I ordered the Pasta Chitara dish. The flavors were wonderful but the dish was lukewarm at best. I should have sent it back to be reheated. The calamari appetizer was nothing to write home about. The Rose wine was awful. Should have sent it back. Would recommend to friends only with caveats.
Everything from appetizers to dessert was delicious. We especially liked the polenta, giant beans with mushrooms, gnocchi with mushrooms, and the “gin thyme” cocktail. We have been here a few times and this was the best yet.
Brilliant experience as always!
Always a fantastic meal. I need to go there more often!❤️
We ate outside. The chairs and table were very comfortable. We felt separate from the street but still hearing the train and buses. They change the menu with enough frequency that justifies our regular visits. Always something new and exciting. Talented bartender with great cocktails and well chosen wines.
It is a very nice restaurant for dinner - friendly courteous staff, limited but good menu choices, Waiter was very accommodating, never felt rushed, Waiter responded quickly to request. There is very limited parking particularly since several convenient spaces are now taken up with outside dining and curb side pick up. I think this is a real neighborhood gem.
We sat outside, and the patio was nice loud due to the street, but expected! The food was well seasoned. My steak was way over cooked, but every body else’s meal was fantastic. We will definitely return again.
Best bolognese ever … and we have tried many. The gnocchi was outstanding as well. Service is always so friendly and professional. Highly recommend.
Had a great romantic meal here on Saturday night! Both the appetizers and meals were expertly prepared, and the portion sizes were perfect! Drink selection and the quality of the mixed drinks were fantastic as well. Our waitress was top notch: knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and friendly. We will definitely return to Bistro 5 the next time we're in the area!
We felt very rushed by the server. Portions were small for the price charged.
Attentive wait staff, wonderful food. Never had a bad meal or experience at Bistro 5
Superb as always. The occasional tasting menus offered are a not to be missed opportunity!
Outdoor seating available and it was full. Service was spotty due to hiring issues no doubt but servers did their best. I ordered tasting menu. One of the best soups I’ve ever tasted. It’s in a small square and we ate around commute time so if buses and trains are not your thing I’d recommend you dine indoors, which is lovely by the way. Cocktails are yummy! Highly recommend. I will be returning.
Bistro-5 never fails! Food and service was excellent. We had a delicious tasting menu of all local foods, including perfectly done venison. Really enjoyable. Vittorio the owner and head chef visited our table which made for an even better experience.
We were seated promptly as per our reservation. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our wants and needs. Service was very professional and not obtrusive. The appetizer courses were a little light on quantity but well prepared and excellent. The Faroe Island salmon was perfectly prepared with an excellent presentation. The veal milanese was excellent in presentation and preparation. Also, the tagliatelle was delicious. The wine and cocktails were excellent. We will definitely return
We took my daughter and a few of her friends to dinner last night, we had an unexpected addition to our party and the restaurant was ver accommodating, our waiter was awesome, he was very attentive to the whole table. Everyone enjoyed their meal and dessert. Wonderful evening!
We had a birthday celebration for a friend from California. Bistro 5 was his favorite when he lived in Boston. The meal we had on Friday did not disappoint. Really creative and interesting presentation and pairings even of standard menu items. We love this place.
We had a great dinner. We chose outside seating so it was fun to watch people walk by and get on and off the commuter train.
My wife is still raving about the calamari and french fries. The cocktails were excellent too!
The food was delicious. Arguably among the best salmon and veal dishes we've ever had. The waiter was gracious and attentive despite being a crowded evening. The decor made a Medford sidewalj ferl like a lush, green park.
The only drawback was the commuter rail which runs mere yards away. So, maybe next time we won't dine at rush hour. But as long as you're prepared to pause your conversation occasionally, it's fine.
So glad this place is thriving despite the pandemic!
Always lovely to dine here
The tuscan kale with peaches and ancient grains🔥🔥🔥 followed by veal milenase wirh figs.. absolutely gorgeous and so delicious!!! What a lovely evening here. Lovely staff, host and waitress .. Looking forward to returning.
It was amazing! Food was delicious and service was fabulous!
My friends and I received friendly, attentive service. We were all happy with our food. The ambiance felt welcoming & cozy.
Nice people, pretty place, very disappointing food. Beet salad never even came. Ordered the veal and the pasta/meat sauce. Pasta was ok, but underspiced. Veal was nearly inedible, like a frozen dinner. We were sorry to see this.
Despite being clearly understaffed on a busy Saturday night, the servers worked together to take care of guests and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was, as always, fantastic. We love this place!!
Healthy food in a convenient suburban setting. Main dining room off bar has more active vibe and preferred ambience for us. Those looking for quiet setting (still with view of kitchen) should request the dining room to left of entrance.
Food was great . Service was lacking
Delicious and fun! We were outdoors, which was noisy but we didn’t really care.
We had a wonderful evening, the food was fantastic, sitting outside was a treat (train noise notwithstanding). We come to Bistro 5 for special events and are never disappointed. Whatever is served, there is a perfect balance of flavors, attention to the smallest details, interesting takes on classic dishes. Highly recommended.
I have so missed this place!! I’m from CT love visiting for the fresh pasta and great atmosphere.
We ate outside but the inside has great ambience— small and chic without feeling stuffy. The food and wine were outstanding!!! And the server was personable efficient and professional. This place is fit for foodies.
We were a little disappointed with this restaurant. We booked an outside table and when we arrived there were none available. Luckily we could sit by a window inside next to the bar so it was fine. The appetizers were good - we got the polenta and the beet salad - I'd say the beet salad was a little small for the price. My husband ordered the steak medium rare. It came well done. We had to send it back and he ordered it rare this time to be safe because it was a pretty small steak. But I heard the waitress tell the chef "medium rare" so I had to correct her. When the new meal came it was very good, but I'd say still pretty small for the price. My sister and I ate here also one time earlier and the waiter, while very nice and friendly, could not answer any of our questions about the menu. It is not a big place and he was working again, so I assume he's there often. Luckily the bartender overheard and was able to answer our questions. That time I ordered the veal and it was a big portion, but I was not impressed with the presentation. It was basically just breaded and fried. It could've been chicken for all I know and the description made it sound much more interesting that it was. All in all, the prices are too high for this establishment; they're trying, but they need to try a little harder in my opinion.
Food was amazing! Small plates and combinations of apps made a great vegetarian meal for me and my husband LOVED his steak!
They created a great outdoor eating space on the sidewalk. Its a great view outside a victorian building with fascinating detail!
Food was excellent and service was even better. Parking wasn’t too hard to find either. Would definitely go back.
Went for DineOut Boston. Food was delicious. Good portions and just the right timing. Wine pairing was a nice touch that other restaurants don't always have.
The service is great. I was a bit surprised by the short list of entrees -5 choices plus 3 fresh pasta dish. But I was not disappointed by the tarragon Chicken. A sophisticated blend of herbs and veggies with grilled chicken. Very good. My friends got vegetarian burger, and a regular burger. They enjoyed their meals as well.
I will surely go back.
We went there because they were participating in the Dine Out Boston program. The food was delicious and the service was fine. My only complaint was the noise level.
Not very big portions at all, good quality food though, We asked for more bread thought he was bothered by it.
Service was not good. He mixed up the dessert and the cocktail was not what he said and was. He never checked to make sure everything was to our liking.
It was our first time there and loved every thing about it. Great find ! We will be back soon!!!
