Bistro 18 Ratings and Reviews
We were seated in a glass enclosed area outside of the restaurant itself. This is an area reserved for access to other shops in the strip mall. The restaurant was not full at this time so i'm not sure why they would seat people here. If the restaurant wants reviews of "ambience" they should seat their guests inside of the restaurant. Patrons of the other business came in while we were dining and were loud and disruptive. Other guests dining made similar comments. The host was friendly and accommodating.
We enjoyed our meals and the service was attentive but not intrusive. I loved being able to order wine (from a large selection) from a local wine shop and have it delivered within minutes. We live 60 miles away but would consider coming again when we’re in the area.
Entree and dessert were good, but the appetizer was not and was hugely over-priced in the bargain. Though the service was very attentive on first being seated, the place is so understaffed that everything - from receiving water and bread, to having our orders taken, to delivery of all 3 portions, to paying the check - took forever. A simple before-the-movie meal that could have been accomplished in an hour or so, took nearly two hours and almost got us to our show late. That might have been understandable had they been crowded, but there were several open tables in our room.
Had been there before but this was terrible. Had to ask waiter after 15 min to take our order, then we were told they ran out of the appetizer. After about 40 minutes waiter said entrees would be right out. Waiter disappeared, 15 more minutes and had to ask manager about food. Eventually it came and it was just ok. Kitchen was backed up all night. I get having an off night, but this was inexcusable.
This is an excellent restaurant with great service. The food was delicious and the dessert was beautiful and delicious. The fish was perfectly prepared and plated. The eggplant napoleon even when sent back was still not sufficiently cooked for the eggplant and cheese to be soft. We would still very happily go to this restaurant regulary.
WE were four guests and the table we were given, though lovely, was in a very noisy spot. We asked to be moved to a less noisy table. Both wait staff and manager could not have been more gracious or accommodating. It made a huge difference in our enjoyment of the evening. The food is always reliable, wait service always very good, same waiters for many years who take the measure of the table and act accordingly, not a feeling of being rushed. The young manager is very gracious and eager to please.
Attentive, friendly service from the moment I walked in...delicious appetizers and entrees coupled with comfortable atmosphere. Had the special chilled avocado soup with lump crab meat -- would have had seconds if they offered it! Mushroom risotto was perfectly cooked and the tuna tartare was fresh and abundant. Arugula salad was fresh and tasty. Generous portions. BYOB or order from the local wine shop (they deliver)! Maitre' D was very attentive. Will return!
Nice people. The stuffed flounder was undercooked and I had to send it back. They charged me full price for it until I expressed my concern and then they discounted it. It was absolutely delicious and the presentation was extraordinary. I will go back. No one's perfect and, like I said, they really are nice people.
Service was attentive & friendly. The appetizer, tuna tartare with avocado & cucumber was ample, fresh & delicious. I had the Berkshire pork chops, which were perfectly cooked. My wife had the mixed seafood which she asked to be put over Bok Choy rather than pasta. They were happy to modify to our requests.
We haven't been here in awhile & are really glad to be back.
We were there for mother's day so this is not the norm probably, but the wait staff was in a little over their heads. We waited quite a while for our food. Some people really liked their dishes, mine was ok - pasta seafood, a little overcooked. But again, not a normal day so I would go back. The ambiance is very nice and festive!
A nice quiet dinner with friends on a slow night (a stormy Tuesday night) - we had one of the rooms to ourselves and it was easy to talk and relax. The service was not rushed at all. The only issue was that the bill was hand tallied and added up incorrectly (by $30 or 20% of the correct bill amount). Thankfully, my friend checked the bill and we got it corrected. It might have been an innocent mistake (and we did leave a generous tip on the correct amount), but that should not happen - the bill should have been computer generated.
I liked Bistro 18. I wasn't hugely impressed but it was all very good. It was a very quiet night so we were one of only 3 tables there but the service was spot on, the food was nice and it was an enjoyable evening. Did it knock my socks off? No, but it was a good place. I had the tuna tartare appetizer which was well done, nice fresh tuna with avocado. Very refreshing. I also had the duck breast which was a little overdone for me since I ordered it rare, it was more medium but it tasted good. Veg that came with it was boring and the brussel sprouts were overcooked but again, it all tasted good. My husband had the pasta dish which he enjoyed. He said the pasta was very fresh and well cooked. It was a very nice evening.
