Bistro 44 Ratings and Reviews
The food & service was great. My husband & I shared the roasted squash & pear salad which was split in the kitchen. I had the braised short rib with mashed potatoes and he had the osso bucco over vegetable risotto. We then shared a light fluffy apple tart. Both meat dishes were not fatty at all and were so good. The restaurant is small and the noise level is high. In the warmer month there is dining on the back porch as well. It was a bit chilly this night so we ate indoors.
Wonderful waiter, Anthony, delicious food and very generous portions considering we were ordering from a price fixed menu. Also, a nice touch including the coffee or tea with dessert. Most places, on a price fixed menu, make the dessert a solo act and then you must pay more if you want a beverage with it. Bravo Bistro 44! We had a wonderful experience and will be returning with more friends.
This is a very cozy and comfortable neighborhood gem with old Northport ambiance and style that fits right into the community. Food and service are very good, with many menu choices and a tempting pre-fix menu before 6. If I were in Northport more often, I would be a regular.
We were happily seated outside, as it was a beautiful night. We waited, and waited, and waited for someone to tend to us. Finally I asked a passing waiter, he apologized, and explained that there was a table he was trying to get out as they were going to the theatre. OK, no problem. That table left, and we still waited. Waited. He seemed overwhelmed. We asked if we could just get something to drink while we waited, and finally were able to do that. When he brought our drinks, we ordered our food, as we weren't sure when we'd get the opportunity again. Our salads came out quickly, but after that.....waited, and waited again. Finally our entrees came out, and they were delicious! The food is always terrific here, but seems they either need more staff, or more trained staff. Other than the service, we really enjoyed the food and the outdoor patio.
We always have Sunday brunch at Bistro 44 when we go to the theater in Northport. The bunch menu and drinks are wonderful. Great omelets, french toast made from challah, eggs benedict. The basket of fresh muffins with preserves is to die for. And always great fresh coffee. Also very nice to sit outside, weather permitting. Just a consistently good place.
Been here a few times. Food is excellent. Service was ok now it's just awful. Our waiter was on another planet. He was so bad or poorly inexperienced it was almost embarrassing. We waited for everything, 10 min to get drinks, 10 more to order, 25 for apps. Another server noticed how bad he was doing that she jumped in to help while very busy. It's a shame, hopefully they don't loose customers like me because of their bad service.
Northport is always such a beautiful place to visit. And there are a couple of different places around this area to eat. I always have found BISTRO 44 as a great place to go! It has an outdoor patio out back and it's just lovely sitting out there. It was a pretty warm day, but, was still great to sit outside.
My wife and I had the pleasure of having an outstanding dinner at Bistro 44, served to us by our server Andy. We were there on Friday evening July 21st. Courteous, polite staff greet, seat and feed you. The food was without doubt a five out of five. My wife had seafood and I had beef. Delicious!!! I highly recommend Bistro 44.
Bistro 44 has consistently been one of the best restaurants we have been to. We generally go there after we attend a play at the John Engeman Theater located up the block from the restaurant. Their food is very well prepared and extremely delicious. We will be back shortly. Kudos to the chef at Bistro 44!!!!!!
Bistro 44 in the center of Northport village is wonderful. Food great and our waitress Gina could not have been better. I never rememver servers name but I did hers!! The only complaint was that it was loud and hard to hear our friends across the table. We managed fine but was a little disconcerting. All in all, really good!!
Waiter and bus persons tried very hard but definitely need more training.
Had the prize fixe - flank steak and mashed potatoes were OK but green beans were tasteless and undercooked.
We ate in the patio. More outdoor fans are needed. Towards the end of dinner a noxious smell enveloped out table for about 3 mins. A disgusting end to a mediocre meal.
We all agreed we should have eaten inside.
