Not like the way it was before COVID. Service was slow and of poor quality. Food was good but not as excellent as before. Wine was ok. My glass was obviously poured from the end of a bottle. My glass was filled with sediment and the taste was off.
Not as elegant as an evening/space as we were used to. We haven’t been there in a while due to COVID, but definitely wasn’t the same as before, and not in the good way that we remember. Still pretty good food, but a little disappointed overall.
Enjoyed our return to Barbaret as much as the first time! The food is tasty, the waitstaff are attentive, and the desserts are amazing.
Another wonderful experience for all eight of us. Despite some take-home containers, everyone saved room for dessert!
Always a pleasure!
We all had the bouillabaisse and it was superb!. We were with friends from NYC and they raved about the place so........
We were not quite sure the server could adequately explain certain things we asked about the menu but we just decided to trust we had a great chef and it paid off. I have been to Barberet many times and it never disappoints.
WOW. From the moment I made the reservation to the moment of lovely conversation with staff as I left... It was a wonderful experience! I can't wait to go back next week! Merci!!!
The Bistro was very busy, but The wait staff was up to the challenge!
We had out of town guests and we dined at another fine dining restaurant in Lancaster. Most of the guests preferred Barbaret but both were excellent.
We have five Lancaster older men who plan to dine with you every other Tuesday from time to time.
The bakery is excellent. The restaurant was good. Not outstanding. It was our second time there. Other friends have really enjoyed it so we thought we would try it again. Nothing was bad but definitely not fantastic. Our server was very nice though.
Excellent as always.
Made last minute reservations to sit at the bar with friends. Food and drinks were excellent as was the service from the bartender. Got dessert from the bakery.
We can't decide if the bouillabaisse or the short ribs were better. Seriously, not sure you can go wrong here. French but not stuffy.
Will be back often.
Would love to see an interesting mocktail or two for the no/low alcohol crowd and a some tiny small apps added.
Hit and miss on the dishes. Not great with allergies. Desserts are awesome.
The waiter was not helpful in discussing menu items. This made the experience more difficult. The itself was except but we felt that if the waiter had been more helpful the experience would have much better b
We had a spectacular dinner. The food and drinks were top notch- every bit as delicious as they were beautiful. Service was helpful and friendly despite being very busy. Such a cozy and pleasant environment, with different seating options depending on guests’ level of comfort related to masking/dividers/space between tables. We couldn’t have had a better experience.
Wonderful- great food and atmosphere
We’ll definitely be back
Nice place for a celebration. Beautiful ambiance. Could enjoy conversation without talking over noise. The food and service were exceptional. Leave room for dessert you wouldn’t want to miss it.
Highly recommend going.
Delicious food, great spot to celebrate any occasion.
We were in Lancaster and just went to Bistro Barberet & Bakery on a whim. A very pleasant experience. Everything was wonderful. The food was exceptional from the French onion soup to the beet salad, the pasta special, the tiramisu and the profiterole. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended!!
We brought our granddaughters to our favorite place for a great meal. They were not disappointed.
The appetizers were amazing! How ever, the entrees were not. The potatoes in the lamb dish were very under cooked. My husband dish was luke warm. You could not see the steak dish over the amount of French fries and was hiding it. The server did not make us feel welcome. She barely checked on us because she was busy taking to the bartender. The drink I had was amazing! Very disappointed for the prize. This is our third time there and will definitely not be returning.
We had a very enjoyable time. Food was good, tables were a bit too close together for my liking. Bakery is amazing.
When enter the restaurant you have walked into France. First you must pass the patisserie with all its confectionary artwork-fabulous. The restaurant has a cool vibe, a beautiful bar and a modern/comfy decor. All I can say about the food is in all the times my wife and I have eaten at Barbaret we have never been in any way disappointed in the food and service. There are three staffers who have been Barbaret since it opened. That says a lot.
We had a wonderful return to indoor dining at Barbaret last night. The food was even better than I remembered; highlights included beets and goat cheese brulee, potato and pepper soup, amazing veal/bacon meatballs in sauce soubise, and the floating island in creme anglaise for dessert. Great wines by the glass and fabulous service.
Great mussels and fries, and large specialty hamburger
The food at Barberet is delicious, creative, and well-prepared. It is not cheap, but it is not overpriced for what it is--which is high-quality, expertly made, rather expensive food.
Since co-owner Cedric Barberet is a pastry chef, desserts are important and should be eaten. Always! Always have dessert. This should be a rule.
Service was a high point of our evening.
Loud patrons were a low point. Maybe because it was a Tuesday.
Anyway, it was a lovely night overall, and we'll go back. We live within walking distance, so maybe we'll walk so we can justify dessert... Hmm. Either way, we will go as often as we can. You should, go, too.
We really enjoyed our dinner. The mussels, short ribs and steak frites were all delicious. The flavor of the short ribs was amazing moist and tender. A definite must try if you enjoy short ribs Service was good and dessert was awesome with the house made chocolate sauce on the profiterole.
Excellent as usual!
Bistro Barberet never misses. We had the Quenelle De Brochet as an appetizer. It is something like a soft bread infused with tiny bits of shrimp and gruyére. Heavenly. We both had the 72 hour grilled short rib. Perfect. Even the warm bread (shipped in from Paris we were told) was exceptional. We had a bottle of Cote du Rhone and it was awesome as well. It was our Anniversary and it was just what we needed. Hurrah for Bistro Barberet.
Great food and nice portions. Very attentive, helpful and friendly service.
Food was outstanding. I think it was the best burger I’ve ever had and my husband was quite impressed with the short ribs.
The food is consistently delicious and always elegantly served and presented. The restaurant is perfect for quiet conversations and a date. Bring a wrap, as the air conditioning can feel uncomfortably cold.
The service was slow and the food was good but not great. May get better as everything opens and gets more stable.
We realize the pande,ic has forced many restaurants to cut back on the quality of food as they were no longer getting the crowds. That was not so with Barbaret. When we decided it was time to forget COVID and return to the world, Barbaret was out choice.
Graduation brunch-very unusual that everybody at our table loved their meal. Excellent food and service
Excellent breakfast pastries, dark roast coffee (but really good dark roast!) and chicken sandwiches. Will be back!
When you walk in, the bakery is super impressive. We had lunch in the bistro. Escargot, beef tartare, the house soup, and the croque monsieur. All of it was absolutely delicious. We ended with crème brûlée for dessert! We went back later that night for desserts from the bakery all of which were outstanding. (Lemon tart and chocolate pecan tart were out favorite!)
Very nice lunch menu, excellent and cordial service, super bakery packed with mouth watering French pastries. A bit on the noisy side as the restaurant started to fill. Thanks for following the state and federal Covid guidelines.
