Bistro Aix - SF Ratings and Reviews
A regular dinner spot when I'm in San Francisco, Bistro Aix is a dependable place for good food, good service, and neighborhood ambiance. The fare changes with the seasons, but they don't make a big deal claiming locavore cred. The seafood is much better than average for SF (already good), the meat is from local sources, and the salads are awesome. I'm still trying to figure out how they do this with just 75 seats and a bar.
Excellent dinner! Staff is very attentive. Each course was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation and quite satisfying. As a whole the dinner flowed with nice pace and each part complemented the others.
I highly recommend Bistro Aix for both casual and special occasions.
Great food with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
We came to Bistro Aix for a holiday dinner with coworkers. They sat us out in the back covered patio area which was perfect because we had plenty of space for a party of 12 and it was quieter-so a great place for conversation. They have made the patio very comfortable and warm. Food was excellent, extensive wine list and service attentive but not overbearing. Would recommend to anyone!
Not sure about noise level as we were there mid week and late. Really good French food. Perfect halibut and steak. Frites were like in France. Really nice sauces. Service was attentive without being too much. Prices were very reasonable. It felt like a little neighborhood restaurant.
We very much enjoyed it.
This is our favorite go-to neighborhood restaurant for genuinely good French and Italian Food. The changing menu is appealing and appetizing. The cooking is very good, creative and always dependable.
We have introduced this restaurant to many friends and family members.
If at all possible ... they just keep getting better.
Service be is always spot on. Wine selection has something exquisite for everyone. And on this most recent visit we had the Chicken meatballs appetizer. Unanimous outburst of "these may be the BEST meatballs I have ever had!"
Way to go! Have been going for years and have NEVER been less than VERY happy to have chosen Bistro Aix!!!
An incredible let down. From a Michelin Bib Gourmand and well reviewed on Zagat, we expected more. Food was well presented but had no flavor. No seasoning, no spice.
Service seemed focused on Regulars and not us as newcomers. Fantastic service could not have made up for the flavorless food.
I cannot imagine dining here again.
Friends were visiting from Montreal - a good restaurant city. The seating was quick and comfortable. The ambiance lent itself to chatting without losing our voices. Our waiter was a very long time employee - we have been customers for 15+ years. Bistro Aix just gets better every year. He advised on the wine and th specials - terrific. The restaurant has an extensive Mediterranean wine selection. Our friends thought the whole experience, especially the food, was excellent. It is the best restaurant in our neighborhood and we have quite a few good ones.
Great cozy Bistro! We were in town visiting SF and our friends HIGHLY recommended we try Bistro Aix. I'm so glad we did! We sat inside by the bar, great atmosphere and the noise level was perfect. The food was SO fresh and delicious! We will definitely go back next time we're in town.
Sat in the back room which was larger and not as loud. The service was good and the appetizers and main course were fine. I ordered the steak and frites, which had good meat but I should have tried to substitute the frites with some veggy.
Deserts were tasty.
Hadn't been to this bistro for many years, so a lot of physical changes. The food was good, but not noteworthy. Had the steak special and the scallop dish with risotto. No complaints, but no wows, either. The restaurant looked good and the service was very good. There is some outdoor seating, but it is limited. The bar looked lively.
I'm stuck in San Francisco for work about 6 nights per month, so Bistro Aix is one of my 'regulars'. SF offers many great choices for expensive food, but few that combine excellent food with a welcoming, local ambiance. This small bisto does just that. It is a little bit of Lyon-flavored south-of-Paris in the SF Marina district.
I don't know how I haven't eaten here before; my friend and I absolutely loved our meal and experience! Our waiter was the best--he was laid back, friendly, made great suggestions for both wine and food, and he didn't bother us every moment so we could engage in conversation. The wine he suggested was the best Rose I've ever had (a French Rose) and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend!
