My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. I had the halibut special and I have to say it was the best I have ever had! My husband had the skirt stake and he said it was amazing. We will definitely return when we are in Jacksonville again! Service was also extraordinarily!
The food is amazing, kudos to the chefs
Wonderful! One of our favorite Jacksonville restaurants. Bistro Aix never disappoints.
Haven't been to Bistro Aix in awhile...everything was great..!!!
Wonderful place for dinner with friends. Great food and service; we will definitely be back!
This restaurant delivers a nice package beautiful restaurant good food good COVID-19 protocol a little bit pricey but I would return and often do
Friends in town
As always, the food and service was outstanding.
It was loud and noisy. The cocktails were expensive and awful, we couldn't drink them. The escargot was not bad. The steak frites au poivre was overcooked and horribly executed. It was not even the correct sauce and there was no pepper! Haricot verts were unseasoned and had no flavor. Frites were undercooked and soggy with no seasoning. Coq au vin was a complete miss! We decided we better not risk ordering dessert and will not be back!
Both meals were excellent. Wasn't crazy about the table assignment. Overall a very nice evening.
Great food and wonderfully attentive service. Kudos to the restaurant management. They are doing it right here
Bistro Aix is always on point for food and service.
There was nothing not to like about dinner at Bistrp X. We decided to sit and the bar which was an excellent choice. A beautiful setting! The bartender made great suggestions and the food was delicious. The calamari was flavored to perfection, not too salty, which made it an incredible accompaniment to our gin and tonic and old fashion. The pasta dish we shared for dinner was huge and loaded with mushrooms. We enjoyed the banana foster cheese cake fir dessert and departed full and happy. We will return.
The food was excellent, but even more so was the service. From the woman who greeted us at the door to the woman who showed us our table to the exceptional waitress we truly felt “wined and dined”! It was my nephew’s (it was his birthday) first visit, but I can assure you it will not be his last!
Some problems in the restaurant with the staff level. Not enough staff to service the customers. It wasn't very busy, but it took 25 minutes to receive a glass of wine. We received dinner before the wine arrived. The bartender was overwhelmed. Our waiter kept apologizing for the service, which was unfortunate. The waiter was very nice about charging us for different food items to make up for the wait times. Also, the food was very good.
This was our first time here and we were very pleased. The food was delicious starting with the appetizers - try the crispy calamari (sublime) the Charcuterie and crab cakes. For dinner the lamb was incredible, as well as the Steak...you can't go wrong with anything here because the food is delicious. Loved the atmosphere. We'll be going back soon and highly recommend it.
Wonderful food and service with great atmosphere as one would expect in a Parisian street setting.
Best ever experience! Awesome in every way possible.
Delicious food and excellent service. Could be cozier and have better music but overall excellent restaurant.
Arrived 5 minutes before my reservation at 7:45. Was told it would only be 15 minutes or so and we went to the lounge area. When we arrived I. The lounge, it was fairly crowded. Every 15 minutes I went back and asked about being seated a d was told it would only be a few more minutes. After waiting an hour after our confirmed reservation, we left.
I understand that a labor shortage exists. However, the proper thing to do is announce when people arrive that you are short staffed and that it could be an hour or more before seated. Also, should not set reservations for every table as you could keep some tables as walk up only if not sure about staffing .
Poor communication from management.
Disappointed with BA, had not been there for 18 months. I understand the restaurant business has been hit hard but as it gears up to the former routine owners/managers need to match the number of reservations they take to current staffing levels. Because restaurants need to make up for lost revenue from the past 18 months they seem to take more reservations thant they can handle, thus lousy service as we experienced last night.
The food took forever to be served, it was not hot but it was well prepared and very good as in the past. The wait help was obviously overworked and over whelmed. We had dinner at Orsay in Jacksonville two weeks ago, service and food were excellent. However, there were empty tables because they cut off reservations when they reach a threshold which will diminished service. It's very obvious they do this when seeking a reservation. If you don't book Orsay two weeks out, no reservations are available. When you arrive there are empty tables throughout your meal because they can't find enough help so they cut off reservations. BA should do the same, they are compromising their long term business by not leaving empty tables.
It will be a ling time before we return to BA. However, we will return to Orsay.
Just had drinks and a couple of apps.. mussels were great, crab cakes verygood
Wait time was alittle long for entrees. Appetizers were quick but not hot.
6:45 reservation. Ordered at 7:00, food didn’t arrive until 7:45. Believe our server forgot to put it in because at 7:20 he asked if we needed anything else or just the check. Completely forgot we hadn’t eaten yet! A couple came in 15 minutes after us and we’re served and out the door prior to us. Menu is limited. Food average. I’m not very picky but not going back, it was that bad.
As always we had an excellent meal. We had to wait a little long to get drinks as the bar was backed up. We were disappointed that the new management had taken profiteroles off as a dessert offering.
Service was very poor. We had to ask our server for every single thing. Drinks menu, specials, desserts…took forever for us to be greeted, our appetizer came way before our drinks. Our food took a while to come but not to their fault. There was a table of probably 20 that had to be prepared before us. However, my husband ordered his steak medium and it was rare. We were on a time crunch so he just ate it anyway.
One of the best Happy Hours in Jax! The service was excellent as expected.
Lovely little French-style restaurant with good, but not authentic, food. Nice people and nice atmosphere. A little pricey for the quality.
This place has significantly gone down hill. Been a few years since we have visited and will not be making a return trip.
Started with an Old Fashioned that could go down as the worst ever. Muddled fruit and so sweet could not even taste the bourbon. Sent it back. Old Fashioned is an easy drink how you could ruin it this bad.
The charcuterie plate looked as though they had gone to the local grocery store and bought some cheese and meats. No one explained what cheeses were on the plate. Came with rounds of toast that tasted like there were out of the fridge, they were ice cold actually gross.
The calamari was cooked well but the sauce tasted like a bottle of YumYum sauce you buy at the grocery store.
There were four of us and none of us overly enjoyed our main courses. The Prime Rib was to be cooked medium rare and came out medium and was not tender at all. The Cioppino tasted like a bottle of ragu was opened and poured over the fish. Advertised Crab legs on the Cioppino none to be found. The scallops and the short rib were both ok nothing to write home about.
Bistro Aix used to be on the list of places we would visit for special occasions. Has definitely gone down hill. With all the new places in San Marco this one is off the list.
We always have a great experience - food and service is terrific!
With a French Restaurant, one really does not know what to expect, especial on your first visit, however we (2) were
happy with this very popular establishment from the ease of parking and then our server, who was very experienced
and made some good recommendations, unfortunately he had a table of ten that demanded most of his attention a
little later in our dining experience. The very good food demands our soon return!
Nice place. Food was OK. Service was attentive but amateur - waiter didn’t even know basic cocktails or what it meant to decant a wine. This was formerly a very good restaurant but now there are much better places in the area.
Crap wine list, calamari was super small portion, forget to put in my wife’s entree order so I was served and she wasn’t. Gave us someone else’s bill that was nearly twice the price. Complained and they comped the meal but would have rather enjoyed a relaxing dinner with my wife. We’ve been coming here for nearly 20 years but something has changed. We won’t be back.
We were there for 2 hours and never got our entrees. We had a 6:30 reservation and it wasn’t busy when we got there. We ordered within 15-20 minutes of being seated. We got our drinks and appetizer in a timely fashion. There was some mistake in putting our order in that wasn’t caught until over an hour after we ordered. At this point the manager was involved and brought salads. We had to completely order again. The couple next to us who ordered after our second order got their food and still our food didn’t come. When we asked for our bill, we were told that another error was made in expediting our entrees. The manager said he would comp the bill and pack our food to go. 20 minutes later the food never came and we gave up. This was not an isolated incident. The couple next to us sat approximately 20 minutes before they were greeted. When their entrees came out they had no silverware. They also had a long wait time to place the order. The couple 2 tables over got so frustrated with the wait they left. Our experience did not improve when the manager got involved so it can’t be blamed completely on the server.
We arrived for our reservation at about 5:50pm and we ordered about 10 minutes later. We were served our dinner at 7:45pm.
There were a number of excuses about the staff being low and employees walking out and we could tell that the kitchen was barely putting out food at all. We could understand the problems that many restaurants are facing and we sympathize, but at about 7pm we started to see the food flow from the kitchen, but not ours.
We asked and the waiter had to go back and found out that the kitchen thought they had already put out our food, of course the owner who was expediting knew we were sitting without food because he sat us 90 minutes earlier. The waiter was very apologetic, he seemed to genuinely be upset for us. But the owner who finally delivered our food never apologized, until I confronted him about the problem. He did give us 50% off of the bill, but our fathers day dinner was pretty much ruined at this point so frankly I would have rather paid full price for an excellent experience.
When we did get our food, it was fine. It wasn't what we'd wanted because we didn't know that there was a limited father's day menu until we arrived at the restaurant. (Fortunately, our waiter was able to convince the kitchen to make something from the regular menu for my daughter.) The website listed the Father's day specials (most of which weren't on the menu at the restaurant when we arrived). The waiter said the menu was changed the night before.
The entire experience was frankly unacceptable for the owner to treat us like this. When we were leaving several members of the staff came and apologized. The entire thing was strange.
I don't think there's much that would make me go back to the restaurant. It appeared that many of the staff felt the same way. It will be interesting to see if this long standing, respected restaurant can survive it's new owner.
Awful! Hostess so very rude. Finally sat us at the front door where we witnessed her being rude to all. Drinks took almost 25 minutes only one bartender on bustling Saturday night! Food arrived for four but with wrong entrees. 3 were served 1 meal missing. When we asked how long to get 4th entree she said 7 minutes without any concerns for our celebration being ruined and no other suggestions! The entree came 25 minutes later. We asked to see Mgr. Another waiter came to apologize. Finally the owner came and asked why we wanted to speak to him. He said it was tough luck our $39 entree was late and that he would not remove the item. So unpleasant he was! No wonder the bistro has none of the old clientele. We have been customers for 15 years and had felt sorry for the downfall of the place. Now we know why! Do not risk this pricey restaurant especially for a special occasion
Very good food. Great server , Thank you Robert. Kitchen a little slow, but we understand training new staff has its hiccups. Would definitely go back.
Bistro Aix is one of or favorite restaurants. It is pricey but has always lived up to our expectations despite the cost. This occasion was a birthday celebration. We were seated in the bar area because of a very loud party that had taken over the main restaurant area for the evening. Although we generally enjoy the bar area, this time the noise seepage, while livable, was hard to escape. Onto the food and service. We were seated immediately and our assigned waiter introduced himself shortly thereafter. He was obviously new, and a bit nervous but attentive. An appetizer was ordered (the chips with blue cheese are simply outstanding) and then the main order was taken thereafter. I ordered the salmon with quinoa and a side order of Brussels sprouts; my husband ordered the scallops and we ordered the Aixoise salad to share. Strangely, when the salad came, it had pieces of salmon in it. After a reasonable amount of time, the entrees arrived for three of us, but not me. When the waiter was asked what happened to my salmon, he said that he thought I had wanted salmon added to my salad, not as an entree; hence the strange appearance of salmon in the shared salad is now explained. To make a long story short, the waiter hustled to get a salmon entree served to me (the restaurant did make adjustments to the bill), but the Brussels sprouts never arrived. With the exception of the quinoa, the meal, including the scallops, was good but not great, a disappointment. On the other hand, we had brought in a birthday cake and the staff managed this part of the meal well for which we are grateful.
We are glad that Bistro Aix appears to be thriving and we are aware that the shortages in staff is a major problem for all restaurants. However, on this occasion, neither the food nor the meal service lived up to our expectations. Please do better, Bistro Aix
