First time at Bistro 1860. Food was phenomenal! Very cool interior. Loved the idea that most of the offerings can be ordered in different sizes. Lobster hush puppies-so good. Lamb chops, filet and salmon were cooked perfectly. Drinks very inventive. Server was Erica-amazing! We will be back.
Bistro 1860 is always a treat and we come here for just about every special occasion.
Considering the many good reviews, we were expecting a lot - probably too much. We loved that we could get most of the entrees in appetizer/tapas/entree sizes, that was a nice opportunity to try out the menu. There were a few interesting items on the menu (lobster hush puppies, duck confit., foie gras), but apart from that, the menu could have been more creative. The food was OK. Their slow-cooked short ribs were out, the lamb was close to burned, baked red potatoes were dry and everything was prepared with way too much fat, Brussel sprouts were swimming in bacon grease. Service was very friendly but slow initially, it took them a long time to take our order, although the restaurant was not completely full. Probably not going again soon.
When we arrived at 630, there was no one in the restaurant . We were the only table & it still took a very long time for someone to wait on us & get drinks. As more people showed up, the service got better. I guess they just weren’t ready for diners.
The servers were very pleasant, and the service was very timely. The chef came out the check on us as well. Everything was prepared very well. The beverage service, particularly the wine selection, is always outstanding.
Always enjoy bistro 1860. Food is great (lobster hush puppies are a must!!) and it has a great vibe. Took friends visiting from out of town and they loved it!
Food was very good. It was a little noisy but there was a crowd of people celebrating. I'll go back.
Bistro 1860 has two rooms, and both of them were pretty noisy on a recent Sat. night. It didn't help that we were in a room with two large tables! However the food was outstanding- I love the three sizes of plates; for instance the King Salmon came in 2, 4, or 6 (I think) oz. portions, the lamp chops, one, two or three chops! Both were excellent!
The food was delicious, as always. The service was a disappointment, unfortunately. Usually we have outstanding service. Perhaps the server was new or was overheated. We spent a lot of time waiting....to place our order, for the food, & for the check.
We visited to celebrate a birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal from beginning to end. The ambiance is really nice for a romantic meal, although we did see several larger groups enjoying their meals as well. Our server did an excellent job with suggestions and taking care of everything during our meal. We were seated in the back room near the fireplace which was a bonus from our point of view.
The multiple serving size options is great if you'd like to explore more than one or two items on the menu, which we highly recommend. Save room for dessert, it is also excellent!
Bistro never fails. Every time I dine, it is outstanding. The Duck Confit and Lamb are truly unique and excellent. Finishing with the made at Bistro ice creams is great fun. John was a fine server with many good suggestions for pairings.
We love the fact that you can get most of your entree in appetizer/tapas/entree sizes. Gives you flexibility. We haven't had a bad meal yet. Everything is top-notch. Well, it does get a little loud when it's full. That's our only complaint.
As always, very delicious!!!!
This was a great meal! Everything we tried tasted so good. The salmon was cooked perfectly, as were the potatoes and ribs. All in all, a wonderful and delicious dining experience
Hunter and John took great care of us, at the bar and at our table. Thanks guys!
Great food and service but pricey
Birthday for a BFF and, as always, Chef and his amazing staff knocked it out of the park. Thx for such a memorable and delightful evening!!
We can count on the team at 1860 to provide us a thoroughly enjoyable, low-key and enjoyable dinner experience. The menu is a perfect size and the food is outstanding.
Service and food were fantastic!
1860 did it again. Always our go to spot. We were pleased to have it our valentines dinner. We were greeted at the door by our all time favorite server Hannah. She has been promoted- well deserved. Erika took care of us and was excellent. A great bottle of wine, some of the lobster hush puppies, the salmon, a filet and the Brussel sprout rounded out an excellent visit to 1860. Highly recommended
Excellent as always. Love the portion options. Had lobster hush puppy, 3 oz filet, nice drink all good.
Best spot in town for a nice date!! Food is spectacular and the place is in a beautiful historic home. Monday’s have half off select bottles of wine which is a huge incentive!!
Hands down the best restaurant in Louisville! The food is amazing and their unique order size options lets you sample, which is great because everything on their menu is amazing! The chef and staff are wonderful.
Lovely decor. Nice menu selection. The food was delicious. Salads and sides were shareable.
What took this from being perfect was the noise. We were seated in the back room. Two large groups were seated there after us and we couldn’t have a conversation it was so loud. Ruined the meal.
Ask to be seated in the front room.
My husband and I had an amazing experience at Bistro 1860. Our waitress, Lauren, was wonderful and I know we will always request to be in her section from now on. We will definitely repeat the experience. The food was phenomenal and the experience was unforgettable. Will recommend to others.
The food and service was incredible! Julio was our waiter. Most of the food selections offered small and medium portions. The flavor blew our taste buds away!
Bistro 1860 is my favorite restaurant! The chef is fabulous, the flavors are out of this world, the ambiance is lovely, there's nothing to dislike!!!
Everything was really good except I asked for us to be seated in the room with the fireplace. Turns out all rooms had fireplaces, but ours was the only room that it wasn't lit, which is why I asked for the fireplace- for ambiance.
Excellent service as always. And the food was exceptional. We are vegan and are always in for a treat at 1860!
Great evening, amazing dining experience and food for our NYE date. Will definitely be back.
Maybe my new favorite Lousiville restaurant, I loved everything on the menu!
This is our favorite restaurant, all cities included!
Everything we had was exceptional. I liked the structure of the menu - it allows you to order smaller versions of dishes to try more options. My wife and I had the lobster hush puppy, seared diver scallops, duck confit strudel, the rack of lamb and the surf and turf special (lobster tail and filet). Every dish was outstanding and the bourbon list was stellar (which is expected in Louisville). Great experience!
This place is always on our short list of places to eat in Louisville for a special dinner. Being able to order small plates of many different dishes is so much fun! We're especially fond of the lamb tartare, escargot, Brussels sprouts, mussels, rack of lamb, salads, and all of the dessert selections. Also, top notch chef and staff as well!
They treat you like you are the only diner on site!!
avoid food not good.
The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. On the evening we were there, a vocalist was performing and made it difficult for normal conversation. He was very good but louder than background music.
One of the specials of clam chowder which was excellent. Wish I had ordered as my entre as well. I thought the salmon I ordered was not cooked enough. I should have said something at the beginning when I ordered, so it was my fault. I have been there in the past and I love their scallops, potatoes, and Brussel sprouts. Yummy!
