Bistro Aix Ratings and Reviews
Our evening at Bistro Aix was a special occasion, a birthday celebration. The restaurant staff could not have been more helpful in making the evening a great success for our party of 8. Prior arrangement was made easily for a birthday cake baked on premise and served as a surprise for our son. The dinner service was excellent as well. The food was prepared perfectly from the appetizers to the entrees. Also, I like the alternatives the restaurant offers to order smaller size appetizers, salads, and entrees versus full size. Perhaps more originality in the menu would have resulted in a five-star rating for the food, but, overall, Bistro Aix is a restaurant we will continue to visit.
Fantastic food and service. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 3 desserts (for 3 people) and we all cleaned our plates. The portions were just right and the waiter had some really good recommendations and knowledge of the full menu.
The total will be a little pricey if you go with a full course meal + wine. But it's worth it for a special occasion and the food is well worth the cost. Definitely put this on your list of places to try.
Very disappointed. Service horrible, slow and took too long to get water, drinks, bread, place order and food! Not very busy so unsure why we had such long waits. Waiter would disappear for periods of time then bounce back for a second then disappear again. Never once asked how are meals were. No plans to return any time soon.
Food was awesome, but the service sucked. It was my first time in Jacksonville and my firs time eating at Bistro aix. We had 5:00 reservations and we're the first table to sit, but was not greeted until after two other tables walked in and got there drinks and bread. I don't know if it was because we were two black females or what. But was not good
Seated promptly when we arrived for our reservation - thank you. Homemade blue cheese chips incredible-wonderfully thin and not oily. Salmon appetizer was outstanding. My wife had the tuna entre and loved it. I had the hangar steak and ordered it medium, came out rare. They took it back and it still came back rare. They apologized, sent it back and brought a fresh one cooked perfectly-medium plus. Hangar steaks are a little tough and need to be cooked more to break down fibers. If cut thin, probably not a problem but these were cut in chunks. It tasted wonderful. Dessert was the strawberry crepe(wonderfully light) for me and my wife had a chocolate torte cake that she is still talking about-LOVED it. Service was outstanding and the owner/manager came over, apologized for problem w/ the hangar steak and no charged the entre. Very professional and appreciated. This just became my favorite Jacksonville restaurant. We live 70 miles away but we will be back and they are now our go to restaurant in Jacksonville. We were referred by friends and I can see why this restaurant has been around for 18 years. They get IT-great food, great service and fairly priced. Thanks for a great experience.
7/9/17 - Our Daughter's Birthday... We asked her to pick where she would like to go to dinner and she did not hesitate to say "Bistro Aix, as she had eaten there before and said it was great... This was our, (Mom & Dad), first time and she was right... The food was superb, our waiter gave us great service, and the manager visited our table which was very nice. We had a very special bottle of wine delicious dessert that made our dinner complete and very happy that our Daughter picked "Bistro Aix"... We will definitely be back...
This is the first bad meal I've had after years of being a guest of Bistro Aix. Service was bad/spotty, apps were cold, steaks were over cooked (one was basically ruined, a crime to do that to filet mignon), and I'm pretty sure the salad I received wasn't a caesar. My food, the braised beef shortrib was a bit cold, but was properly seasoned and cooked. The polenta was "just under" cook consistency, and the vegetables were not cooked thru, as their centers were firm/hard (carrots). The other two guests had filet mignon, medium well. One received was overcooked to well-done, and the other was more well done/burned, beef was no longer tender. Also, there was no consistency in their specialty beverage, the french mule arriving quite gingery the first time, but second round was just booze, no flavor. The restaurant did replace this drink and it was almost on par with the first, but not as gingery.
Not sure what was up this evening, but this was the first time at Bistro Aix for one in my party, and I can assure you they won't be returning. Quite a first impression your food/service had on him. As for myself and my partner, I chalk it up to a rough night in service, not enough to get rid of me, I'm afraid. :)
