What Insiders Are Saying
Bistro Barbes is a Park Hill gem, Perfect For a fancy date night or special occasion.
My favorite spot to escape to. The people here are top notch and I’ve never had something that I didn’t enjoy:)
This is a hidden gem. Small intimate dining space. Innovative menu, a unique twist on classic French cooking without the fuss. Desserts were creative, unusual and supremely divine. I would recommend this restaurant for something new and different from the typical Denver dining scene.
A lovely intimate place with exceptional french food!
The food was spectacular, start to finish. The menu changes frequently, but I had the cod and it was inspired, cooked perfectly and served enthusiastically by Jah’Chin (sp?) who clearly knows the menu and is in love with what he’s serving. Great neighborhood place. Would be great for a date night (for someone not broke😉)
a hidden gem. Food and service were both outstanding. Our server was also able to make wonderful suggestions for cocktails and liqueurs.
Food is outstanding-the Moroccan overtones are perfect compliment to French cuisine. Fun, small, chef owned restaurant. Outstanding.
Such a wonderful experience. Delicious food and impeccable service, it's a perfect date night spot. We will be back!
Bistro Barbes is always fantastic! We love their creative, ever-changing menu.
Fantastique! Wonderful and delicious! Thank you for the great service.
Once again, Bistro Barbe was simply amazing!
I'll be back!
Great vegetarian options! Just ask and the chef will prepare apps and entrees to suit.
Bistro Barbes is always a wonderful experience. The food is beyond amazing and the service is spectacular. It was my husbands birthday and they made him feel special. The lobster was buttery and the steak could be cut with a butter knife! Excellent as always.
The overall experience was great. Food was wonderful and the staff was pleasant, however they could have used an additional service member.
Overall wonderful experience for Valentines Day, which happens to be my wife’s birthday. Food and service were excellent, menu was well designed. The only suggestion I have that could have enhanced the experience would have been if they recognized my wife’s birthday perhaps on the dessert. Not that I would want them to sing “Happy Birthday “ but just recognizing it is a special occasion doesn’t cost anything. I did mention on the phone when I confirmed my reservation that it was her birthday and it may have even been on my OT reservation.
Tables were too close together. Slightly high priced
We've eaten here several times and loved the food and service every time.
The food was outstanding, along with the service! Our best meal in Denver!
Fabulous neighborhood gem. Small. quiet setting. Food impeccably done
Excellent food, great service.I would recommend, small (which makes it so much better) so make a reservation.
This Park Hill treasure did not let us down for a rare date night without kids. We had a great time enjoying this intimate restaurant.
This was my second visit and I invited a friend for a celebration. Our favorite of all the wonderful food was the gnocchi appetizer.
Birthday dinner with six friends, all foodies, all very happy with our dinner. Food was delicious and our waiter, Noel, was excellent.
Always great food and great service!
We have been to Bistro Barbes four or five times now, and it has been consistently good. The staff is attentive and the kitchen is outstanding. Moderately expensive but worth it.
I was excited to visit this restaurant after lots of positive reviews. We found that the experience was just "underwhelming". Most of the dishes arrived warm, not hot... and service was uneven for such a small restaurant.
Overall a nice evening. Cute place. The service was excellent. Food was good but I wouldnt say outstanding.
Excellent dinner, excellent service and friendly staff! I crave their food already 😭
We had eaten at Bistro Barbe a couple of time before and liked it both times. We went back for 2018 New Years Eve and the tasting menu that was served was fantastic. One of the top 3 meals we've ever had measured against the hundreds of times we've been out. Will definitely be back again.
My wife and I were there for the prix fixe menu on New Years Eve. Each course was delicious and the presentation was excellent. The service was outstanding! We highly recommend this restaurant.
Imaginative and creative menu from appetizers to desserts with a Mediterranean twist to classic French cuisine. Good wine list.
As always, the food was creative and delicious, just the right amount. The wine was excellent, perfect pairings. The waitstaff, Joshin and Noel, were professional, courteous and open to chatting during quiet moments. We will return!
Summary: truly a unique, hidden gem! Who would have guessed we have a North African inspired modern French restaurant in Park Hill? And it's been here for four years!
Location/Parking: Park Hill, near Elm and 26th Street. Street parking only.
Ambiance: small and narrow; nothing too fancy; elements of North African culture.
Service: top notch! A very high-level that you would expect at the most expensive French restaurants.
Cocktails: we tried a house drink made from spiced cranberry shrub and ginger beer. It contained the spice called fenugreek. It was very exotic. It set the tone for the evening.
Amuse-bouche: complimentary, ever-changing. Ours was tasty.
Appetizers: we selected the beef cheeks. They were extremely rich, but paired nicely with a more sweet and tangy coleslaw mix.
Salads: we split the shaved pear salad as an appetizer as well. It came over a bed of brie cream and figs, topped with a red wine-cacao gastrique.
Entrees: they were out of duck leg, so they informed us they would be substituting it for duck breast. Toni and I still ordered the duck, and it was cooked to perfection! It was set atop of saffron basmati rice, roasted brussel sprouts, and butternut squash chips. Bob ordered the hanger steak. It looked amazing! It was served with raclette over a bed of kale. I tasted some of the steak and it was really delicious.
Desserts: we had been warned that the desserts are fairly small, but we still decided just to split one dessert among the three of us. It was perfect. We ordered the chocolate hazelnut creme brulee. It was definitely a different take on this traditional dessert, as it did not come in a ramiken, but was served over a pool of rosewater-infused white chocolate with supremed orange segments, and petit meringue cookies.
All in all, this was a great experience! I highly recommend checking it out. We visited on the Thursday night before Christmas and it was very slow. Hopefully they get much more business soon!
The food was exceptional and service attentive but not overbearing.
Dissapointing food. Condescending waiter. Medium rare steak was very rare. Medium rare salmon was so rare it could not be enjoyed. Some of the vegetables were tasty and the wine was good, but overall, nothing i would go back for or recommend to anyone. Shame. I was there 2 years ago and really enjoyed my meal.
Amazing meal and fantastic service. We will definitely be back again soon
Amazing service and delicious food in a great little park hill hidden gem! Can't wait to go back!
Good food and service!
Everything about the meal was fabulous. The food was delicious and the service was top notch, just a great evening. We will definitely be back.
Delicious French meal prepared in a visible kitchen. If you see the upside down apple cake on the desert menu, do yourself a favor and get it.
I forget about this little gem in our neighborhood and realized I don't come here enough.
I have always loved their food and menu options. It's a great place for a special occasion, romantic evening or catching up with a friend. It's a win win regardless and I highly recommend!
