Had a wonderful dining experience with my family celebrating my birthday! Our waiter, John, was very attentive and friendly! We will definitely return!
Elegant setting with soft, instrumental jazz, fantastic food choices and great service! Took my fiancee for her birthday. So many great choices on a relatively short menu... We settled on the lamb meatballs for our appetizer followed by the steak which comes with a cognac and grain mustard sauce (very nice) and the lamb en croute which is wrapped in a puff pastry and was absolutely delicious and savory! The staff is quite knowledgeable and happy to make suggestions, Kyle was awesome. William, the owner is a gracious and friendly host and the servers take good care of everything. My fiancee and I had a great birthday dinner and they even offered a complimentary dessert for her. Thank you guys for a fantastic evening!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful brunch this afternoon! I was really impressed with the blackened chicken sandwich and peach chutney, the Mont Gravet Rose, and the tiramisu! I would highly recommend this restaurant for every day dining and special occasions! We will for sure be back!
This is a nice restaurant. A little more pricey than I thought, but worth every penny. The food was delicious and the service was superb - couldn't have been better.
The food is amazing and the service excellent!
Food & service was outstanding. Wonderful to dine with friends and be able to hear each other, not noisy like so many restaurants. Delicious food and a beautiful presentation. Everyone in our group was very happy with our choice of restaurants
My wife and I went to Bistro 27 to celebrate our anniversary. Our server first brought out some champagne to mark the occasion—a very nice touch. Since both of us are light eaters, we skipped any appetizers. We both chose the "grilled peach salad" which was very good. The grilled peach (not grilled salad) was an excellent complement to the greens. For the main course my wife chose the Orecchiette, House Sausage and Broccolini while I chose the fish of the day which, today, was flounder served with crab and cauliflower béchamel sauce and braised baby leeks. Both dishes were excellent, although I found the leeks to be a bit difficult to chew. (Perhaps they were there to impart flavor during the cooking. ) The mashed potatoes served with the flounder had bleu cheese mixed in for an extra touch of deliciousness! For dessert, my wife chose the chocolate mousse cake (heavenly) and I chose the tiramisu—much lighter than the chocolate mousse cake and the perfect ending to the meal. As a side note, we had coffee with our dessert and both the decaf and "high-test" versions of the coffee were pronounced excellent.
This was our second time at Bistro 27 and we will definitely return again!
Personal service. Great food. The lamb en croute is amazing!
Moving girls to college and meeting parents of roommates. Was a great quiet space. Food was terrific and reasonable
In Richmond for the night and found this neighborhood gem. Owner was a delight. Would definitely come back!!!
We have been twice for brunch. Great service and menu. This time my eggs were super over cooked, was supposed to be sunny side up and runny but were hard. They remade them perfectly right away. My husband's steak and eggs were perfect. Overall two great experiences.
Have been to Bistro 27 a number of times over the years. Have never been disappointed with the food or staff. Do go.
Nice meal in a beautiful setting. Perfect place to eat before a show at the Virginia Rep.
We took out of town friends there and were a little disappointed that items listed on the web site were not on the menu. The food was good and the wine we selected was fabulous.
Bistro 27 - excellent food we got a sampling of appetizers and were outstanding. The Halibut Fish and Scallops done perfectly. Blueberry pomegranate homemade ice cream the perfect way to complete the dinner. Excellent aervice
Enjoyed our dinner. We were going to the theater and they were very conscious of the time. One of us had rockfish and the other the lamb. Both were excellent! Will definitely return.
Great place with consistently delicious food! The menu is not large but has plenty of good options. Duck, scallops, and fish were all excellent. Very pleasant atmosphere and you can actually hear each other talk, unlike many of the restaurants downtown. Attentive, accommodating service. I have been quite a few times, usually before a play, and have never been disappointed.
Outstanding in every way. Many thanks to the chef for beautifully prepared and delicious choices.
Four stars because, while my meal was near perfect, my wife's Lamb en croute was good, but a little flat. Perhaps some mint or a little bit of zing to the sauce. It was, however, very well presented. I had the duck breast. Excellent. A little more rare than I would normally have, but it was very tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were creamy and hot. Too often they seem lukewarm. Broccoli was al dente, just as I like it. I told the waiter my mean was near flawless. My wife's dessert was a blueberry ice cream topped with a flavorful lemon cookie. Very good, but the warmth of the cookie (normally a good thing) overwhelmed what became blueberry mush. I had a large portion of lemon cake. Very good, if not just a little too big. Now, this was an early dinner before an early theater. The restaurant was nearly empty, so the service was excellent and the food was hot. I would expect that with more diners, either might suffer a little. Also, this was a Thursday. I thought Thursday was the new Friday. Where was everyone? Perhaps it got busy while we were in the theater across the street. I'm certainly going back to Bistro 27, and highly recommend it to others.
We had an outstanding meal. The wine was a good price point. My husband and I had scallops which were perfectly cooked. The grits were to die for and the broccolini was just right. Don’t pass up this gem. Wonderful all the way around. I just wished we lived in Richmond. It’s fabulous. Can’t wait to come back.
The service was expedient and friendly. The owner himself even assisted with my table, and he ensured that my date and I had all we needed. The lighting and soft music was perfect for evening dinner, and the staff is kind.
We have passed this restaurant many times but have never stopped in. I’m so glad we did! We can’t wait to go back!
This is a wonderful restaurant with entrees that are always right on spot. I've been there 3 times in the last 2 months and have always enjoyed each meal.
We had dined here previously and once again had a very enjoyable dinner with friends.
Our waiter, John, was very knowledgeable and personable.
Definitely will return and also recommend to everyone.
Wedding weekend family brunch...amazing all the way around! Food was incredible, service was outstanding!! Highly recommend the crabmeat eggs Benedict!! Staff was very accommodating of our large group!!
We had an excellent dinner here at Bistro 27. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful.
We went to celebrate my brother's graduation. The food was delicious. Definitely be ready to spend a lil money, but for special occassions it's well worth it. Surprisingly quiet and empty on mother's day afternoon.
My mother, brother, friend and I had Sunday Brunch at this Restaurant on Mother's Day [5/12/19]. Everything about it was Amazing and Exemplary [atmosphere, food, service and fellowship]. I would definitely recommend this fine place to Family and Friends.
I plan to go back again... thanks to all for the warm Hospitality, especially to William Wright [General Manager} and our server Byran!
Fantastic food. Owner and chef came to check on us, the owner even intercepted a bus boy to replace cold syrup with warmed. It was a little loud, and the a/c we were seated next to a little cold, but it was a pretty fantastic meal none the less. The Mother’s Day card’s were a nice touch, and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it. Steak and eggs were delicious, and mom loved the waffle and bacon. The appetizer/salad bar was good, but maybe move the barstools out of the way next time because the placement was a little awkward.
We celebrated our daughter’s graduation there. The whole party had a great time with the great food and service there:)
Great service and delicious food with lovely presentation!
We really enjoyed our meal here. It was our first visit and we were impressed with the service, quality of food and the friendly owner.
The best brunch i’ve ever had. The service was just impeccable. William, the owner or manager i’m not sure, was incredibly attentive and friendly. Our waiter was exceptional and patient. We ordered the breakfast basket which was delightful assortment of croissants, blueberry muffins and biscuits served with real fresh butter and strawberry preserves. For our main course I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, and my companion ordered the Bistro 27 breakfast. It was hands down the best eggs benedict i’ve ever had, the crab cake was fresh and full of delicious lump crab (no filler). Hollandaise was exceptional and the poached eggs were perfect. I ate every bit, that also came with yummy potatoes and fresh fruit. Their mimosa deal was great and they did not skimp on the champagne or whatever the ‘kick’ was (vodka?). To top it off, William sent us a complementary tiramisu that was scrumptious and so fresh. I will absolutely return to Bistro 27.
What a find!! An upscale restaurant with great food, attentive wait staff (kudos John) and thoughtful owner (thanks William) who treated us like royalty for my husband's 70th birthday. We were a party of 8 and everyone's meals were DELICIOUS, prices were reasonable and atmosphere was laid back & inviting with a large open dining area, cool artwork and cozy bar. I highly recommend this gem...you won't be disappointed!
Mediocre to poor food at a high price. Only two tables occupied, we aren’t sure how it got a good rating. Many other good restaurants in the area.
When we arrived the restaurant was closed for a private party, but because I had reservations William, the owner accommodated us and took care of our meal! Can’t wait to go back!
Everything was great for our pre Richmond Forum meal. Seems a tour bus group was dining at the same time so staff was a bit strained but handled the extra activity well.
As always we had a fabulous time at our favorite go to restaurant before we head over to the Rep.
Everything was fantastic !!
A wonderful Easter Sunday was spent at Bistro 27. The restaurant is beautiful and an integral part of the downtown Arts District. William and his team are a fixture in that revitalized area and they possess a deep connection with their neighborhood. Not a dog walked past those stunning floor to ceiling windows without one of William's team greeting each furry visitor with the expected puppy treat, which are kept in a jar near the front door. As we approached the restaurant the largest table of fresh shrimp cocktail and salmon I have ever seen in any restaurant, was on display in the front window. What is nice about Bistro 27's Easter brunch is that the first course is a buffet, which has a collection of salads, muffins, fruit, cheese and so much more. Your entree and dessert is served at your table. The eggs Benedict with crab cakes was spectacular and the dessert was delightful. I highly recommend the Tiramisu! Bistro 27 feels like you are in William's home. It's warm, cozy, and you're with family.
