Four of us all chose the prix fixe - independent of each other, we didn't confer - and enjoyed each of the dishes. The soup was delicious, the crispy crepe was a surprise, but also delicious, and the beef stew (I forget the name) was wonderful, to the point that our guest, who is a real "foodie" and chef, asked how long it had been cooked and what cut of beef, so he could try to duplicate it at home.

The dessert crepes were really good also.

The after dinner wines were a bit pricey, but that was our choice, so we can't complain. Overall, the evening was very good. The staff were all very personable, pleasant and helpful.

We are in wine country and the wine service was dicey, she opened and poured the wine without letting me taste the wine. Yes, sparkling wine can be corked, yes, white wine can be corked, I finally had to ask. And, ordering a bottle of wine was extremely difficult, there was six of us, we had a bottle of bubbles, a white and two reds. We would have ordered a dessert wine but she was non existent. And, we had Urbered it! They were not busy and we all felt like we were an afterthought. The food was fine, but not memorable.

The problem with Bistro 29 is that it is simply too good. Try as we might to restrain ourselves, we always indulge a bit more than we should. Last nights fixed price menu, the beef carbonnade, was sublime and 3 of our party ordered it with the wine pairing and all were delighted. I had the best baby kale salad (I didn't even know a kale salad could be so divine). The candied bacon, the nuts, the cheese, and the orange sliced made a refreshing salad that was exquisitely presented. I tell myself that I have to stop ordering the figgy pudding with the caramel sauce but as of yet, haven't managed that. It is my favorite dessert. We never tire of this restaurant.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Greater Santa Rosa area. The food is always first rate. Lots of variety. People who love fine dining and those who just want a very fine meal will enjoy Bistro 29. Also like it for lunch. Very nice for special occasions too.

Bistro 29-always a favorite. On the pricier side but well worth the cost. Wait staff a bit slower than normal-especially w/drinks and water. But hardly enough to complain. One of the few restaurants in Santa Rosa that actually qualifies as romantic-with a menu to match. Don't miss Bistro 29

The ambience was very nice. The prix fixe menu was all that was available for NY Eve. The food wasn't 5-star IMHO, but it was very good.

Wobbly table, Gritty/ sandy lettuce, courses served out of order, wrong item delivered, overly apologetic server, table next to us served entree before us although they were seated after us and had just finished their 2nd course. not a good experience. Won’t be back. Overpriced.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our post-Christmas meal in this warm and cozy environment. Our choices of house specialties--crepes and mussels--did not disappoint. With the addition of a fresh green salad and seasonal vegetable, we had a delicious, satisfying
meal. As always, the service was superb.

Good French Bistro food, wine list with a good selection of French wines, good deserts, and a pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable wait staff. Plus they have an excellent selection of crepes, savory and sweet. The best French Bistro in the area.

This was my second time dining at Bistro 29 and once again the food was amazing, beautifully plated, the service impeccable! The only downside was when an older couple sat down at the next table with the man seated to my left. The man’s fragrance had been applied so liberally it was suffocating. I’m allergic to fragrances and I have asthma so I found this rude and thoughtless. Fortunately, our server was able to find seats at the bar and helped moved the plates and glasses so the evening was saved thanks to Bistro 29 staff! Thanks again!

My longtime friend had a birthday upcoming on 12/24, and I made a reservation for lunch at Bistro 29. It was the day after Christmas, parking was not a problem, food was excellent, service was terrific, and my friend got to blow out her candle before eating the fabulous crepe with ice cream dessert! Definitely will return soon!

The place is small—I mean walk sideways and you carry the tablecloth with you and risk breaking the whole table set up. Our waitress was friendly, but didn’t make herself available to us as much as we would have liked. I mean, it took a good 20 minutes for the appetizer to come out and the time for each course to make it to our table increased each time. We even ordered dessert in advance and still had to wait 45 minutes even after being told it would only take 10 minutes—tops. First time having traditional French dishes, but it was a fun experience for the company, not so much the bistro.

Wonderful pre-theatre dinner. The cheese plate was wonderfully unique and delicious. Salads were large with a delicious light dressing. The entrees were rich and flavorful. We shared a dessert sampler that was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, but not intrusive. A great meal enjoyed by all.

I love French food but am surrounded by delicious Italian fare here in Healdsburg/Geyserville area so was so happy to have discovered Bistro 29! We chose this restarunat for one of our festive holiday meals before attending the theater at 6th St. Playhouse. We got off to a bit of a rough start as our reservation was right at 5PM and only one server was on the floor. There was already a table of 7 seated and most of the attention went to them. Our sever eventually arrived on her shift (I saw her walk through the door can clock in) but we did sit there for about 15 minutes with only water.....not even menus, until I asked the gentlemen pouring water to another table that had arrived, was seated, and oddly already been waited on.

Anyway, all got resolved with a little explaining of our need for some attention....a.k.a. a menu, wine, etc. and in the end, the evening turned out great. The food was so delicious I'm still dreaming about that foie gras pate! I will totally go back!

One suggestion: put a nice curtain in the doorway to the bathrooms. We sat in the front corner/window of the restaurant and couldn't help but to stare at the bathroom door until the place filled up and distracted us. :-)

I felt the tables were way too close. For such a great dining experience, I did not appreciate the patrons coming in after we were seated not being able to be seated without having our table moved over, which then put us very close to the next table. That was an issue. The service was top notch and the food was excellent with great presentation. The crepes to die for.......

This was our second time at Bistro 29 and we again had a wonderful experience. The food is out of this world and the wine list had some fantastic local and imported gems. Highly recommended if you want to experience a little Parisian bistro right here in Sonoma County.

I’ve dined at Bistro 29 on numerous occasions over the last 7 years and have to say this may be the last. The service was awkward ( our party had 3 servers and it felt odd) none noticed I didn’t eat my dish as a different person who was not a server cleared our plates. I asked to sit away from the draft of the door in my special requests ( they don’t look at the computer when they seat you rather they refer to notes on a clipboard) and was seated in front of the door. daub of beef was so dry even the reduction sauce was not enough to choke it down. The fish was covered with a pickled taste that overwhelmed my tastebuds.

A great way to celebrate our anniversary with friends!! We broke with tradition and went at 1 p.m. which was perfect. It is a small restaurant and when busy very noisy. By the end of our meal we had the entire place to ourselves. If you like French bistro food, you'll enjoy it. We had mussels, steak frites and a seafood caserole. Food was yummy. The waitress was attentive and funny. Corkage was $15.

Came in about 5 minutes before our reservation, the couple at our table was just ordering desert, we waited an hour before we were seated, the management tried to mitigate the problem, it would have been nice to maybe have had a bottle of wine comped for the inconvenience

Everything is quite good about this restaurant except the size of the pour
for a glass of wine. They think five ounces for $12 is appropriate. I think that is too
small. It annoys me. I'll still go back as the food is very good and nicely presented.
Also the service is fine. I have been there a dozen times.

After a harrowing week of fires In Santa Rosa, my friend and I visited Bistro 29 with the hopes of having a decent meal. The meal at Bistro 29 did not disappoint. The Norvegienne and Clairette Crepes were delicious, the endive and goat cheese salad refreshing, and the honey glazed beignets and selection of ice cream and biscotti were out of this world! A Russian River Pinot Noir was a great pair to the meal as well.

UNFORTUNATELY, the service was greatly lacking.

This was our second meal at Bistro 29 this month, the first being a lunch for four a couple of weeks ago. The food, service, and French ambience was everything we could have asked for. We expect to return with friends very soon. The location in downtown Santa Rosa is excellent and parking could not be easier. As the town center continues to become more attractive and the redesigned square grows into itself, we look for the lunches to become almost as popular as the dinners. The old saw about "no ones goes downtown" in Santa Rosa is becoming ridiculous as so many locals seem to know one another here and the convivial atmosphere makes dining locally even more enjoyable.
