Bistro at the Oaks is a contemporary bistro-style restaurant. Every dish on the seasonally influenced menu is prepared fresh on site. The restaurant uses high quality ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible. Each week, a new menu is made up, highlighting the most popular and freshest ingredients available in the region at the time. As the menus change, so do the cultures the food is inspired by, from French to German to American classics and everything in-between. Follow Bistro at the Oaks and take a culinary journey around the world in just a few months.
Bistro at the Oaks is part of the LCCA, where students of the culinary arts and hospitality make up the staff and are able to showcase their skills. The bistro is managed by Chef Chris Mitas, who is also the students' instructor.
Very good food and service, but very loud. We always enjoy the diversity of the menu and the eager-to-please wait staff, plus the chef is willing to accommodate dietary restricitons. We look forward to going back when school starts back!
A unique place where the students make up the menu, cook and serve it. 4 course meal is perfect size for lunch. Been there 4 times always good and different. Love to take out of town guests as special gourmet spot.
food and service is always excellent
Enjoyed the experience and will be back again. It's fun trying a new menu that we would normally never try. Looking forward to bring friends to share this experience. The wait for the different courses is fast service so you can enjoy the new experience.
We've eaten at the Oaks several times over the past two years since we first learned about it and taken friends there. In the past we thoroughly enjoyed the food. I made the reservation to celebrate my husband's 83rd birthday. What a disappointment. No choices this time, just the set 4-course meal. The best thing we had was the coffee.
The bistro has changed its menu format from previous years, but as always, they never fail to please. Now serving a "tasting menu" of four smaller courses, the food is just the right amount... Filling, without the heaviness. The meal was flavorful from start to finish, and the presentation was detailed and lovely. What a phenomenal place to eat, especially considering that the entire bistro is operated by high school students. Worth a visit...
All 4 of the people at our table were impressed by the food and its presentation. We'll be back!
Bistro at the Oaks is a great place to eat. The food is always wonderful.
This was our first time at the Bistro. We had heard wonderful things about it and were not disappointed in our food. Our reservation was at 11:45. Everything went well until we had finished our entree. Our servers had vanished. There were three servers in the dining room and they all seemed to be waiting on other tables. No one checked on us to see if we needed anything. After quite a long wait I finally flagged down a young man man at the register. He removed our plates and someone brought us dessert. She sat the dessert down and walked away without any comment. I had to call them back to ask for coffee for two of our party. No one ever came back to ask if we needed more coffee or anything else. I would have loved a second glass of water,
As always, Chef Dara Lavallee, Chef Hester, and all of the students put on a great spread. Everything was absolutely wonderful!!! A definite hidden gem - too bad they are not open year round - only during the school year!!!
