches.
Excellent Anniversary celebration dinner location. Great location, service, and food. Definitely will visit again.
Spent the day in the City and had an early dinner late lunch. We had a reservation and got seat right on time. Great views of the Bay and perfect location
Best meal we had while in San Francisco. Fun tour after also.
Over all good all a experience in a busy touristy part of town.
I was able to get a table reservation very easily. The menu had plenty options for my family of 4. The apps came out very quickly. We'd definitely dine here again.
Nice restaurant with great views of the piers and water. The chowder in a bread bowl was amazing!
We never miss a chance to stop at Boudin's when we're in San Francisco. Food was delicious! He had the Cuban sandwich and I the clam chowder. Service was a bit poor. We were really thirsty when we visited and although we knew we had to request refills, it was extremely difficult to flag down our waiter just to make the request. Will still go back in the future.
We bought a Travelzoo prix fixe menu. The value was wonderful. The goat cheese appetizer was fantastic. The clam chowder was amazing. The cippino and seafood paella was great! Our server, John, was spot on! He was super! Highly recommend.
Good food and service. The steak and scallops were great, but really overpriced. It was too bad since I had a Travel Zoo voucher.
The food was mediocre at best. I spent the night in the bathroom ill.
I love the food here. Wide selection something for everyone
My favorite place in San Francisco. I bring all my out of town guests here to enjoy the view and eat the wonderful bread. The service is always spectacular. Really my favorite place!
Great effort on behalf if service. Food was more or less okay. Much noise.
Kind of a tourist trap, but the food delivers on the promise. Make a reservation if possible because it will be busy. Waiter was some inattentive but always nice and friendly. If going to San Francisco again with other family who had not been there, would consider going again, but would not go again by myself.
We went for the Travelzoo deal and we were totally disappointed. We thought that since we are so close to the pier that the seafood must be fresh. We were totally wrong. The crab in the cioppino was not fresh at all. There were no claims in my claim chowder not to mention that the soup was not even enough for a cup of soup in that bread bowl. I had their claim chowder in their bread bowl downstairs before and they were good but not upstairs. One would think that a restaurant would give you much better quality of food.
We used a Travelzoo certificate for 3 course meals for two and the value was excellent and the food was fantastic!! We got the signature sourdough bread bowl and the cioppino which was amazing. Service was great and very friendly vibe. They serve local wines too. A fun night!
THE BEST sourdough bread ever! Friendly, efficient staff with a view of the bay. Good wine offerings and a variety of food selections. Oh, and did I tell you about the bread? 😁
We plan on going back the day after tomorrow!
Boudin had average service. Service and attention to details were the downfall for the experience.
Service was very poor. Our waiter didn't bring bread to the table until we asked for it halfway through our meal. We ordered soup as an appetizer and our mains came out before any of our appetizers or soups arrived.
Our service was outstanding. The server gave great recommendations.
Very best favorite! This one visit the food presentation suffered, but delicious! Drinks and service was great. Worthy of our 50th anniversary celebration. We try to come at least once a year to enjoy the S.F. experience (although we are native Bay Area, Californians), just too delicious to miss!
Great place, great food!
It was good
We got there early 5:30pm so there was no waiting. The service and food were outstanding as always!!!
Great, the best fish and chip ever
This was the second time I've eaten here and was very excited to revisit. Our experience wasn't great. We were told upon being seated that the kitchen was closing soon, which we understood, but then no one came to take our order for 10 or 15 minutes. I ordered the crab & corn chowder and it was obviously the bottom of the pot. It was thin, tasted too strongly of onion, and had MAYBE 2 bites of crab in it. We were offered dessert and ordered the beignets...only to be told a few minutes later that we could have only the lava cake or creme brûlée. Disappointed in this visit and for the price, don't know if we will give it another chance.
Food was okay - more of a tourist trap then an amazing meal. Turned on every light at 10 pm I guess they were closing. Additionally desert items were not available as they had already shut off the fryer.
I've been in this restaurant for a dinner, I loved the lobster, high recommended
As a San Francisco native this is great place for great chowder. This place attracts many tourists since it is in the heart of tourist attractions, however even if you are a native it's a great place to eat and enjoy the water scenery.
Nice food albeit a bit pricy for what you get. We felt rushed, two courses in and out within a hour at an 8pm sitting which let them down.
"Bistro?" Webster defines a bistro as a small restaurant or bar. Bistro Boudin is anything but small; it is a reasonably large restaurant with a moderately high noise level. If you are looking for a small, intimate, restaurant you should go elsewhere. If you are looking for good food and a menu with plenty of options, Bistro Boudin is well worthy of your consideration. As you would expect, there are many sea food choices, but the menus offered a nice variety of other options, too. I selected the "Fish & Chips." The fish were coated in a delicious batter, fried to perfection, and tender. The "chips" were both tasty and plentiful.
Our server was knowledgeable about the Bistro's offerings as well as being appropriately conversational. The service was adequate but not attentive.
Boudin had it's start as a bakery and there is an active bakery adjacent to the restaurant. Walk through a door and you find your self on an enclosed balcony overlooking the bakery operations. Nice.
The bistro is on the second floor of a building in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. On the first floor you will find a more fast food like cafe and a store that offers Boudin's sourdough baked goods, branded wares, souviners, and more. Another nice feature.
Neither small nor intimate, and certainly moderately expensive, Bistro Boudin is still a good choice.
Great food, friendly staff! Loved the experience of bringing our adult children to San Francisco & one of our favorite restaurants here!
A rare miss with the food - the chicken and chips is usually succulent and tasty, but this time it wasn't. I was seated straight away, despite massive queues thanks to having a reservation, and the service was great. I'll give it another chance as it's the first time in several visits it's been not so great
Average food. Our service was poor ... Had to ask for things rather than waiter asking if we needed anything. Clam chowder was not worth the calories. Roasted crab way heavy on garlic.
Great food and fantastic service. The views looking out over the harbor are breathtaking. We have never had a bad meal here. We highly recommend.
I had booked based on reviews at Open Table. I was surprised to see that it was part of the Boudin chain which I associate with premium fast food. But this restaurant sits on the second floor of the Boudin sourdough building. It is definitely not fast food but a very fine restaurant.
We ordered the crab cakes, grilled scallops and sea food paella. The food was excellent and equivalent to the many fine seafood restaurants in the City. Views and ambience were great.
