We had an excellent dinner here at Bistro 27. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful.
We went to celebrate my brother's graduation. The food was delicious. Definitely be ready to spend a lil money, but for special occassions it's well worth it. Surprisingly quiet and empty on mother's day afternoon.
My mother, brother, friend and I had Sunday Brunch at this Restaurant on Mother's Day [5/12/19]. Everything about it was Amazing and Exemplary [atmosphere, food, service and fellowship]. I would definitely recommend this fine place to Family and Friends.
I plan to go back again... thanks to all for the warm Hospitality, especially to William Wright [General Manager} and our server Byran!
Fantastic food. Owner and chef came to check on us, the owner even intercepted a bus boy to replace cold syrup with warmed. It was a little loud, and the a/c we were seated next to a little cold, but it was a pretty fantastic meal none the less. The Mother’s Day card’s were a nice touch, and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it. Steak and eggs were delicious, and mom loved the waffle and bacon. The appetizer/salad bar was good, but maybe move the barstools out of the way next time because the placement was a little awkward.
We celebrated our daughter’s graduation there. The whole party had a great time with the great food and service there:)
Great service and delicious food with lovely presentation!
We really enjoyed our meal here. It was our first visit and we were impressed with the service, quality of food and the friendly owner.
The best brunch i’ve ever had. The service was just impeccable. William, the owner or manager i’m not sure, was incredibly attentive and friendly. Our waiter was exceptional and patient. We ordered the breakfast basket which was delightful assortment of croissants, blueberry muffins and biscuits served with real fresh butter and strawberry preserves. For our main course I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, and my companion ordered the Bistro 27 breakfast. It was hands down the best eggs benedict i’ve ever had, the crab cake was fresh and full of delicious lump crab (no filler). Hollandaise was exceptional and the poached eggs were perfect. I ate every bit, that also came with yummy potatoes and fresh fruit. Their mimosa deal was great and they did not skimp on the champagne or whatever the ‘kick’ was (vodka?). To top it off, William sent us a complementary tiramisu that was scrumptious and so fresh. I will absolutely return to Bistro 27.
What a find!! An upscale restaurant with great food, attentive wait staff (kudos John) and thoughtful owner (thanks William) who treated us like royalty for my husband's 70th birthday. We were a party of 8 and everyone's meals were DELICIOUS, prices were reasonable and atmosphere was laid back & inviting with a large open dining area, cool artwork and cozy bar. I highly recommend this gem...you won't be disappointed!
Mediocre to poor food at a high price. Only two tables occupied, we aren’t sure how it got a good rating. Many other good restaurants in the area.
When we arrived the restaurant was closed for a private party, but because I had reservations William, the owner accommodated us and took care of our meal! Can’t wait to go back!
Everything was great for our pre Richmond Forum meal. Seems a tour bus group was dining at the same time so staff was a bit strained but handled the extra activity well.
As always we had a fabulous time at our favorite go to restaurant before we head over to the Rep.
Everything was fantastic !!
A wonderful Easter Sunday was spent at Bistro 27. The restaurant is beautiful and an integral part of the downtown Arts District. William and his team are a fixture in that revitalized area and they possess a deep connection with their neighborhood. Not a dog walked past those stunning floor to ceiling windows without one of William's team greeting each furry visitor with the expected puppy treat, which are kept in a jar near the front door. As we approached the restaurant the largest table of fresh shrimp cocktail and salmon I have ever seen in any restaurant, was on display in the front window. What is nice about Bistro 27's Easter brunch is that the first course is a buffet, which has a collection of salads, muffins, fruit, cheese and so much more. Your entree and dessert is served at your table. The eggs Benedict with crab cakes was spectacular and the dessert was delightful. I highly recommend the Tiramisu! Bistro 27 feels like you are in William's home. It's warm, cozy, and you're with family.
The price of Easter Brunch was high. And the food was not as good as I expected. The appetizer bar offering did not have as many options as I thought it should have for that price. We felt very rushed, as our entrees came out before we had a chance to eat our appetizers. And the server hovered over us, so it was hard to relax and enjoy our food. He forgot our drinks and the Bloody Mary's that we ordered were super expensive (what is the deal with the $3.00 fee??) The chicken entree that my daughter ordered was super dry and she could barely cut into it with her knife. My salmon entree seemed on the sparse side. Dessert was good. Our bill was jaw dropping (almost $500) and I left feeling a little ripped off. We will not be returning to this establishment.
Easter Brunch. Fixed menu with several entree choices and desserts. Had to pick dessert ahead of time. Salad buffet with lettuce, macaroni salad, bean salad, and shrimp cocktail.
Very poorly managed and way overpriced. Diners have to cross through people waiting for tables to get to the salad buffet. Full size plates for salad is just silly and doesn't fit on the table. Entrees arrived before we're finished with salad course. I had to constantly chase down more coffee.
Entree potatoes were greasy and boring. Quiche was uninspired and barely warm. Lamb portion was very small and also not chef quality.
Dessert fruit tart was a store bought mini pie shell in the foil with blueberry jam in it. A truly ridiculous thing to serve at this level.
We could have had a better meal thawing Stouffer's! At fifty bucks a head, this place is just exploiting it's customers.
The staff and the owner could not be more friendly and the cuisine is exemplary!
We made a reservation for Easter Sunday a few days in advance. We arrived and three different people asked if we were being served and then kept walking. When someone finally asked our name they said we didn't have a reservation. They had "turned off" Open Table 5 days earlier but they evidently forgot to tell you so people kept making reservations. They advised us to sit at the bar until they figured something out. Clearly they were unprepared for the day, and didn't know how to manage Open Table, but based on the awkward way we were treated, I wouldn't go back.
Very delightful Easter brunch! Definitely outdid themselves with the meal selections. Owner and waitstaff were fabulous!
Easter Brunch was very busy.
Service was great despite how busy they we're Easter Sunday. Management was absolutely amazing
Food and service was excellent. Will definitely make a return visit.
Went there specifically as it showed trout on the Open Table menu. Trout was also listed on their menu sign at their front door. No trout on the paper menu we were handed when seated. Asked about trout, server said they had not had trout in some time. Lesson learned - ask before being seated if the menus are up to date or if they are serving the dish you were anticipating! Disappointed.
I was in Richmond for a show at the Altria theater and chose the restaurant based on location. What a delightful surprise Bistro 27 turned out to be!! Delicious, beautiful food cooked perfectly and great service in a lovely setting. I have already recommended this restaurant to a friend and would definitely go back.
Excellent food. Great service!
The owner of the restaurant Greeted us answered all her questions about it and Neal and we had a wonderful dinner and dining experience
The four of us each loved our entrees. They were out of the wine I picked so they upgraded us for no extra charge. Give it a try!
We really enjoyed chatting with the owner. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Bistro 27 never fails to provide a wonderful meal with excellent service!
Terrific food and a superb ambience. Excellent location for post theater or opera dining. Service is great and the owner William is friendly and charming. We have a great time every time we go to bistro 27!
We ate breakfast. Love the light & bright dining room. Has a fun urban vibe. Food was great. Service was slow, but they may have been short handed. We have been many times and will go again.
What a wonderful brunch experience! When we arrived we were seated by the large windows, but the air conditioning was blowing right on us. Our server immediately offered to move us to another table with a window view. It was still a little chilly, but much better. The server spoke to the manager and the air stopped blowing! I think everyone in the restaurant was more comfortable then. The food was great. Everyone has something different and all four of us were very pleased. The server was such a gentleman and the manager was very personable. We will be back!! Thank you Bistro 27.
Great spot in Richmond!! We had dinner at the bar, which was delicious. (I had the duck, tho they are known for pasta and seafood).
Our first time at this delightful spot. Cuisine, service, and overall friendliness will have us coming back again and again.
Terrible food and service. We asked for more bread which took about an hour to “prepare”. Appetizer came out same time as food, had to return 2 meals due to poor quality of food. Would not recommend
Food was very good, and the atmosphere was nice for a special "date night" event.
Parking was a bit confusing, but once we had that resolved, we enjoyed the evening.
The best part of the restaurant was our server, Kyle. He was so nice, and helpful.
Kyle did a wonderful job at providing very professional service, and genuinely seems to
enjoy working in the customer service industry. He is a 5-star employee!!!
We will certainly return for another night on the town, in the future. Thanks!
Impromptu dinner before a Broadway show at the Altria and everything was delicious and attractively presented. We had all courses, cocktails and wine and made it to the performance in plenty of time.
We had Sunday brunch at Bistro 27 while we were killing time waiting for our hotel room to become available. Although not officially open until 10:30 am, they let us in early to get out of the brisk March chill. We both had Eggs Benedict, me with crab cake and my wife with smoked salmon; both dishes were excellent, including the well prepared hollandaise sauce and perfectly poached eggs. The atmosphere was pleasant and the owner was engaging, stopping by our table to chat with us at length. Our waiter, only on his second day of work, was very attentive. The only discordant note was the piped in Millennial-techno Euro Pop. The ambience would have been much better served by, for example, instrumental jazz such as Bill Evans Live at the Village Vanguard. All in all, a pleasant place to enjoy a meal, and we will return the next time we visit Richmond.
The food here has always been exceptional. Last evening was no exception. I had my go-to seafood stew. My partner was gushing about the lamb shank. Located in the Arts District, we were there before heading across the street to see the magnificent Eva DeVirgilis in her one woman show, “In My Chair”. William, the owner/manager at Bistro 27 has maintained a steady presence in a competitive food scene in RVA.
