About Bistro 29
Bistro 29 located in downtown Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. Bistro 29 is a traditional bistro specializing in “Breton” regional cuisine. The number 29 comes from the department of Finistère (end of the earth) located in the upper tip of north-west France. Known for the Galette de blé noir (traditional buckwheat crêpe) and sweet crêpes, Bretagne also uses a variety of local seafood and produce that can easily be found in and around northern California.

Bistro 29 Ratings and Reviews
Everything is quite good about this restaurant except the size of the pour
for a glass of wine. They think five ounces for $12 is appropriate. I think that is too
small. It annoys me. I'll still go back as the food is very good and nicely presented.
Also the service is fine. I have been there a dozen times.
After a harrowing week of fires In Santa Rosa, my friend and I visited Bistro 29 with the hopes of having a decent meal. The meal at Bistro 29 did not disappoint. The Norvegienne and Clairette Crepes were delicious, the endive and goat cheese salad refreshing, and the honey glazed beignets and selection of ice cream and biscotti were out of this world! A Russian River Pinot Noir was a great pair to the meal as well.
UNFORTUNATELY, the service was greatly lacking.
This was our second meal at Bistro 29 this month, the first being a lunch for four a couple of weeks ago. The food, service, and French ambience was everything we could have asked for. We expect to return with friends very soon. The location in downtown Santa Rosa is excellent and parking could not be easier. As the town center continues to become more attractive and the redesigned square grows into itself, we look for the lunches to become almost as popular as the dinners. The old saw about "no ones goes downtown" in Santa Rosa is becoming ridiculous as so many locals seem to know one another here and the convivial atmosphere makes dining locally even more enjoyable.
I had and early lunch here with 2 friends. Love the variety of the menu and look forward to trying many different selections in the future. We ordered buckwheat crêpes: two of us shared the sausage, apple & gruyere crêpe with salad; one opted for the sweeter goat cheese & fig compote with a side of creamy mushroom soup. Everything was delicious, and do save room for dessert! We shared a plate of three beignets and they were yummy.
This was my third time, and not the best but I will return! I love many of the food selections and it has a good wine list. I would pay a King’s ransome if they added acoustic tiles or somehow mitigated the high level of noise when it is full. It is a fun little restaurant that always makes me feel good. Oh, and I love France!
We have visited Bistro 29 on several occasions. Each time has been as good or better than the last. The food is absolutely wonderful.. I had the Daube of Beef - melted in my mouth with superb wine flavors. There wine list is reasonably priced and focuses on French wines. The staff os loaded with personality and very engaging as well as efficient. We dine here whenever in the area.
Truly a local treasure!! Took friends out for a birthday dinner and all had different savory buckwheat crepes and sides of asparagus or green beans, and accompanied by a nice bottle of wine. For dessert, the beignets were absolutely fantastic!!
Service, food, ambiance - all were spot on and a great value too.
The service is wonderful...they go out of their way to please and accommodate requests.
I just wanted salmon and haricots vert for lunch ..it wasn't on the menu but the chef/owner prepared it for me and the charge was the same as if I had ordered a Salad Nicoise.
We enjoy the food and the ambience here.
I have always enjoyed Bistro 29 for dinner, and I am so delighted they are now open for lunch. I had the Crepe Forestiere with duck confit. It was absolutely delicious and the portion was so generous. Service was superb. It is a lovely spot with great food and very reasonably priced for the quality.
The food at Bistro 29 is phenomenal. The regional Breton cursine is fresh, creative and authentic. The wait staff are so friendly and are helpful in the extreme when asked. The ambiance is quiet and cozy. Perfect for a romatic dinner. I whole heartedly endorse this place for regional, not your run-of-the-mill cusine.
My first time at Bistro 29. I dined with three friends - one of which recommended it primarily for the chocolate cake. Since I'm gluten-free this was truly a treasure! Three of us had the crepes (gluten-free) which were all excellent. My other friend had the beef salad which she loved. We shared the flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was one of the best I've ever had (and I've had alot :). The ambiance was very nice but I think the best part of the meal was our server - Vannessa. She was friendly, sweet, helpful and really knew the menu so she could answer all of our questions. Vannessa was the best. I can't wait to bring dates, friends, family - basically everyone I know - to Bistro 29. It will be one of my go-to restaurants.
We had another awesome dinner Friday evening. I usually order the delicious Brick Chicken, but our terrific waitress talked me into having the Daube of Beef - which was over the top delicious. Starter was an evening special: flatbread - toppings included warmed goat cheese and Arugula. Every time we go to Bistro 29 we are wowed by the scrumptious food and the delightful & efficient wait staff. We'll continue to recommend this restaurant!!!
The food and selection was very good, meat and seafood represented. The appetizers were tasty and somewhat unique, including the specialty of crepes. The desserts were fantastic, the beignets were perfection!
Though are server was pleasant and considerate, she was unable to provide the name of the bean used as a purée in the Halibut dish.
food was very good. we started with the flatbread and goat cheese appetizer and all 3 entrees halibut, salmon and duck were perfectly prepared and very tasty. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. in fact after my son mentioned we were there to celebrate my birthday, she brought us a dessert sampling and dessert wine to share. Nice touch! we definitely recommend Bisto 29
My wife introduced me to Bistro 29 three years ago and I have to say, we have only had very good experiences there. The wait staff is supperb, the food, its preparation and presentation are done with care and love. I would recomend this restaurant for a date or just as a place to go during the week when you don't feel like cooking.
Dinner at Bistro 29 was outstanding. Friendly and efficient wait staff and an impressive variety of French dishes to suit any tastes. We dined on the scallops and the 6 hour beef in wine sauce that melted in the mouth. We started with a buckwheat crepe as an appetizer which was superb - would also make a great entree with a salad. For a French restaurant, the prices were very acceptable and the wines by the glass are a great value. Highly recommended.
We've eaten here several times and been very satisfied with both the food and the service.
Dinner, two days ago was disappointing for my husband...very satisfying for me. I had the Scottish Salmon, my husband had the Steak Frites. He had to send it back..had asked for it to be "unadorned " and it came covered with Something or other and drowning in sauce.
The service is wonderful and servers very knowledgeable.
