We have been to the Bistro several times for drinks and appetizers. The appetizers are always exceptional. We cannot say the same thing for the entrees. Each of the three times we were there for the entrees, they were average at best. Elk chops basically burnt on the outside and a cut that looked very strange. Risotto not fully cooked and creamy, vegetables overdone, etc. We will come for appetizers only.
Amazing food , service and friendly surroundings . Totally recommend anyone bistro 7 . Well worth it
Enjoyed a wonderful Valentines Day meal. Everything was simply outstanding.
Came for Valentine’s dinner. The restaurant looks nice, was warm and cozy and our drinks were good. Waiters and waitresses were all nice and somewhat accommodating, just a shame that the food was really poor. Did not have many options to pick because it was a prefixed menu that evening. I spent over $240 on a salad and a couple of bites of a chocolate cake dessert that my partner and I shared because everything else was just bad. While there are many words, I could use to describe Bistro 7, I’m going to say only this: Bistro 7 is a bad restaurant.
It was a fantastic Valentine’s Day special dinner. Great ambiance, excellent food, and the staff made it a special night for my wife and I. We were served like we were the only table that night.
Valentines dinner. Fixed price menu. The restaurant is very nice and the food was good but not outstanding. I had the Elk chops which were cooked on the very rare side of the requested medium rare. My wife had the surf and turf, both the steak and the shrimp were perfect. Both plates came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, the sides were served cool to cold. The amuse bouche, appetizer and salad were delicious. The dessert dishes were also very good. The meal was good but certainly not exceptional. Considering for two people with an average priced bottle of wine the final cost for the evening was north of $250; I left the restaurant generally happy with the experience but certainly felt the meal was overpriced.
Birthday good lunch
Wonderful place to eat! Great cocktails and the most helpful host staff around.
Fun wines on sale. Remarkable deals if you look. Great Elk chops.
Bistro 7 is one of the best lunch and dinner joints in Reno. Don’t be mistaken by its strip mall location. The decor is modern and pleasant, the original menu (I had pheasant and vegetable soup) and the excellent service far exceed expectations.
We're locals and have always enjoyed Bistro 7 . . . . but
Service, food and ambiance are spot-on! However, $175 for 2 including gratuity made it less than perfect. We have several similar local venues where a similar dinner would have been at least $50 less.
Our take-away is to pass it in the future on that alone.
It was 71st birthday and I was treated like the Queen that I am! !!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LIVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! GREAT FOOD AND GREAT DRINKS!!!!
Steak Frites with side of seared scallops was awesome. Second dish was their famous crusted sea bass=excellent as always. The only disappointment was the special salad had vanilla vinegar that burned my throat...the salad itself was great. Service, ambiance excellent and low noise level :)
It was a good solid choice for our recent trip to Reno. We always try to find places out of the casinos to eat. The food was good, not amazing. The service was good, not amazing and we felt slightly rushed at 8:45 on a Thursday. It was pretty quiet and not too busy so we get it but feeling rushed is a little annoying. Didn't love the atmosphere and the space felt overly large. We will definitely try it again and would recommend others to give it a try.
Andrea, our waitress was outstanding. The food was outstanding, we'll be back.
We had a great time at Bistro 7. Foods was very good and staff was friendly.
Meet friends for lunch Cocktails were perfect and so was the service.
Wife and I had lunch and were the first seated. Later in the hour many more arrived and the restaurant was fairly busy. Food and service were both great. An extensive menu kept me debating for 15 minutes as to what to have. The decor is contemporary and very attractive. There are booths and tables as well as a very upscale bar area.
We will definitely return in the near future.
Bistro 7 is a nice mid-range dining experience. It provides good value and has an excellent wine selection and vibe to it. The noise level is a little higher than what may otherwise be thought of as a "Fine dining" experience, but it has the word "Bistro" in the name.
On the day we went, there was a Christmas Party of some sort taking place in the outdoor space. Unfortunately, this lead to a lot of cold air to come into the restaurant, and being seated near the door was not helpful. The door was eventually closed so that was handled.
The server did not seem to have extensive menu knowledge on our questions. I do not believe our questions were especially unusual:
"How is X marinated? What kind of seasoning is in it?"
"Are seafood and french fries sharing the same fryer?"
The answers were hesitant, vague, or otherwise unknown. Nothing significantly terrible, but notable.
As it later turned out, someone's order had to be altered due to the seafood and french fries sharing the same fryer. This happened after appetizers had already been served and cleared. So, I believe the question was not even considered until it came time prepare the actual entree. My dining companion then had to choose another option on short-notice. A replacement was provided and apparently, it was replacing all the sides. A side of mushrooms (to replace the french fries) apparently replaced french fries and the original vegetable side. This consequence was not communicated at all.
Aside from this mis-step, we all had a great time and I would not say our time was ruined by any stretch. Now that we are armed with more knowledge, we can probably aim for a smoother experience next time.
Consistently good food and service. Chef brought over a special appetizer for us to try at no charge. It stands out among the many great restaurant choices in Reno.
Great service! Great food! The menu has something for everyone.
Nice friendly service!
Excellent experience in all respects. Attentive but not overbearing service, terrific food and great value made it a special night out. We’ll be back!
Food was really good, service was excellent , definitely recommend
Great lunch menu. The caesar salad with the chicken was amazing. Great price, ambiance and service. It took no time at all for the food to arrive after we ordered even though the restaurant was fairly busy.
The food was very good as usual but our server was not. This is the first time the service was not good.
Very nice ambiance, great and attentive service, and consistently good food.
One of our favorite Neighborhood places.
The food is so well prepared and delicious! The restaurant interior could use a re-do but it's very comfortable and not pretentious as it is. The staff is very friendly and the service efficient! It's certainly worth the trip for us.
Couldn't have asked for a better meal, great service & just all around nice evening! Worth going again!
Great service and food. Sarah provided fantastic service. Do get a reservation.
Not sure. Service was good, ambiance fairly nice. Portions were large. Specials we ordered were fair - the scallop dish that 2 of us ordered was spicy and heavy, didn't seem to go with scallops, but tasty enough. The pork dish was good, but nothing special. One person in our party of 4 had the chicken bruchetta, which he said was very good. Ceasar and spinach salads were good, but nothing special. Regular menu entrees limited. Specials helped. We thought it was a little pricey for a 3 plus experience.
Service was great Sara is a great waitress and a good experience
We had a really nice time.
Booked a lunch for 6, girlfriend birthday lunch.
Everyone loved their meal. Will definitely return.
Wonderfully creative, tasteful and tasty appetizers
Our evening was Delightful. The food was Awesome. No one had a below exceptional meal. I, always love the Scallops, but had to try the Sea Bass with Forbidden Black Rice...the most amazing fish, I’ve ever had.
We always sneak in for a late afternoon Calamari appetizer and glass of Rombauer.
Now, I can’t wait to go back for Sea Bass!
Best restaurant in the area! Love it!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Would highly recommend the "Angry Crab" dish. We loved an unusual method of preparing Crab. Service was very good, wine prices reasonable. Noisy, but fun.
We were in town at the end of a week-long vacation in Lake Tahoe. This was without a doubt the best meal we had all week! We will return next time we come through town.
