Bistro at the Oaks Ratings and Reviews
We've eaten at the Oaks several times over the past two years since we first learned about it and taken friends there. In the past we thoroughly enjoyed the food. I made the reservation to celebrate my husband's 83rd birthday. What a disappointment. No choices this time, just the set 4-course meal. The best thing we had was the coffee.
The bistro has changed its menu format from previous years, but as always, they never fail to please. Now serving a "tasting menu" of four smaller courses, the food is just the right amount... Filling, without the heaviness. The meal was flavorful from start to finish, and the presentation was detailed and lovely. What a phenomenal place to eat, especially considering that the entire bistro is operated by high school students. Worth a visit...
This was our first time at the Bistro. We had heard wonderful things about it and were not disappointed in our food. Our reservation was at 11:45. Everything went well until we had finished our entree. Our servers had vanished. There were three servers in the dining room and they all seemed to be waiting on other tables. No one checked on us to see if we needed anything. After quite a long wait I finally flagged down a young man man at the register. He removed our plates and someone brought us dessert. She sat the dessert down and walked away without any comment. I had to call them back to ask for coffee for two of our party. No one ever came back to ask if we needed more coffee or anything else. I would have loved a second glass of water,
Always professional and always done in a top notch manner. The students at the school are learning so much about how the world operates by being able to be a part of this element of life. The care and effort put into my meal and experience is always better than I could have hoped to have.
Bistro at the Oaks was a wonderful fine dining experience on a fast-food budget! Everything was excellent and top-notch! Not only does the patrons get to enjoy a wonderful meal, but the students gain experience in all aspects of the restaurant industry. What a great opportunity for everyone involved. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone!
My three friends and I enjoyed the experience of dining at the Bistro. All three began to make plans to bring other friends or family members to lunch. The food was delicious, the service attentive, and the ambience very pleasant. Thank you for providing this wonderful opportunity for the Oakwood-Hall County area.
We have been to the Oaks several times. The latest gourmet lunch was well received. One visit last year recalls a "new" waitress that unfortunately made the afternoon unpleasant by forgetting us, the food, & everything else. Even a smile was disappearing. I commented about the service, she apologized. but it continued. We held back a visit, but decided to return and glad we did! Thank you. It was a very charming & elegant afternoon for my wife and I.
You provide a lovely up-scale dining experience in a small town that fills a void I find here, and for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is inviting and quiet enough to talk. The servers are very professional, and friendly. The food is lovely and beautifully presented. I will definitely be back!!!
We've been there many times now, and all other visits have been outstanding to excellent. This one was the first time I've had anything to complain about. They seem to have been a bit understaffed this time as there was too long a wait between being seated and having anyone come to our table with water and menus, then too long a delay before having our order taken. As usual, the food was excellent by any and every standard -- quality, taste, variety, presentation, etc. Loooking forward to my next visit as I'm sure everything will be up to their usual standards of excellence. It is hard to believe that so many of the tasks are performed by high school students. The faculty does a fantastic job, and these young men and women are great.
Lovely lunch location in Oakwood Georgia run by Hall County School High School students who receive school credit while learning a trade. School Principal Cindy Blakley gave my group a tour of the facility and what this location has to offer to the community. Check it out !!
