Food was excellent. Service was good, but not great. I liked the small. medium and large plate options on a number of their dishes. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
Great food and excellent service
Our waiter was wonderful
Reliability wonderful every time.
We love this place
Great food that is creative but not pretentious. Good selection of wine and spirits to suit every price point and preference.
Great atmosphere not too fancy. Really like optional sizes for food. Recommend lamb chops, duck confit and scallops. The candied jalapeños in lobster hush puppy’s was amazing.
Food was very good. Only complaint was every menu item had cream or cheese in it.
The perfect place for a special dinner in Louisville. This old house with its checkered floors, vintage photos, awesome bar and fireplaces make for a wonderful dining experience. Local ingredients bring Kentucky gourmet to life. You will be wow’d. And some of the best cocktails in town. Our server was magnificent. We frequent this restaurant and just love everything about it.
They were kind and gracious about accomadating my food allergy (no one wants to have these!). The waiter was exceptional. The food lovely. The bartender terrific.
The ambiance wonderful. We weren't rushed. We didn't have to shout! Felt like we kept our hearing instead of losing it.
Louisville restaurants should start taking note--we, and many of our friends, are crossing restaurants off our list for loud noise pollution.
It's a pricy restaurant, but perfect for special events.
Absolutely awesome restaurant. Worth every penny. The lobster bisque was rich, the Colorado rack of lamb was perfect.
We had a wonderful time. Yes, it’s not cheap, but that was no surprise, and the food was incredible. It was anniversary, and the chef went and picked flowers from the garden just for us. We had an amazing time. We will go back again.
I'm not sure where to start. We went to have a nice dinner this Saturday and we made the wrong choice by coming here. The portions are hysterically tiny. $19 for a Cheese plate that has the tiniest piece of honeycomb and a couple small corners of cheese. Ridiculous. For $25 you can get 3, yes THREE scallops... No comment needed. I got the 4oz filet which was $25 plus an additional $7 for a side of red potatoes that were so over salted I couldn't eat them. If you are trying to find a place to spend a bunch of money on not a lot of food, come here! Won't be back. My whole party was very disappointed.
Great service and excellent wine happy hour. Food was delicious, all recommendations were spot on. Everyone in my group was overly satisfied, we had a great time. Recommended.
Dinner was OK. I thought menu was very limited. Not as many choices as shows on your website. Scallops were offered the night we were there but at $13 per scallop......really??? I had the duck strudle app and it was delicious. The endive salad was not cold and the lobster hushpuppy had maybe 2 small pieces of lobster. Overall not a real memorable experience.
The food was excellent as always and so was the service. Erica is an absolute gem.
Always outstanding. Chef Michael always has a wild caught fish on the menu which I truly appreciate given that most restaurants take the easy way out and use yucky farm-raised fish. Beyond that, the preparation of all of the dishes is always well thought out and beautifully executed.
Excellent atmosphere, excellent service and most importantly excellent food! Definitely 5 stars. Great French signature dishes and wine selection. The occasion was to celebrate a special birthday and we couldn't spend the evening in a better restaurant.
Service was ridiculously slow and they were not busy and when the food arrived a salad and steak tarter so salty it could not be eaten 40 min. later it was terrible and except for the salad that looked like it was two days old (should have sent that back too) we sent it all back, and left.
We love Bistro 1860 and have never been disappointed. The food was delicious. Service was top notch. Great atmosphere!
Amazing service mixed with creative dining experience coupled with yet unparalleled service . No disappointments .
I dine here a few times per year, even though I moved away from Louisville and now live in Nashville. It’s my favorite restaurant and it has yet to disappoint.
Love the Wild Alaskan Salmon here and the way it's prepared. Haven't been able to duplicate it at home so I keep coming back. Also love that you can get the salmon in 2, 4 or 6 oz. portions. Also amazing Groganica Greens salad. The escargot--yum! The cheese platter.... mm, mm, mmm.
Oh, and if you get there early enough to order your wine before 7:PM then bottles are half price! What's not to love about all of that?!
Bistro 1860 continues to impress. Great food complimented by an excellent atmosphere and service.
First visit having wanted to dine there for awhile. Meal was exceptional and I love the variety of sizes offered from tapas to appetizer to entree size if many items. Extensive drink and wine menu and in house amazing desserts
Food surpasses expectations every time! Everything has layers of flavor that come out in every bite.
Lamb was delicious, as was the duck. The lobster hushpuppies are a must have.
We had an outstanding experience at Bistro 1860. The food was excellent, and it was appropriately priced for what OpenTable says (two dollar signs). We sat outside since he weather was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing - cooked to perfection. The only drawback we experienced was the service- it could have been better. The quality of the service was great, but we were not checked on as frequently as we would’ve liked, and the server did not thank us for coming and/or invite us to come back again (wondering if this is because we were outside and not inside). The menu there changes from the menu that’s in OpenTable, so don’t be surprised if items are different. That all aside, we will definitely like to come back again.
Brought OOT guest from Austin, TX. Had a lovely dinner and great service. Enjoyed the small plates and being able to sample different dishes. We loved them all.
Thanks for a great evening! We’ll be back.
I love Bistro 1860. Their salmon is amazing! And their food is always so fresh. I do wish they had more vegetable options but now I am just being picky because everything really is fantastic.
Menu is minimal now. Ordered the cheese plate, same price $19 but about 1/3 of the amount with previous owners. Wine prices much higher and less selection. Nobody smiles! Everyone seems disgruntled! This was my 3rd and last time under new ownership.
Excellent service and very friendly! Made a nice end to a magical 25th wedding anniversary!
Great food. Fantastic bourbon selection. Just a tad on the loud side.
Food was delicious! Bistro 1860 never disappoints!
I love the choice of portion sizes at Bistro 1860. I'm not a huge eater, and this allows me to have a starter, salad, and entree without having a ton of food left over. We had guests in from out of town. Everyone's food was delicious and our waiter was good and charming. The endive salad is so delicious I would come back just to order it again. Outdoor dining is nice, but a bit noisy.
Our favorite spot in Louisville, never disappoints!
Wanted a restaurant with good outside seating. Food was good but a bit pricey for what you got. Wine prices are outrageous. Service was great and very personable.
Fabulous spot for a quick bite at the bar or for a special dinner at one of many interesting table locations. Varying size portions make it a wonderful way to accommodate everyone's appetite. Most importantly, the food is just delicious, interesting, reliable and with something for everyone.
The food was great. We shared a variety of small plates including Foie gras, duck confit, soup, brussel sprouts, and scallops. All were excellent. Our server was very informative and not intrusive. The wine selection is good. We will definitely go back.
This is our third time here. Our server was wonderful and spunky. We really liked him. The food was wonderful as always and we will def be back. Ps the octopus was AMAZING
