Food was great. Service outstanding. We will make this our restaurant of choice for future dining out. The drive from Merced was worth it.
The food wasn’t quite up to par that night. The rib eye my friend was grisly. She kept setting more pieces aside. I had the salmon, which was good, but the rice was strange, almost like rice pudding. I did enjoy the crab cakes. I wish this restaurant had some vegetarian options. The wine, dessert, and service were all very good.
Meal was great as expected. Stakes cooked perfectly and fish was moist. This marked the 3rd or 4th time we had been there and it is definitely great food. The only complaint was the waiter’s VERY abrupt explanation that there would be no substitutions on the menue. (If you call adding mushrooms on the side of the stake a substitution?). It wasn’t his answer that was the problem; only his delivery... For the 2 other couples that came with us that night; one will never be back mostly because of that waiters response. It’s too bad; the food was excellent. Perhaps a softer response next time?!
Food was amazing and service was great except I felt like we got ignored a bit towards the end of our meal, but overall very pleasant experience.
Always enjoy a visit to Bistro 234. The food and service are great. My girlfriends and I had a fabulous dinner and a delightful evening.
Good food and atmosphere.
Excellent as always! Great food and wonderful downtown location.
Britta was our server. Probably one of the best ever! We have dined at some of the most popular restraunts in the world and I would rate Britta among the top 1%.
I am a generous tipper for servers who go above the call and she certainly did. Congrats to you & your staff!
I was very disappointed. I've heard this place had good food and good service. Two things we did not receive. Took my wife there for our 19th wedding anniversary. Not only we were seated directly between 2 large parties, we were literally in the walk way right outside the kitchen doors with plenty of other tables available. Took 20 minutes from the time the hostess sat us, until someone came over to our table. And no, it was not busy. (it was a weekday) Our server was non existent. She sure paid a lot of attention to the table right next to us, table with 8 guys all drinking and cuttin it up. (maybe she thought she was gonna get a bigger tip from a group of guys).
Ordered the rib eye (or what i thought was rib eye) Very disappointed in the taste, the look, the size; looked and tasted just like carne asada.
All in all, i will not be going back, and not recommending this restaurant to anyone. Very disappointing for a special dinner out for our anniversary.
My favorite is the chicken Marsala and the Diane torte for dessert. Big enough to share with three or four. Yummy!
We really like the food at the Bistro, however it would be nice if they served new dishes. Even though they have specials, it seems like the specials are pretty much the same. As the old saying gos, "Variety is the spice of life!"
We hosted a dinner for clients this week. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. Great wine list, and overall good vibe for what we needed. I would return for the Ahi Tuna for sure.
We love to celebrate our anniversaries here. ❤️
We live in Denair and frequent Bistro often. It’s our go to when we have friends and family visiting as the menu, wine list and atmosphere are perfect. The wait staff are exceptional, professional and courteous. Bistro never disappoints.
Our fav spot for date night; the craft cocktail list is a new find (for us, ....)
Overall nice place and cool vibe. Steaks were cooked perfect. If you're in Turlock area it's worth a try!
The portions are large we each had onion soup and split a chicken marsala. It was plenty, neither of us could finish it all. The wine list is nice and reasonable. The food was good, service excellent. One of our favorite places when in Turlock
Enjoyed the atmosphere and company, but food was really so-so. My husband ordered a pork tenderloin with apple chutney. He said it was really tough. I ordered halibut and I thought it was coming with parmesan mashed potatoes but came with what I think was scalloped potatoes with a bunch of cheese and browned. Didn't seem to fit with the fish. Haven't been to this place in a long time, so probably won't go again any time soon.
Francesca was a fantastic waitress
Amazing service, great food!
Had a great time, food, service, and ambiance was perfect.
Always great food and friendly staff. Accommodating to making food vegan.
Such good service and food was fabulous as always!
Upscale interior design. Good outdoor seating. Very good service too.
I like the menu
Our waitress Raschelle was incredibly rude and inattentive. My husband and I specifically chose Bistro to celebrate our special day because on-line it appeared they had our favorite wine. Bistro unfortunately no longer serves our wine, which obviously was a bummer. All in all the atmosphere was okay, but our waitress could've been a bit more professional and not acted like she hated her job!
Again, a great experience at Bistro. Service was exceptional.
I have eaten here a couple times and it was good but this evening was not good. The speciality drinks were awful (tried 2 different ones) and our waitress ended up leaving half way through our dinner. Our halibut was overcooked and the beet salad was not very tasty. The best part of the dinner was the dessert. It was very good.
Great food and service! Steak was seasoned very well and cooked to order!
All I can say is get the Mahi-mahi, it was outstanding. Great food and a nice atmosphere. Our 3 time here and quickly becoming a favorite of ours!
Seared Ahi was great. My wife had the chicken marsala, very good. Nice wine list! Bruschetta appetizer really good. One of the nicest places in Turlock for dinner!
Food was very good, but could tell the regualr chef was not there.
There were 8 of us. Steaks, Salmon, Bass, Ahi Tuna were ordered and we all loved the food; great attention to service; nice wine menu. In and out within an hour, but we were not rushed. We will definitely come back. Others in our group had been there before. 234 Bistro was recommended to us by over a dozen people.
I reserved it as a special occasion. As we were walked to our table, it would have been nice if my wife was acknowledged for her special day. Our waitress didn't introduce herself, felt a little cold, with her service. She checked up on us as needed without leaving us alone to long. Which was nice.
Thanks for following up
Luckily the restaurant was slow, only a couple other tables if not the service wouldn't have been great. All the other tables got bread and butter but we weren't even offered any. Our cups ran out of water for a bit before getting refilled. The food is very expensive.
But I definitely must say their appetizer clams with chorizo were divine, all of us LOVED them! The mac and cheese was also fairly tasty and definitely made from scratch. The chicken masala was disgusting, same as the last time I came 5 years ago. I thought maybe they had changed it but apparently not and I felt bad about not warning my cousin it wasn't any good before . Another member got the burger and they didn't care for it. The Alaskan dish was ok. Tiger prawn and scallop dish was divine after adding a little extra salt and pepper which isn't a big deal, I would definitely order it again!
Excellent food and service. A larger wine list would be awesome. Highly recommend!
The atmosphere was great , The food was very good, (too much sauce in the gnocchi)
but our waitress was a little pretentious, and the hostess.
I’ve been to many high-end restaurants (mainly in the city) and recently dined at a high-end restaurant in Modesto where the service staff was just incredible, always there for our needs, willing to make us happy, very attentive, gave us whatever we wanted as far as drinks...any kind of drink that we wanted.
My boyfriend wanted a ‘fireball’ (shot) our waitress flatly and rudely said ‘no we don’t have that’ was pretty rude about.
Wow the high-end restaurant in Modesto made us any kind of drinks we wanted.
I myself have never heard of a fireball... so I’m not sure if it’s like on the lower end of the List of drinks?
Still....she could’ve been a little more polite and said ‘oh you know I’m really sorry we don’t have that here, can I offer you something similar .’
I also owned a restaurant for about 10 years
So yes, I don’t like bad service at restaurants. I probably won’t go back there because of the experience with the waitress.
Now the server who brought out our food was very polite and so was the person who filled up our water glasses.
Delicious! Love everything about Bistro. Drinks are super yummy!
Thank you for making our special evening wonderful!
Great meal. Specials were awesome
