Bistro At Ten Acres Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Ten Acres, overall it was good but not as good as the first. My main concern is the somewhat limited "pre-winter" menu. My wife had the spaghetti squash and I had the duck, with a cheese plate as an appetizer. The food and service were very good.
There are so many restaurant options in Stowe, we will try others before trying Ten Acres again

We always make it a point to dine here when we go to Stowe. Their margaritas alone are worth the trip! Best in America! The food is wonderful, ambiance terrific. The only thing I cannot understand is why Linda does not get a cappuccino machine! It would be the perfect dinner ender! Other than that the place is perfect!!
We met friends for a casual Friday night dinner and our only complaint was that the steak was very overcooked and completely tasteless. It came with a mound of thin frites but they were also way overcooked and not enjoyable at all. Others in our party had the lobster which they very much enjoyed. Wine suggestion was good and desserts were excellent. Would try again but not the steak or any kind of meat that requires careful temperature control.
We happened upon the Bistro in ou travels in the Stowe area and decided to take a chance on it. What a lovely quaint place it is. It had a lovely bar with extra seating in comfy chairs and couches. We actually went directly to our table but the waiter did not rush us to order dinner. Our dinners were fantastic, starting with Linda’s homemade bread. Delicious! We would definitely give The Bistro thumbs up so if you haven’t tried it and are in the area, give it a try. I recommend making a reservation because it is a very popular place.
We were a party of six and all were pleased with their meals. Everything was delicious and well prepared and presented. Our waiter was excellent. He was very cheerful and attentive without being overbearing. One in our party has a food allergy and the chef was very accommodating.
All in all it was a great experience. We would definitely recommend Ten Acres Bistro.
We had a great evening at Ten Acres. The food and drinks were delicious. My husband and I both had the lobster and it lived up to its reviews. A bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it for a nice evening out! It is the one fine dining restaurant we return to when we are in Stowe.
Food was unremarkable. Since the restaurant was broken up into several rooms, the noise level in any one room was tolerable. Service was slow due to the waitress' (owner's wife?) habit of having long conversations with some of the customers whom she seemed to know. We had a much better meal at the Whip Bar and Grill in the Green Mountain Inn.
We went for our wedding anniversary and the food was good, although my drink, the pomegranate martini, tasted like cough syrup. My biggest issue was the flies buzzing all over the place. At one point I asked the young man bringing us water for a fly swatter. He said there were some up at the house- but that didn't help us! It really put a damper on the evening having to wave our arms over our food every few minutes. At one point we weren't paying attention and 2 flies landed on the blue cheese on the cheese plate - needless to say - we did not finish that.
We didn't get dessert - my arms were tired!
I didn't want to make a fuss and upset my husband, but I wish we had gone somewhere else.
Visited here on vacation. We’re looking for a nice romantic dinner. Although our waiter was nice and the food okay, the ambiance had much to be desired. Our table was sticky, everyone was dressed in jeans, and it was very dark in the area in which we were seated. Not at all what we had anticipated based upon other reviews.
We attended for date and conversation, the crowd and noise level were more than we preferred, however, given the time (Fri eve'g), season (fall foliage), and location (Stowe), not much could be done about either, without spending an exorbitant amount elsewhere. My personal opinion was it was an overall pleasant experience (crowd & noise not withstanding) but others in our party (of 3), ... not so much.
Really wonderful place for a quite meal with friends and family. We arrived a little early and were able to sit and enjoy a drink in front of the log fire. The Pork Shank was the choice of the majority and this was extremely well prepared fall of the bone a truly succulent. I had the portabello mushroom dish with ratatouille ad this was also a very flavor full dish knowing full well that my wife would be sharing part of her pork shank. A very enjoyable meal and I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a quieter place to have an excellent meal and conversation.
Went to the Bistro this past Saturday night while visiting Stowe with a friend. The ambiance is very nice. My duck confit was delicious . My salad was overdressed which is often a complaint of mine but typically at a fine dining restaurant such as this I don't have to ask for dressing on the side as I forgot to. The thing that struck both my friend and I however was how completely uninterested our waiter was. He would just kind of come by and put the food on our table and take of. Again for the caliber of the food and price point of the restaurant a very disinterested waiter. Overall I would still recommend it though and would try it again.
Annual stay in Stowe for 3 couples and we are return patrons who thoroughly enjoyed all the food. We selected a variety of menu items and all were happy with our dishes. The cuisine is creative, featuring seasonal and local vegetables and nice presentation. A fine wine list. We thought our waiter lacked enthusiasm and engagement compared to the delightful service we experienced last year...one reason we wanted to go back. Looking forward to returning again.
Charming restaurant. Excellent service. Limited but satisfying menu. Our party of four enjoyed their sirloin steak with frites, duck, pork shank and seafood risotto. All very tasty. Park shank was huge! Truffle oil frites were outstanding. Homemade bread and fresh greens salad were very tasty. Dessert menu looked sumptuous -- but we were all too full to consider. Next time. Will definitely drive the requisite hour plus to get there from our vacation home.
THE BISTRO AT TEN ACRES IS FABULOUS! My husband and I enjoyed the very best meal we had in VT and there are many great restaurants. We had the best waitress, Linda...she was friendly, fun and so knowledgeable about the food, You would think that she cooked it herself. She knew details that we appreciated to know. She suggested the greatest appetizers, meals and dessert. From our handmade marggherita's to the homemade bread before dinner and all the food and dessert including the coffee was seriously the best. We had dinner on Thursday night which included live music...Awesome! Our very best to the owners who we met and were so personable that they may continue this FABULOUS restaurant and the fine creations of the chef and staff. We couldn't imagine VT without THE BISTRO AT TEN ACRES!
The food was excellent and imaginative and the view was spectacular. As big city residents we were especially delighted by the extreme quiet of the area. We would definitely recommend it to anyone and if we are fortunate enough to return to the area we will definitely return. A real gem.
