the best corn beef Reuben in town! Get reservations or wait. Noisy at night.
All good food on the menu with lots of comfort food!
We have dined at Bistro 185 several times in the past few months. Typically service and food have been fabulous. Unfortunately this time we were seated on a back corner booth and the server forgot about us most of the night. Initially it took 15-20 minutes to greet us and bring a drink. Had it been our first visit we would never go back again. We know better than to accept that table and waitress.
Enjoyed their fish special; veal chop and filet were other entrees ordered by my party . Oversize salad with beets is great to share. Generous cocktails. Key lime and coconut pies, again shareable, delicious! Melissa is a terrific server. We'll be back again soon.
Fantastic, fresh food thoughtfully plated and prepared. Would recommend for any occasion. Moderate pricing, craft cocktails and from scratch desserts are also a nice touch. Will be back.
Great setting in one of cleveland's oldest neighborhoods. Old bar, with gourmet food, perfectly mixed drinks and no pretentiousness. If you cannot find an entree on the menu you like, you literally do not like food. I recommend taco tuesday.
Awesome food, especially sharable plates. The pistachio dates!
Dinner was delicious and service was perfect. The booth was generously sized providing us with a nice cozy space to ourselves for conversation. Perfect.
This is our go to place. Never had s bad meal there.
Great place for dining, Best food in Cleveland, Best servers and Best management
Really good choice of main courses [which change every day] as well as wines. Service and presentation were outstanding. We took a friend there for a special birthday. She had never been there before and loved it.
The food is interesting and has different twists, so it is fun and yummy. The service is wonderful and the restaurant vibe is vibrant. This is a great night out.
Though dining late, kitchen must still maintain quality. Chicken and waffles could be unique if chicken wasn't so terribly overdone tasting like soup chicken. Waffles tasted like Eggos. Leave it off the menu if you can't do it good.
Loved, loved, loved the place. We where skeptical from the street, but saw it was on the list of "best places to eat in Cleveland area." It was so true! We went with our waitresses' recommendation of an appetizer, truffle fries. Incredible! Lots of good Parmesan cheese, spices and herbs. Dinner was just as fantastic! Husband got the steak, grilled to perfection, and I got the crab cake, it was pretty good. Don't, I said DON'T forget to get the Key Lime pie! It was actually more like a cheesecake! It was out of this world! I'd go back just for that!
So happy we found Bistro 185 where we met Richard, one of the finest bar tenders in North East Ohio. He is a true professional and really made our drinking and dining experience memorable. Food was excellent too! Thanks for a great dining experience!
Delightful as ever on Friday 7/1 when I had lunch with a friend. Don't miss the clam chowder, which pairs well with the house salad. Service by Melissa is always top notch.
Always good. Great lunch spot that converts into a gourmet restaurant at night. Ambience is casual but the food is not.
Our waitress was Kaja. She was amazing!! Updated us regularly, made jokes, didn't get super weirded out when we asked her what celebrity people told her she looked like. Really made us want to go back there. The atmosphere was nice. Not loud. I had the day boat scallops wrapped in bacon and my friend had the sea bass. I would recommend both. The food takes a bit to get to you, but good conversation makes the time fly. This place was really good and I can't wait to take my fiancé there!!
We had delicious food and scruptious drinks along with our favorite server, Melissa. Service was excellent. It is our favorite neighborhood restaurant .
We went for an early dinner on a Monday. We enjoy the "long-established neighborhood watering hole" atmosphere. We like to sit next to each other at the bar and wax poetic over whatever sport happens to be on the TV. That's where we met Richard - probably one of the best bar tenders/hosts I've encountered in my travels across the country. Totally gracious, totally professional, great wit, makes a mean cocktail and knows his wine. He explained happy hour and the menu wonderfully and steered us toward the best combination of happy hour appetizers and dinner entrees. Happy hour is not the usual low end fare...it includes high quality wines, top shelf cocktails and chef inspired appetizers. Richard is an accomplished mixologist - amazing Knob Creek bourbon sour and Moscow mule! He also had me taste a couple of wines to ensure I would be happy with my choice for dinner. The braised short rib appetizer melts off the bone and the cherry sauce is heaven. My guy got the the chicken & waffles while I got the veal chop. There was not a speck of food left on either plate. We will definitely return to the bar on a Monday to sample more of Richard's wit and the rest of the menu!
First time and we will be back!
Excellent menu with nice presentation and well seasoned.
We have been to Bistro 185 on several occasions. We usually have an outstanding meal. This time my husband had salmon which he said was delicious. My son and I had the Short rib and we were disappointed. The cherry demi glaze was non-existent and taste was more bitter, vinegar taste. For the price of these entrees I was disappointed.
My son/husband had coconut cream pie which was outstanding. All the desserts are top notch!
Excellent perch!
We were seated quickly, but it took almost 15 minutes for our server to come and get our drink order.
Also the table at which were seated was across from the bar, with the TV on we were subjected to Wheel of fortune all evening. There should have been a wall/separation from that.
I have been there 4 or 5 times in last couple years. I used to recommend this restaurant. The last few times there has been an offensive odor. Very unappetizing. I hope they can fix this and restore what was once a very pleasurable experience.
The food was great and our waiter was fabulous he had great wine recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the food items. However the service of food from the kitchen was slow. We didn't even get bread until after we finished our meal.
wonderful service. Hostess was superb
great food and great apprtizers
We had veal and short rib entrees. I highly recommend both items. We also had mussels with white wine appetizer, that could be an entree, and it was great for sharing. Our cocktails and wine were also very tasty.
It was a busy Saturday night and we had a reservation. Service was slow. Also we had a couple of small mixups with our cocktails. I'm never a fan of servers that do not write down orders. She got most everything correct.
When we want fine dining, my husband and I always suggest the 185th st. Bistro. The perch is wonderful and tasty. We always try to get a booth for the most comfortable seating, but have on occasion been seated at a high top in the bar area and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the bar. The hostess is very friendly and the servers have always been friendly and accommodating.
This is my favorite place to eat, the food is dynamite! I have a hard time deciding what to eat because all the dishes I've tried were so delicious.
We enjoyed our dinner with our family. Our waiter Zack was most accommodating. Great food.
We'll be back.
Richard, Zack as well as the Chef truly make us feel at home whenever we go to the Bistro. We travel there from Brecksville for great food and to watch the Cavs and Indians. The Smoked Duck Appetizer was packed with flavor and absolutely fantastic. My wife and I split the pasta and ramp dish, and while ramps may be weeds in West Virginia, when prepared properly they are a stunning addition to pasta. The Coconut Creme Pie like every other desert at 185 was incredibly flavorful. This place is a must!!!!!
Our server Sarah was very knowledgeable and professional. We never felt rushed but did feel appreciated as customers. The food and presentation was excellent as always.
My best friend and I have made Bistro 185 our regular "catch-up" spot. The food is always outstanding, the atmosphere lends itself to our lengthy conversations, and the service is always impeccable. This most recent visit was no exception. I can't recommend Bistro 185 enough!
No matter what is in the menu for the day, there are always too many options to pick just one!
Bistro 185 is an old favorite. We last visited in December and were taken aback by the new, limited, higher priced menu. My last review was a 3. This visit showed a few, new, more neighborhood priced items. The quality was still excellent as was the service. These changes will increase our frequency at Bistro.
Very friendly service of food well-prepared from a varied menu. Recommended!
Other than it being quite noisy everything was very good
Went on a Tuesday night before a show at the Beachland. The place was pretty empty, so we opted to sit at the bar. The bartender, Richard, (who was terrific btw), introduced himself and got us setup with water and drinks. Tuesday is taco night, so we ordered a couple each. All were delicious. The only knock is we thought the regular entree prices were a bit on the high side.
This was our third visit to Bistro 185 and th eonly complaint I have about the place is that it tends to be pretty crowded. Since it is located in one of those little converted corner bar type places, it lacks a spacious dining area. If you like outdoor dining , the space is almost non-existent. But The food is always exceptional. This past Saturday, I had the short ribs, while Hubby opted for the Veal. Both were excellent choices. The servers were very busy, but went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed . I've noticed that the menu changes from time to time. It will be interesting to see what they have on it come Summer. We do have an anniversary coming up in June..
Fabulous! Recommended by a friend and so glad we went! Fantastic food! And the martini werent so bad either! Yummo!
