Bistro 1860 Wine Bar & Spirits
Dinner: Monday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm (bar opens at 4pm), Friday & Saturday: 5:00pm - 11:00pm (bar opens at 4:00pm)
Fabulous spot for a quick bite at the bar or for a special dinner at one of many interesting table locations. Varying size portions make it a wonderful way to accommodate everyone's appetite. Most importantly, the food is just delicious, interesting, reliable and with something for everyone.
The food was great. We shared a variety of small plates including Foie gras, duck confit, soup, brussel sprouts, and scallops. All were excellent. Our server was very informative and not intrusive. The wine selection is good. We will definitely go back.
This is our third time here. Our server was wonderful and spunky. We really liked him. The food was wonderful as always and we will def be back. Ps the octopus was AMAZING
I loved having the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy the fabulous ambiance, food, and friends. I highly recommend this restaurant for just those occasions.
The menu is so reduced from what this restaurant had when it became popular that it is disappointing. It feels that the chef has lost his edge and is bored with the whole thing. But our server was delightful and the patio is still a nice place for an evening meal in the early summer.
At times my conversation on the patio with my wife of 54 years (we celebrated our anniversary) was an exercise in shouting as we competed with the motorcycles and trucks going by. However, one could expect no less since the lovely patio was adjacent a busy intersection. Eating later, e.g., after about 7:00 PM when traffic eased, would have been wiser on our part and likely much quieter. Nevertheless the meal was excellent and the service out standing. While on the expensive side, I have no qualms about recommending this restaurant to all with my only caveat being my warning about early dining on the patio.
Excellent dinner on the patio. Service was spot-on. Nice bar atmosphere.
The best in Louisville for imaginative food with great service.
Other than the trucks full of pigs coming by regularly (it is located in butchertown) the food and patio were wonderful.....but I may not order pork again anytime soon...
Recently went on a Saturday night. It was not too crowded. Between the regular menu and specials there was a large selection. Everything was very good. Really enjoyed the steak tartar
with the pomme frittes. Ambiance was also very nice. I would definitely recommend.
We had not been for many months. They have eliminated many items from the menu - not as much choice. A little disappointed
As a frequent diner at this restaurant I always enjoy the food and great service. This consistently brings me back. Unfortunately, this past visit was ruined by a very obnoxious group that had no consideration for anyone else.
Everything was delicious and they have different portions so that if you want you can order a lot of different items and share. Our server was excellent overall great experience.
Lovely outdoor atmosphere. Server was kind and attentive.
Perfection every time we visit.
They employed a combo in the bar area. Music was fine at first but louder songs were to follow. Could not hear yourself. We finished up our meal. The other patrons were complaining too.
I was looking forward to eating at Bistro 1860 for some time. My girlfriend and I made a reservation to celebrate her birthday. We are so glad we did. They have a convenient parking lot next to the restaurant. The menu choice is limited but they had several specials, everything looked delicious. The meals come in 3 sizes, appetizer, medium or full dinner plate and that was great for us because if ordering a salad, finishing a full plate is too much. We each ordered a salad, I had the endive salad and my friend had the greens salad, both delicious. We split the Lobster Hush Puppy, and I had the tenderloin and my friend had the scallops, both were really good. We will be back.
Fabulous food and server was great. EVERYTHING we tried was excellent.
Celebrated Mother's Day at 1860 and were easily seated on the patio even though we'd not reserved a spot outside. Superb service and delicious food, as expected.
The big treat was when the owner passed by and overheard me saying how I loved my omelette, though with about a thousand extra mushrooms, I'd have REALLY loved it. Moments later, I had a plate of sauteed mushrooms to enjoy. Service & attention to detail like that is exactly what makes a restaurant special and I'll keep coming back. I'd heard great things over the years while living in Chicago, and now that I'm back in Louisville I'm thrilled to get to enjoy Bistro 1860 whenever I want to! Thanks for making my Mother's Day extra special with those mushrooms!
The atmosphere was amazing. We sat outside and the shade provided plenty of relief from the sun and there a nice breeze. However, the menu was pretty pricey for the amount of food you received. The menu has 3 options based on 2 oz increments, except for scallops. I ordered 2 scallops for $25 and they came in a bowl that fit just two scallops, probably about 4 inches wide. It made it hard to cut the food and the presentation of the scallops was disappointing. The food itself was great, but the value and presentation lacked.
AS always Bistro 1860 is excellent. There versatility and range of options are amazing. And for Derby weekend they do NOT stop offering their great menu. I have been here many times and have never had a a dish that wasn't delicious even on a very busy night. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious and right sized. I highly recommend to try at least once
Exceptional! Meal did not disappoint. Server was very nice but didn’t really talk about foods or options as our last server did. It was really cold when we first got there and I think someone complained as it was warmer. Great restaurant for date night or girls night out. I love to sample all the different options. The lamb and escargot were outstanding. Steak was perfectly cooked-my 10 year old son ate the entire thing. He said it melted in his mouth. I will return!
First time at Bistro 1860. Food was phenomenal! Very cool interior. Loved the idea that most of the offerings can be ordered in different sizes. Lobster hush puppies-so good. Lamb chops, filet and salmon were cooked perfectly. Drinks very inventive. Server was Erica-amazing! We will be back.
Bistro 1860 is always a treat and we come here for just about every special occasion.
Considering the many good reviews, we were expecting a lot - probably too much. We loved that we could get most of the entrees in appetizer/tapas/entree sizes, that was a nice opportunity to try out the menu. There were a few interesting items on the menu (lobster hush puppies, duck confit., foie gras), but apart from that, the menu could have been more creative. The food was OK. Their slow-cooked short ribs were out, the lamb was close to burned, baked red potatoes were dry and everything was prepared with way too much fat, Brussel sprouts were swimming in bacon grease. Service was very friendly but slow initially, it took them a long time to take our order, although the restaurant was not completely full. Probably not going again soon.
When we arrived at 630, there was no one in the restaurant . We were the only table & it still took a very long time for someone to wait on us & get drinks. As more people showed up, the service got better. I guess they just weren’t ready for diners.
The servers were very pleasant, and the service was very timely. The chef came out the check on us as well. Everything was prepared very well. The beverage service, particularly the wine selection, is always outstanding.
Always enjoy bistro 1860. Food is great (lobster hush puppies are a must!!) and it has a great vibe. Took friends visiting from out of town and they loved it!
Food was very good. It was a little noisy but there was a crowd of people celebrating. I'll go back.
Bistro 1860 has two rooms, and both of them were pretty noisy on a recent Sat. night. It didn't help that we were in a room with two large tables! However the food was outstanding- I love the three sizes of plates; for instance the King Salmon came in 2, 4, or 6 (I think) oz. portions, the lamp chops, one, two or three chops! Both were excellent!
The food was delicious, as always. The service was a disappointment, unfortunately. Usually we have outstanding service. Perhaps the server was new or was overheated. We spent a lot of time waiting....to place our order, for the food, & for the check.
We visited to celebrate a birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal from beginning to end. The ambiance is really nice for a romantic meal, although we did see several larger groups enjoying their meals as well. Our server did an excellent job with suggestions and taking care of everything during our meal. We were seated in the back room near the fireplace which was a bonus from our point of view.
The multiple serving size options is great if you'd like to explore more than one or two items on the menu, which we highly recommend. Save room for dessert, it is also excellent!
Bistro never fails. Every time I dine, it is outstanding. The Duck Confit and Lamb are truly unique and excellent. Finishing with the made at Bistro ice creams is great fun. John was a fine server with many good suggestions for pairings.
We love the fact that you can get most of your entree in appetizer/tapas/entree sizes. Gives you flexibility. We haven't had a bad meal yet. Everything is top-notch. Well, it does get a little loud when it's full. That's our only complaint.
As always, very delicious!!!!
This was a great meal! Everything we tried tasted so good. The salmon was cooked perfectly, as were the potatoes and ribs. All in all, a wonderful and delicious dining experience
Hunter and John took great care of us, at the bar and at our table. Thanks guys!
Great food and service but pricey
