Waiter spilled on us a couple times. Seemed annoyed with anything we asked for..
Does not accept Amex
We come here regularly and always enjoy it. The ahi tuna tartare special appetizer was delicious. Rest of the meal was very good as always.
Girls night out, very good good, excellent server, we appreciated his recommendations and friendly conversation without being over the top. The atmosphere is neighborhood casual and every one liked their food choices.
Never felt pushed to leave the table which also was appreciated.
Nice waiters especially Alfredo
A lovely gem in our neighborhood. Excellent food and wine enhanced by superior wait staff/management. I always feel special when we’ve dined there. It’s on our regular rotation for our date night dinners.
I found Bistro Aix on a Google search for restaurants close to Fort Mason. WOW! What incredible luck. We just loved this restaurant and although we live on the Peninsula and it's a bit off my usual SF beaten track, we will definitely be back. I just with there was one in Los Altos! The ambience, the food, the wine and the incredible service all made for the perfect end to the day!
A favorite restaurant and still excellent. Can be noisy
A neighborhood must and the "go to" every time I have guests in town. On this occasion, it was my husband and my anniversary. We had a wonderful date night. We have been coming here for more than 20 years and the consistency and quality are amazing. The staff is attentive and excellent and they have amazing retention of staff members. The price point, portions, and amazing number of options make this neighborhood gem stand out.
Excellent meal, bistro Aix is very consistent and has a great wine list. If you like solid French food this is a good place to go.
The bar area has great ambiance.
AIX Bistro always pleases!! Fantastic food & service. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant!!
We had an early reservation and were seated promptly in a bright, light back dining room. Soon a birthday party of kids arrived at the next table. But they were well-behaved and no trouble. Our server was attentive and professional. We had two appetizers, duck confit with beans and eggplant with burrata cheese. They were both tasty and there was enough to share among our party of five. The bread was good too. The main courses were tasty, with good fries, steaks, and pasta dishes. I had squid ink past with clams. The clams were delicious tender little ones, but it would have been a better dish with more of a sauce on it. The food is not fancy gourmet food, but tasty French bistro type-food. It was just what we wanted for our evening. We would go back again.
As always Bistro Aix was wonderful. The food is creative and delicious. We ate in the back room with it’s great olive tree. What fun!
Everything was very good, from service to menu choices, food quality, creativity, taste, presentation, etc etc. The best of all is that you make us feel welcomed. This is our go-to neighborhood spot, especially for out-of-town guests.
We will always come back.
Service was fantastic. Food was amazing. Ambience was incredible! Can't wait to return.
Terrific. For starters, we enjoyed the rolled burrata with eggplant, the yummy flatbread, and the cheese plate, with perfectly sliced and toasted walnut bread and tasty cheeses. Each of our four-person party ordered a different entree; each of us enjoyed our choice. We highly recommend the chocolate cake, which is like a flourless version (though we did not ask if it was entirely flourless), with deep, rich flavor. Bistro Aix consistently provides a delicious meal, a variety of choices, and pleasant atmosphere. You will be glad you dined there.
The food is reliably delicious and creative. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
We had a great server who suggested an excellent bottle of wine that paired well with our delicious meal. We were not rushed and the service was attentive but not interfering. We will be back soon .
Great service, excellent food and atmosphere, great people...loved it!!
Food was great, as usual! And a good value. Still our favorite in this neighborhood. Service was a bit whacked, but it was later on a Saturday night, on St. Paddy’s day at that, so maybe it had just been a long evening for the crew...
I have been going to Bistro Aix for several years. While the food has always been lovely, the service has often been a mixed bag... until today. Today, my wife and I took my father here (he was visiting from out of town). While our own server was lovely, the restaurant got busy and we found it difficult to get her attention for some additional needs. We finally managed to flag down a different server, but she was actively rude to us. She repeatedly informed us in a rude tone that she was "not our waitress" and expressed clear annoyance that she was burdened with having to help us. That was bad enough, but when we pointed this out to our server, there was no response by the restaurant. No one came to our table to apologize. Nothing. Save yourself the frustration. If you want a nice evening, do not dine here. The food may be good, but it does not make up for the pattern of bad service. Clearly, management at this restaurant does not make customer service a priority.
I've been coming to Bistro Aix for years and I have never had a bad meal. The food delivers as does the service. Special shoutout to Alfred who has waited on me and whoever I was with several times lately. He is always professional, friendly and attentive.
Great neighborhood place!
This was our second time to Bistro Aix and it did not disappoint. It hits all the right notes in terms of atmosphere and service. The food is creative and super tasty but not too expensive. And the wait staff is excellent - they don't hover, but they always appear when needed. Excellent for couples as well as a special get-together with friends. You won't be sorry!
We went to Bistro Aix for my birthday last week. I have an overwhelming amount of great things to say about this restaurant as I have been a couple of times before and had a great experience both times before. The food is delicious! I got the halibut and others in the group got the pork chop, chicken breast and another halibut. The food was fabulous! We split two salads and got the broccolini as an appetizer. Looking forward to our next meal there!
Amazing food!! Very nice back room with a lighted tree in the middle giving the room a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. It is also quieter back there and we prefer it that way. When we left, the front was full and people appeared to be a bit crammed in - it was also pretty noisy. Yet another reason for choosing the back room. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.
You can't go wrong - this place hits all the right notes. As near perfection as it gets.
I stay a few days in San Francisco frequently on business. The city is increasingly expensive and impersonal. As a visitor, it is hard to find any sense of community and local culture. Cow Hollow in the Marina District is an exception. There you can find small hotels with free parking, small businesses that remember your name, and a few restaurants with dependably good food and personable staff who care about what they serve. More importantly, very few restaurants seem to care about their staff, so seeing the same greeting and wait staff for 3 years and running suggests that his place is an exception. Based on these criteria, Bistro Aix is at the top of my list. Alone or with friends, they deliver an excellent dining experience.
Hard to imagine a nicer dinner experience. Excellent server, very very good food. Comfortable and pleasing atmosphere. We will return for sure.
Consistently good food and service. And they have a good, interesting and reasonably priced wine list!
We came here for Valentines Day dinner and it didn't disappoint. We got seated immediately and the service was great. The server was knowledgeable on the menu and wine list. He even provided a wine taste before we ordered. The place was pretty crowded but the noise level was not too bad. The waygu steak and charred pork chop were outstanding and the portions were pretty hearty. Prices were moderate and overall the bill was reasonable for what we got. This was one of the better meals that I've had lately.
I’ve been to Bistro close to a dozen times. It’s my go to for an impressive night out specifically in the front room. I did request the corner front table next to the window, but the person who seated us was preparing to take us somewhere else. Even though the table I requested was open. Not sure why. Did he not read my reservation request or not care?
The host felt a little rushed with us, although she was polite.
Food was as usual delicious. We had the mushroom risotto and the ahi.
Still on my list but moving down a slight notch.
I've been here a handful of times, on dates, with family, with kids, with friends. Every time it's been top-notch. And the tarte tatin RULES. :)
Probably my favorite restaurant in the City. Consistently good and solid staff.
Great service... our waiter put up with a lot of distracted people who were in midst of decompressing from 2-day off-site. The crab with chanterelle and angel hair was super tasty, as was the tarte tatin.
We love Bistro Aix. Took out of town guests for this dinner and they really praised thei meal. The food was delicious and it has a cozy ambiance for a cold night. The menu is creative and offers something for everyone. Keep up the great work!
A regular dinner spot when I'm in San Francisco, Bistro Aix is a dependable place for good food, good service, and neighborhood ambiance. The fare changes with the seasons, but they don't make a big deal claiming locavore cred. The seafood is much better than average for SF (already good), the meat is from local sources, and the salads are awesome. I'm still trying to figure out how they do this with just 75 seats and a bar.
Great meal! Really interesting wine list. Wonderful service.
Very good diner
Fabulous food and service, lovely space. Consistently one of the best restaurants in SF, quietly under the radar.
