Bistro Bella Vita Ratings and Reviews
Awesome, tasty, creatively prepared entrees. The kitchen even accommodated a friend in our party who wanted to order a dish not on the menu. Our waitress provided great service, but did not hover. She kindly accommodated our schedule, since we were headed to a concert afterwards. All in all, everything was perfect!
We ate at Bistro Bella Vita for dinner on a Friday. The food was excellent. Our server was nice, but the service was slow. We ordered an appetizer, and he didn’t take our entree order until we’d been done with the appetizer for ~10 min. The tables are pretty packed together, and it was noisy. I’d definitely go back for the food though!
Having dined at the Bistro on numerous occasions over the past several years when in town I have enjoyed many meals there. My main gripe on this occasion in November 2017 is the Northern Road Salmon portion for the listed entree; if it gets any smaller they might as well call it 'small plate'. I was also unpleasantly surprised by the cost of what I thought was the "house Cab" at $17/glass. The server had no apology to offer. Maybe I am being too sensitive but as a 60-something I feel somewhat marginalized due to my age, as this place, at least on this occasion, appeared to cater to the younger crowd. If you are a senior and want a good meal in Grand Rapids, go elsewhere if you want consideration due you.
The food and Cocktails we're exceptional, the beef brisket was the best I've ever had, healthy serving and amazing flavor. Grand Rapids offers an amazing selection of quality food and Cocktails, this was the best of all the meals I've had in GR, and friendly pleasant service.
We had reservations for 4, and at the last minute, another couple wanted to join us. Since the restaurant didn't open until 5, and our reservations were at 5:30, we couldn't call ahead. However, when we all showed up, they accommodated the extra couple with no problem at all, and were extremely pleasant to us. The service was fantastic, the food excellent, the ambience was wonderful. There is a back room with larger table for big parties, but the restaurant itself is a hustling, bustling hotbed of great conversation, aromas, and wonderful food and drink. I'd recommend this place to anyone, it's top notch!
We had 4:30 reservation and were seated right away. Although there was plenty of seating available, they sat us right next to the kitchen. We placed our wine/appetizer order quickly and it was served in a reasonable time. We ordered our entrees, while eating our appetizers. We were attending wicked at the 6:30 showing. At 6:00 we had to ask our waitress for our food. It was finally served at 6:05. We had ordered the 3 course meal and were unable to enjoy the dessert portion due to it not coming out until 6:20. It was wait, wait, wait and the RUSH! Our bill was $167.00, a disappointment for the service, atmosphere and hype.
Bella Vita is our go-to-restaurant for events at Van Andel Arena. Food and drinks this time were disappointing. Cosmo tasted like it was prepared with grapefruit juice. Salmon dinner was served over cold pesto, with cold pickled mushrooms. The carrots(2) were tasty as was the tablespoon of lemon crustada. Fusilli with chicken was soaked with too much pesto sauce and little chicken(actually had to search through dish to find any). We will not be back.
My sister and I came to Grand Rapids to see Wicked. I have eaten at Bistro Bella Vita while on business as well as date night. It is one of my favorite restaurants and always my first pick. My sister, who is the Vice President of her company, had never been. She was very impressed by not only the food, but by the waitstaff. I, of course will be back, but you also made a new (and I’m sure) returning customer.
Absolutely amazing service from friendly and informed staff. Great food offering a mix of fresh and local Italian and French Cuisine.
The only downside was the open Bistro seating which was very loud - I don't even know if music was playing in the background because the surrounding noise was so loud.
Bistro Bella Vita has outstanding food. They really go the extra mile on food preparation. The only problem I've had when I've been in there is that it seems like they are always short staffed.
The waiters and waitresses always seem to be in a hurry to get to their other tables because they are stretched so thin.
Great service but we were seated in an extremely dark side of the restaurant. They could use some better lighting--even the waiter couldn't read the menus. Wish the seafood in the risotto had been added a bit earlier--the mussels and shrimp were still raw. Otherwise, a nice place.
One of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids. Always good service, excellent wine list, wonderful menu for anyone. We dine here at least once a month even though it’s a bit of a drive. Lanell our server, was the best server, personable, considerate.
I ordered the duck ravioli, my friends enjoyed the cassoulet, and Special Duck Breast. We shared goat cheese and focaccia appetizer. Everyone will dine here again.
Eaten here many times over the years but not since 2012. Ate dinner at 5:30 on 10/5/17 after Art Prize. Food quality has slipped. "Heirloom" tomato salad was a plate of frisee greens atop a few chunks of fresh mozzarella and two quartered Campari tomatoes; underwhelming, esp. in the midst of heirloom tomato season. Fisherman's stew was over salted, almost inedible. Rigatoni Bolognese sauce was an odd bittersweet...not like any I've had previously. "Bread pudding" dessert was essentially French Toast; forgettable. Server was initially attentive but forgot one diner's requested lime wedge for his drink, didn't check back once entrees were served. Very loud space in general (hard surfaces everywhere), not easy to have a quiet conversation. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in GR. Will not return until we hear things have improved significantly.
