Bistro Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The French onion soup tasted like canned soup with a slice of cheese on top of it. The mussels were moderate. The bartender did not know how to serve pastis, a French staple. The pasta tasted like something you would buy at the store and the sauce the same. Service was all together below average.
What a lovely little treat Bistro Bistro was. We went for my boyfriend's birthday and they were wonderfully accommodating. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion. The desserts were excellent. They were thorough from start to finish, treated everyone like they were family.
Was told there was plenty of street parking when arriving - but not true.
Silverware was dirty - tabletop needed wiping (gunk on my side)
Ordered lamb chops medium rare - was served well done. Four meaty chops were nicely seasoned but...well done.
Sea bass was horrid - frozen portion was dipped in beer batter/tempura (seemed not quite either or both?) at the restaurant and deep fried - then sauced!
We ordered from the “Restaurant Week” menu at 5pm - but my fiancée was told Creme Broulee (one of three desserts offered) wasn’t available just before the dessert course was to be served. (So how are they out of a featured menu item at 5pm?)
We both ended our meals with Bistro Bistro “Chocolate Soufflé cake” which, was either a TGIF/Chili’s Molten Lava cake or sourced from a wholesale club (Costco?) drowning in chocolate syrup.
Cappuccinos were very nice.
We chose this restaurant because we could walk from our hotel (Washington Hilton) and because I love merguez. Our starter courses were super good - merguez with tomato sauce and fried egg, and shrimp bisque. So the mediocre main courses were a big disappointment. I ordered salade nicoise and asked for the tuna to be rare - it was medium well. The lettuce was limp and the dressing was only ok. My husband got a pasta with shrimp which was tasteless. We still enjoyed ourselves. I like the menu (classic French bistro food) and would be willing to try other items. Or just have the merguez as a main. It was really good.
We selected this restaurant for lunch because of the mussels appetizer on the menu. A few minutes after we ordered it, we were informed that they had run out of this menu item. We had also ordered the sea bass on the menu. Again, after a few minutes we were informed that they had run out of sea bass. We wound up ordering rib lamb chops, which were very tasty, but not our first choice. The desserts we ordered were also very good. On the whole, though, we were disappointed and will not return or recommend this restaurant to our friends. There were very few other diners in the restaurant; only three other tables were occupied.
Great experience and atmosphere .The Maïtre D was checking on every single table and he made sure we had a great experience. He urged us to rate the place and we felt we had to write about our experience .Our waiter Taha was very accommodating and welcoming .The bartender Mike was so nice to welcome us with a great smile and some great champagne to finish the night with.Bistro Bistro has the best Crème Brûlée .We will come back when we are in DC
We went there for our friend's birthday, and the food was really great. They brought us a piece of cake and a free carafe of mimosas for her birthday. The atmosphere was very French bistro-esque (the wall decor reminded me of some of the restaurants I went to in Paris). Would definitely recommend for a fun, casual brunch. They called us over to make sure they knew what her name was too, which was really thoughtful.
I wanted to get a large group of my friends together for brunch and saw they could accomodate bigger parties. There was a lot of corny french decor, it was kind of unsettling. The food was fine and edible, but not good enough to reflect the prices they carried- really expensive for simple dishes. Overall, I'd say this place is kind of weird and ok dining experience.
We had a very large group go to Bistro Bistro for brunch on New Year’s Day. They had a buffet with so many options, all of which were plentiful. They also had carved beef, made to order omelets, fresh fruit and a variety of pastries. There weren’t many other people in the restaurant, which resulted in attentive service. We were so appreciative that we were able to be accommodated on a holiday and will definitely keep Bistro Bistro in mind for future get togethers!!
The menu was excellent! The food was very good. It took awhile for the one of many waiters to come to take our order. I think one waiter should be assigned to each table instead of all different waiters. Other than the service the overall experience was very good.
For Christmas Day dining, the service was not as friendly as it usually is, and the food was not as well prepared. I had poulet francais, which I've had before in this restaurant and liked very much; but on this day it was not well prepared; in fact, it tasted as though it had been recooked and then reheated. It was tough and tasteless, and I didn't finish it. The restaurant showed courtesy in not charging me. Overall, a disappointing experience. Bistro Bistro is a good restaurant; but somehow it really failed on Christmas.
Great to have a place open till late on Xmas Eve! Started out quiet with more diners in as the night progressed.
Escargot is softer than expected; mussels/clams were good except for the tiny sizes...huge portion for the veal chop nicely done.
Services were good to start with. Got cooler with no standard 'thank you, good bye' ...
What a beautiful night at Bistro bistro .The boss jamil Checked on us on numerous times .He was very courteous and generous .I guess he is the chef .His maître D William was also was very knowledgeable about the menu .He recommended some great wine for the table and we are very grateful for . We had a birthday celebration that the maître D comped her food and provided 2 bottles of Prosecco and her dessert .We did really enjoyed the little time we shared with Bistro staff .We will come back
What a great experience for Christmas Day.We enjoyed the greatest deal of the Four course Menu.William treated our party of 6 with professionalism and positive attitude. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We will come back to Bistro .What a great find and gem
We had a great time at Bistro Bistro. We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance.William made sure we enjoyed our experience. He checked on our party and offered us some champagne and a cake for the birthday lady.We highly recommend bistro bistro to our friends and family
Nice quiet French restaurant. Fantastic service. Nice ambience, not super fancy or chic, but pleasant room. Wasn't too crowded on a Wednesday evening when we were there. Food was good; simple French classics on the menu. I had Duck a l'Orange, which was very nice. My sister had a chicken dish that she loved. The chef (or owner?) stopped by our table several times and seemed genuinely interested in how our meal was. He also gave us an after-dinner aperitif on the house. I would go back. Bill for the three of us (only one or two glasses of wine) with 20% tip was $150.
The Thanksgiving menu and dinner was fabulous! The food was delicious. The 4 courses for the price was very good value. It was quality food. We arrived a little early for our reservation but the manager, William seated us right away. The service was excellent. Will be back for other meals.
I booked a thanksgiving dinner for a group of 22 people at Bistro Bistro. The entire group had a great time and I would definitely recommend the restaurant for large groups. The staff were very attentive and we really appreciated that they split our checks (food and drink) with no issue. It was a four course meal for just about $30 and the food was really nice, perfect for thanksgiving dinner. There was also an option to order of the normal menu which some of the group decided to do. William was a great host and he even gave us four free bottles of champagne and after dinner shots for the occasion. We stayed for over four hours but at no point did we feel like we needed to leave which was different to a lot of other restaurants. I would definitely recommend Bistro Bistro for other groups.
